Love and Stubbornness
Here are two ideas to giggle at.
Now the base of both these ideas starts in the same place, which is why I am putting them together.
We start mid clones wars. Some mission has come up that has exposed at the very least Cody to a Sith device that causes the person exposed to fall ‘in love’ with the next person they see. If we want to go full bore we can include others up to and including Padme Amidala. The important points are that 1.)Obi Wan is not affected (though he and Cody are in Love, possibly even dating) and 2.)the first person that Cody sees is Anakin, thus it is Anakin that the person that the object made Cody fall in love with.  Including others would be a good way to increase the humor by creating a Gordian knot of random one sided ‘loves’.
With that Base, here are the Two ideas.
Idea 1.
They know what this object is meant to do, so Obi Wan braces against the pain of seeing Cody fall in love with someone else. Of loving Anakin, because this thing refocuses from the true object of one's affections to the false feeling created by the object. So he would see Cody loving Anakin in the exact same ways that he showed love to Obi wan. Even if it is temporary (God he hopes it is temporary), it would still hurt.
Cody looks lovingly at Anakin for precisely 15 seconds.  Then his face hardens, he points at Anakin and goes ‘No!’.  Cody then turns to Obi Wan, dips him, and kisses him. Just straight up out stubborns the Sith object.
I feel like this is even funnier if most of our other main characters are chasing each other around, still under the influence of the Sith Object (it is temporary but lasts several days).
Much later, after everything is back as it should be, Cody is asked (very officially, because breaking a Sith compulsion is a BIG DEAL) how he did it. Cody shrugs and responds with ‘I reject any reality where I am attracted to General Skywalker.’
No one has any idea what to do with that.
Idea 2.
The Sith Object does create a permanent feeling of love, but it does not define what shape that love takes (The Sith that created it were just very bad at being evil).  So Cody is still exposed, still sees Anakin first. But instead of a romantic love, Cody immediately goes…”This is my son, he is oblivious and reckless but I love him”
Then he turns to Obi Wan and tells him that they (Cody and Obi Wan) would be adopting Anakin immediately.  Obi Wan is down for it, the Jedi have paperwork that they can adapt. Anakin is baffled but pleased. Frankly being claimed in that way ticks every one of Anakin boxes, plus from Anakin’s perception Cody is now the one bringing Anakin and Obi Wan back together as family.  Cody further endears himself to Anakin by making it clear that everyone knew he was married, no cared and that Padme was also now family, with the protection to prove it.  Even if Obi Wan was not already in love with Cody, the fact that he managed to get Anakin to listen for the first time in what feels like a decade.
Cody very loudly proclaims that Anakin is his son to anyone who will listen (a function of the Sith Object).  At some point someone, a senator or one of Palpatine's aides, points out a little too firmly that Cody cannot adopt Anakin because Cody is not legally a person. And look, the Jedi never forgot that the clones were not legally people (in fact many of them were hoping to get the adoption pushed through, then leverage it to get the clones more rights).
Anakin had forgotten, or never realized that the clones had no rights.  By this point he had accepted Cody as a father figure (above both Palpatine and Obi Wan; Palpatine had primed Anakin to respond to certain types affection, which Cody delivered a little more easily that Obi Wan-due in part to Sith Object and part due to his direct nature- and that affection lacked the slimy undertone that Palpatine tended to exude-because of the manipulation) so his reaction(in the middle of the Senate Rotunda) to the realization that his newest father was effectively enslaved was…impressive. Also the reason why the senate voted that Anakin, specifically, needs to be assigned a dedicated therapist.
I have no idea where either idea goes from there but it gave me a giggle.
I hope someone is inspired to write the full fic.

CHAPTERS 1-3^^^
UPDATE ALERT
FREEDOM FIGHTER
Chapter Four:
To be a Clone was to be property. A soldier, a weapon, a flesh-droid. It was the brief, inevitable fate of a Trooper.
They were in it together, brother to brother to brother, and from that came a culture all their own, an experience all their own. No outsider, no matter how close or empathetic, could understand.
…Yet Commander Effen… there was something about him…

I love this fic series and podfic and feel like Ezra, Cody, and Obi-Wan fans should know about it.
It has Time-Traveling Ezra, Codywan, Order-66 Fix-it, and Palpatine dies. *^_^*

The Clone Wars: Return of the Thoughts
Tumblr media
I’m over half way through my first watch through of The Clone Wars (I’m part way through the Onderon rebels arc at the moment) and it has been An Experience. I have really enjoyed watching it, even though so much of the story is just pain and despair. If it isn’t already completely obvious from my reaction posts, I have completely fallen for the clones. New hyperfixation unlocked. I love and adore all of them. This brings about its own problems because for a show called The Clone Wars, there isn’t exactly a great focus on the clones. They’ve basically been sidelined in their own show (Hmmm, I wonder where we’ve seen that done to a clone before?). When we do finally get some decent clone-centric episodes, they are all just pain, misery, angst and despair. Which explains why I’ve been dreading watching so many of the various arcs in TCW.
I’ve found that my anticipation of episodes falls into either 'outright dreading', 'generally looking forward to', 'somewhat interested in', or 'fairly ambivalent about'. Out of the three seasons I have left to watch, the only arc I’m actually looking forward to is the opening arc of season 7, because:
a) Baby Bad Batch b) ECHO c) More clones! More clone interactions and personality and character development and depth and emotions and all the things! d) Jesse and his ARC tits running around being an absolute unit e) Kix! *weeps for his beautiful hair* f) Rex being a BAMF as usual but also being all soft and concerned when he gets one of his Domino Twins back after he thought he’d lost them both. g) We even get a bit of Cody too, before he gets squished by a larty and Wrecker has to lift it off him. h) Non-chip controlled Crosshair! He smiles! He laughs! He’s snarky and sarcastic! We finally get to see the toothpick with a soul before it’s ripped out and trampled into the ground by the Empire. i) I think the season 7 premiere is where Obi-Wan cuts an actual missile in half to save Cody, and if that isn’t the most hyper competent way of conveying your love for your space husband, then I don’t know what is.
On the other side of things, there are a number of arcs that I am dreading and almost don’t want to watch.
Tumblr media
I’m not overly looking forward to the Mandalore arc in season 5, mainly because we have to watch Obi-Wan watch Satine get brutally murdered in front of him by Maul. Along with being utterly cruel and completely devastating, it’s also another wholly unnecessary fridging of a female character. There’s already enough man pain in this series as it is, we don’t need to add to it by killing off one of the few female characters with depth.
Tumblr media
Straight after this is the Jedi temple bombing arc, which I almost don’t want to watch. The way Ahsoka was treated was utterly horrendous and appalling. No wonder she left! What they did to Barriss was just as awful.
Tumblr media
Then it’s straight into the chip conspiracy arc, which is just more pain, misery, suffering and death for the clones. First Tup, then Fives, in what seems to be generally regarded as one of the most devastating deaths of the entire Clone Wars series. I’m pretty sure there’s going to be a lot of sobbing at the end of it. I also cannot wrap my head around the fact that Fox is the one to shoot Fives. I cannot believe that a clone would ever shoot another clone. That a vod would kill another vod. It’s just inconceivable. From what I’ve read, the generally received headcanon seems to be that Palps was controlling Fox via the chip or the Darkside. This makes complete sense, is a believable in-universe reason, and is definitely the headcanon that I’ve accepted. Blasters have a stun setting! Fox is the Commander of the Coruscant Guard. He’s a command class clone and he has a kama so presumably he’s got ARC training as well. There’s no way he’d be that sloppy as to not have his blaster set to stun. I know this is leading up to my inevitable internal conflict between fandom Fox and canon Fox (which is already brewing), but that’s another rant for another day. Either way, I'm absolutely dreading watching this arc.
I’m not really looking forward to watching the Rush Clovis arc in season 6. I touched on this in 2.04 ‘Senate Spy’ and I should imagine that this arc involves more of Anakin being abusive and controlling of Padmé, which both @0bianidalas and @coraex basically confirmed in the comments. For a multitude of personal reasons, I am really not comfortable with watching something like this. That said, I should imagine it will be a clear example of Anakin’s further descent to the Dark side and give a greater understanding to how it happened, which I gather was a key reason for the existence of The Clone Wars series in the first place.
Tumblr media
Finally, there’s the Siege of Mandalore arc, which is just pain, misery, death and despair for everyone involved. We have to watch another perspective of the genocide that is Order 66, and by all accounts this one seems to be one of the most heart-wrenching and devastating. All of the clones are forced against their will to turn into brainwashed, controlled, mindless monsters. Jesse is turned into the very opposite of everything that he is, stood for, and believed in. Ahsoka is hunted by the very men she thought were her friends. Rex has to shoot his brothers out of self defense and to protect Ahsoka. All of the 322nd die. Rex cries. The only saving grace to all of this is that Rex is finally free, but at what cost. At what cost.
(Editor Me: My heart is already aching just going through the various gifs from these arcs. I'm going to be an absolute wreck I watch the actual episodes.)
After all of this, I somehow have to power through 4 seasons of Rebels before Ahsoka premiers on August 23. I’m probably going to have to binge watch Rebels and come back to it later for the reaction posts but we’ll see. While I have spoiled myself on Rebels in the same way I did for TCW, I haven’t been looking up what happens in Rebels quite as much as TCW. I’ve forgotten a fair amount of what happens so I think I’m going to try and keep myself as spoiler free as possible for Rebels. Hopefully that way I’ll be able to avoid this ‘dreading watching particular arcs’ problem that I’m encountering with TCW.
It’s not all doom and gloom though. There are moments in particular episodes that I’m looking forward to.
Tumblr media
Hondo turns up again in the younglings arc and I am all for more Hondo. My interest in this arc falls somewhere between ‘somewhat interested’ and ‘fairly ambivalent’ but Hondo is an absolute riot and I love his particular brand of chaos. He was hilarious in the season 5 premiere and stole every scene he was in so I’m very glad to see him appear again.
Tumblr media
We finally get to meet Gregor! He seems like a fan favourite and I’ve been looking forward to meeting him. If the droids mission is anything like R2-D2 and the reprogrammed B1 droids in the Citadel arc then this should be fairly amusing too so I’m generally looking forward to this.
Tumblr media
In a way, I am looking forward to parts of the Mandalore arc in season 5. Obi-Wan in Mandalorian armour! More sass and snark from Obi-Wan is always enjoyable and at least we get to see him rescue Satine before it all goes horribly wrong. I know I’ve made this point before but I also love it when we get to see just how damn good a Jedi Obi-Wan is. There’s a little bit of this in the season 4 finale when Obi-Wan teams up with Ventress to fight Maul and Savage (after he’s thrown about like a rag doll and we get even more Obi-Wan whump. TCW has been a surprisingly excellent source of Obi-Wan whump.) But you really get to see it in the season 5 premiere. At one stage Obi-Wan is dual wielding lightsabers like an absolute madman while fighting both Maul and Savage at the same time. Sir, your lightsaber form is Soresu, what are you doing?
Tumblr media
I’m looking forward to ‘The Lost One’ because we get to see a bit more of Wolffe, Plo and the Wolf Pack and I am always happy when we get to see more of them. Even if it's only for a tiny bit at the start of the episode.
Tumblr media
As painful as the Siege of Mandalore arc is going to be, there are also some good moments that I’m looking forward to. Rex and Ahsoka reunite after she left the Order. I’ve really been enjoying watching the gradual evolution of their relationship, from Captain and Commander, to colleagues that respect each other, to friends, and then brother and sister. Or ori’vod and vod’ika, if we’re going with the headcanon of clones knowing Mando’a and creating their own culture out of what they can glean from their Mandalorian origins. Rex is definitely ori’vod.
Rex is finally promoted to commander so we get a little bit of Commander Rex for a while, and isn’t that just a delicious thought thot.
Ahsoka essentially gets her own company in the form of the 332nd and they all paint their helmets in a pattern inspired by the markings on her montrals, which is just so damn sweet and adorable.
Rex and Ahsoka fighting side by side, even if some of it is against chip controlled clones.
From what I can gather, this entire arc is mainly about Rex and Ahsoka, with a showdown with Maul thrown in. They both go through the wringer and there’s going to be everything from hilarious one liners, to heartfelt moments, to the absolute emotional devastation that is Order 66 and all that it wrought upon them.
Tumblr media
Out of the arcs that are left, they’re a mix of ‘somewhat interested’, ‘fairly ambivalent’ and ‘really not sure what to expect’. I’m fairly ambivalent about the rest of the Onderon rebels arc, which ends in another unnecessary fridging of a female character. At least Steela was more sensible and had more nuance. I could see her evolving into a great leader, in a similar vein to Leia. Saw is just another boring arrogant male who turns into a ‘for the greater good’ monster. The consequences of his actions have disastrous effects for the Empire and the rebels, or anyone who even slightly opposes the Empire. He’s not a good person and definitely falls into the ‘an enemy of my enemy is my friend/temporary ally’ camp.
I’m ‘fairly ambivalent’ to almost disinterested in ‘The Disappeared’ arc. Anything involving Jar Jar Binks is always deeply painful and uncomfortable to watch, a point I’ve made before, so I’m not going to blither on about it again.
The final arc of season 6 just sounds weird and all very ~mystical~ Jedi. Or more Jedi osik as the more cynical of the clones would probably say.
Tumblr media
The Ahsoka arc in the middle of season 7 is one I’m really not sure what to expect from. I’m looking forward to meeting Trace and Rafa and I’m all for more women of colour in Star Wars. It’ll also give more context to the episode ‘Decommissioned’ from The Bad Batch and help understand exactly who they are and why they’re coincidentally looking for the same Separatist tactical droid as the Batch. It’ll also be interesting to see what happens to Ahsoka after she leaves the order and get a sense for what she’s been up to and how she’s managed to survive and cope since. I’m not sure if this arc is in chronological order with the rest of the season. Though the last episode does appear to link into the Siege of Mandalore arc, so maybe it is. The official chronological order lists this arc as happening before the Bad Batch arc and after the season 6 finale arc, so I guess that solves that then.
Aside from The Bad Batch arc, there’s no whole episode or arc that I’m actually looking forward to watching. This seems to be the main structure to TCW, hilarious comedic moments and heartfelt scenes interspersed between a whole lot of emotional devastation and heart wrenching endings. I’m still glad I’m finally watching The Clone Wars but the emotional ride from certain episodes and arcs has been something else. I’m so glad fix-it fics exist, because I’m going to need to read so many after all of this is said and done.
I know this might seem like I’m complaining but I’m not. I’m simply being open and honest about my experiences watching The Clone Wars. I am enjoying watching it all, even if ‘enjoying’ doesn’t quite feel like the right word with all of the pain and despair and misery that happens.
I’ve got a lot left to watch and not much time to watch it in but I’m also going to make sure I enjoy it as well. I’ll be sad when it’s finished but I am very happy and glad that I finally started watching The Clone Wars.

Desperate Times
read it on the AO3 at https://archiveofourown.org/works/43492813 by Starstarc “Well it certainly looks like you enjoyed yourself regardless.” Cody said with a side eye that rivalled Windu’s. By now they were in a blessedly empty corridor where Obi-Wan could easily interrogate him. “And what do you mean by that Commander?” “Oh nothing, you just look very relaxed although a bit sore given how you're walking, must’ve been a hell of a fight down there.” The smirk in place did little to comfort Obi-Wan as he attempted to keep his face perfectly neutral. “Oh you know how it is, those sith are rather ruthless when they want to be.” He smiled amicably and prayed to the force that the matter would lay to rest. “Oh of course…” Obi-Wan smiled and felt his shoulders relax, “But that doesn’t explain the rather impressive hickey on your neck.” --- Or Obi-Wan makes a habit of flirting meaninglessly with his enemies, however he may have met his match in a new Sith apprentice. This leads to various innuendoes, sexually charged fights and the occasional tender moment as the universe throws every conceivable trope at them. Eldritch Everyone
I have read fantastic stories where Obi Wan/ the Jedi are Eldritch creatures and other stories where the Clones are Eldritch, because of Kaminoan experiments. Let's merge the two with a twist.
The twist is they are different types of eldritch beings who do not know the other is Eldritch.
As always disregard any established lore that contradicts this.
With the clones it is because of Kaminoan experimentation. It will never be quite clear what the Kamnioan’s were trying to do…or if they accomplished their goal. But the Kaminoan experiments on the Clones (with the exception of Boba Fett) genome connected with…something beyond. Something they had no idea what to account for.
For the Eldritch Clones I am taking heavy inspiration from the incomparable Quarra’s The Force of my Love.  The Clones are a hivemind, existing paradoxically as part of the hive and individually all at once.  Their forms are nigh on indestructible and mutable, meaning they can shapeshift (they, in fact, make the choice to keep Jango Fett’s face and shape as their ‘main form’-partially due to spite, partially because the Kaminoans expect it). They are able to travel instantaneously to any clone that is part of the Hivemind(by contrast this instantaneous travel is limited to only to other members of the hivemind).  Unlike Quarra’s clones they cannot tell the difference between Sith and Jedi(for reasons that will be elaborated on later). They have eidetic memory which, combined with the hive mind, means that what one knows all of them know and none of them ever forget.  This version of the clones have no particular connection to Mandalorian culture, nor any other culture, save perhaps the Jedi (The propaganda that they are created for the Jedi still exists and frankly pales in comparison to how awesome the Jedi actually are).
The Jedi are Eldritch through their connection to the Force, which is sentient (by certain definitions) but so utterly alien to anything on the mortal plane that there is no direct comparison. Now it needs to be made clear from the first that it is not just Force sensitivity that makes one Eldritch, the connection to the Force is just not strong enough.  There are additional rituals that the Jedi, and the Sith of Old, go through to become what could be considered Avatars of the Force (specifically the Light Side for the Jedi). These rituals were passed down from before the split between Sith and Jedi.
I say Sith of Old here, because Bane, in creating his rule of two, did away with many of those rituals (never realizing their worth) because several of them required more than 2 participants.  There are three rituals in particular that apply here. First is a ritual to allow oneself to fill completely with the Force (making themselves, for a lack of better terminology, larger than their mortal forms), which Bane kept as he believed it simply made one more powerful (and could be accomplished alone). The second ritual, also one that Bane kept, helped to hide the Banite Sith from the Jedi(it also disguised what was happening to the Banite Sith due to the first ritual, even from themselves), though that had always been a side effect of the ritual, not its intended purpose; this ritual is the reason that the Clones cannot sense Jedi and Sith seperately. The third ritual makes one a conduit of the Force (letting the Force pass through oneself) which Bane did away with. It is important here because mortal beings are not meant to be filled to the brim with the Force, without the release valve of the second ritual it causes them to rot from the inside out.   This is important because by the old definition of Sith, the Force Cult that has dedicated themselves to being the Avatars of the Dark Side of the Force, there has not been a Sith since Darth Bane (barring one exception) and why the Banite Sith tend to rot while still living, the longer they are immersed in the Dark Side.  Dooku did not rot because he had done the rituals as a Jedi, though he had not dedicated himself specifically to the Dark, so he never took on the title of True Sith. Ventress, through her training with Ky Narec, had also completed most of the Jedi rituals, meaning she was not a Sith but as closer to it than Palpatine. It was actually Maul who, in growing up submerged in the Dark like he had been, accidentally completed a version of the lost second ritual, and became a True Sith in the old meaning of the word.
These rituals are meant to immerse a Force Sensitive in the Force itself, giving the connection more strength than it would have otherwise.  The Force abilities that we see the Jedi, and the Sith use, are because of the Rituals and why those that do not go through either version have much subtler/weaker abilities. It also means that the Jedi (and the Sith of old+Maul) give off the eerie impression that, no matter the size or species, they are somehow so much larger than they appear. That there is something beneath their skin trying to get out. Also being plugged directly into Force in the way that they are skews the way they view reality.   It can be hard for the Jedi to connect with beings that are not at least a little Force Sensitive and the Jedi care deeply, but sometimes cannot see what the actual problem is (saying ‘there is no death there is only the force’ is not meant to be a trite saying nor do many of the Jedi quite understand why it is not as comforting as they think it is).
At the beginning of the Clone Wars, both the Jedi and the Clones hide their eldritch nature from each other. Both groups had experienced how showing their nature to the wrong people can break minds and they had no wish to hurt the other.
The first sign that something was…strange was how in sync both groups were.  The Jedi marveled that the clones never cringed at the sight of them (and that which moved under their skin when they lost focus). The Clones were ecstatic that the Jedi never questioned when they had knowledge they should not have, nor the few occasions when multiple clones spoke from the same mouth.
Nat born officers would make comments, not directly but meant to be overheard, how the Jedi Padawans grew more ‘other’ every time they visited the Temple on Coruscant. The clones would only stare blankly, to them it seemed like the Padawans were simply growing into themselves.
Various Jedi and clones began to fall into love (Familial, romantic, sexual, platonic, and other).  It is Depa Billaba and Gray who first confess, and in confessing reveal their respective natures (Depa is the one who made the first move-as soon as the Clones knew of the Jedi’s nature they each sought out their Jedi).
The main reason that Jedi do not get in romantic relationships with non Force Sensitives (and Padme has no Force Sensitivity) is that theri nature pushes them to connect at the deepest level they can with their loved ones.  This can mentally damage non Force Sensitives.
For Obi Wan, if Cody had not confessed, Obi Wan never would have.  He had tried, before, to have romantic relationships with non force sensitives. A few times he had even managed to deny his own nature until the relationship dissolved naturally (Obi Wan, like most Jedi could be…odd, even when trying to fit in). It had become clear through his life that it just was not worth the pain to act on those kinds of feelings.  The knowledge that Cody could bond with him fully, was interested in him both romantically and sexually was a joy. Obi Wan was not even off put that by dating on clone, he was in affect dating all of the clones at once (who were also dating other Jedi)
Sometimes the Clones and Jedi switched partners. For instance Mace Windu, who was primarily dating Ponds, loved the Theater, which Ponds was ambivalent about but Bly also loved the theater (which Aayla actively disliked). So Bly and Mace had a standing monthly date night to a variety of theaters all over the galaxy, and at least once a year end up acting in a performance. Or how Fox was one of the only Clones that was not bored stupid at the Anniversary Ball, a pretentious event of a small but rich mid rim planet to celebrate the ratifying of a treaty, that Obi Wan is required to go to every year (even the years he was actively at war). So Fox is Obi Wan’s date, while Cody and Vos (who primarily dated the Coruscant Guard), would use the night to break up some kind of ring(slavery, drugs, smuggling, etc.)
Rex found that he fit neatly into Padme and Anakin’s relationship, somehow providing a stabilizing influence on their bond.  Padme and Anakin had bonded after the first battle of Geonosis but it was a case of Anakin being young and stupid and reckless, and Padme not actually understanding what Anakin was talking about when he tried to explain the risks (She thought he was saying that it might hurt her, and she was reassuring him that she trust him to be careful. He thought she was saying that she knew about the risks and was Force Sensitive enough to not be harmed).  There was already some damage done to  Padme’s mind (mostly in terms of willpower, personality, and impulse control) by the time Rex joined the bond, and not all of it was correctable, but most was.
It is not the Jedi and the Clones that disrupt Palpatine’s plans (though the chips never worked, so eventually they would have). It was Dooku, Ventress, and Maul. Maul was the first True Sith, though it was accidental, in almost 1000 years. Dooku knew what it meant to be Jedi/Sith in the original sense and could tell that Palpatine did not. Ventress, like Dooku, had gone through the Jedi versions of the rituals (those rituals may have been passed down since before the split, but time had caused a bit of difference).  Because Palpatine has the deeper connection to the Force but not release valve, for lack of a better term, he is more immediately powerful but in the long run is doing far more damage to himself than he realizes.  Sometime before Maul would have gone after Satine, he encounters Ventress, who recognizes him as an actual Sith and brings him to Dooku.
These three decide that they are going to destroy Palpatine (for being a Pretended Sith) and rebuild the actual Sith Order with the full Sith rituals. Maul is a bit surprised to realize that he, by himself, is more than a match for Palpatine (Since this was the man that had tormented him since childhood; he always had the picture that Palptine was bigger than life). Dooku then publishes all of the wrong doings he knew of from Palpatine’s entire circle-CIS and Republic alike- (and he knew about 80% of what was eventually uncovered). Then all three of them fuck off to Morriban to begin their research into resurrecting the Sith Order.
The Jedi Order and the Clones collectively decide to let them, on the basis that at least they know where the three Sith are and it keeps them busy.

“— And then you stir the sugar with the jogan juice and one teaspoon of extract. Drizzle the sugar icing before slicing to serve.”
“Sounds delicious, Sir,” Cody replied warmly, silently sliding the new power pack into his blaster.
“I can’t thank you enough, Cody,” Obi-Wan said, sounds of mixing batter in the background coming to a stop for a moment. “I’m sorry I ruined your quiet evening. I shouldn’t have troubled you in the first place.”
Cody dodged around a shipping container, daring the plastic bag full of icing sugar to make a sound and give his position away. “You’re no trouble, Sir,” he assured and huffed out a quiet laugh at the murmured “I’ve heard differently” before moving to the next cover. “As long as I get my promised cake slice, it’s all good.”
“You’re too good to me, Commander.” The mixing started up again. “When will you arrive at the Temple?”
“ETA 30 minutes, Sir,” Cody replied absently, rolling his shoulders in preparation as he stepped out of the shadows and into the thugs’ view. “See you soon, General.” He switched off the comm and turned his attention back to the advancing bandits. “I had to take this call. Where were we?”

i love force-sensitive! cody as much as the next guy (cause frankly the man deserves to rack some havoc with a lightsaber it)
but on the other hand force-null! cody that vibe checks every jedi he happens upon and kills palpatine by the sheer size of his balls and competence well that's just poetic

10 Fandoms, 10 Characters, 10 Tags
Thanks for the tag @tsarinatorment 🥰
Im not going to try to really put them in any order but...
Uchiha Shisui (Naruto)
Tumblr media
We all been knew 🥴 to me, Shisui is just the perfect kind of character to play protagonist with, with enough badassery and charm to come out on top but with the sweetness and the last scraps of his idealism to soften his edges. Kishi, however, threw him down the toilet at the nearest opportunity (which was just so 🤌bullshit🤌 I'm almost - almost- impressed) because he realised he Gone Fucked Up making this amazingly powerful character with no hint of him in prior work so 🤡 canon is dead, Shisui lives forever
Finn (Star Wars movies)
Tumblr media
Anyone who's had the misfortune to follow me or has browsed my AO3 bookmarks knows I'm a wreck for Commander Cody and for Obi-Wan but I'm not choosing either of them? How??? Because Finn... FINN, he was literally raised to be canon fodder but he had this deep rooted fear that what they were doing was wrong and he didn't shoot and he took that fear and he knew he had to run. So often we wanna be brave in those moments but in actual fact we just panic, which is what Finn did... And yet he was so brave too? He saved Poe, he fought viciously for Ray, he joined the Rebellion, he met these people for minutes at a time but had already impressed them on his soul, on who he was going to be (and he'd only had a name as of that day???). Finn should've been the protagonist of that trilogy, the sequels were just...well, and I'll die on this hill that Finn's force sensitivity reaalllly should've meant something 😩 I love so many SWs characters but Finn is really the one that got me to actually attempt my own Fics too!
Obi (Akagami no Shirayukihime/Snow White with the Red Hair)
Tumblr media
Do I Have a type? .... Next question.
Obi is just ✨🤌 ✨ badass with a mysterious background? ✅ Loyal but sassy? ✅ Pining for the 'lady' he is sworn to protect?✅ Is also her partner in life and crime? ✅ Low self worth but flirtatious? ✅ Gorgeous but dangerous? ✅ .... ✨💕
Yor (Spy x Family)
Tumblr media
She is literally the best mother oh my God just kiss your husband though (and maybe get some space from your brother-)
Fíli (The Hobbit)
Tumblr media
I JUST-
🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 little golden lion prince, heir to his uncle, to a kingdom only told in stories of grandeur he's never seen and with all the hope and grief of his displaced and hurting people.... Mischievous but sensitive, funny (the hidden knives hehe), determined to do his family and people proud (cut down far too quickly, deserved better... Oh god I have a type-)
Boromir (The Lord of the Rings)
Tumblr media
Why do I keep listing dead guys 😭 do I need to spell it out? Honor, desperation, valour, love of his people, he is high-key aroace rep, his resentment-to-love bromance with Aragorn that was ROBBED from us, I cannot tell if Merry and Pippin wanted to queerplatonic marry him or if they wanted him as their "getaway horse" for the rest of their lives but dammit 😭✨🤌
Evelyn Carnahan (The Mummy)
Tumblr media
Do I need to even give reasons????? She's miles ahead of all those other scholar bitches, she's out there winning desert camel races, she's a reincarnated princess with daggers, she has the most gorgeous hair and eyeliner I swear to God, she is THE moment… For all time. She's a LIBRARIAN
Din Djarin (The Mandalorian)
Tumblr media
*flips desk through solid concrete wall* HE'S THE PERFECT MAND'ALOR
PERFECT FATHER
COOLEST INTROVERT IN THE GALAXY
He is SOFT and SOFT-SPOKEN
He is STERN (except in face of baby's wet eyes) and LOYAL and he has an HONOR CODE DAMMIT STOP TAKING ADVANTAGE HIM
This doesn't count as a star wars pick, which I gave to Finn, because we are, as usual, swerving completely off canon (and this is a TV series, not the movies ha!) because you cannot convince me that Din, the wandering bamf who just wants to get credits for all the kids in his covert and provide for his home but cannot participate in the maiming of an 'alien' child so gets landed in so much shit, wouldn't be exactly what the Mandalorians need for a fucking Renaissance dammit 😤😤😤😤
Hawks (Boku no Hero Academia/ My Hero Academia)
Tumblr media
*covers my face in shame* ffs it's so transparent lol
FINAL PICK - WILDCARD: Éowyn(The Lord of the Rings)
Tumblr media
Ohhhhhhh and it's the Shieldmaiden of Rohan with the steel chair! The Witch King goes down, and he's not getting back up-! 3! 2! 1! And the crowd goes BALLISTIC!!!
I want to write a fic about her 😐 I want her to have a whole alter ego as one of the Rohirrim's best warriors 😳 I want her, seventeen and coltish, to down her first orc, standing in defense of another, and to know with absolute certainty that she wanted to protect everyone she could… 👁️👁️ yes I know I already did lotr but you're what??? Gonna stop HER???

The Clone Wars 2x5 'Landing at Point Rain' Reaction
YEET THE CLONE
Tumblr media
Gif from this post by @elivanto
Is this the first instance that we see of Yeet the Clone? I’m pretty sure it is. If so, then what a beautiful introduction to one of the Jedi’s favourite pastimes: Yeeting their Clones. Poor Rex. I also loved the part before this where he just appears behind the Droideka that Ahsoka was fighting on the top of the wall, smoothly and silently steps through its shield and then puts a blaster bolt through the back of its head a la Trinity to Agent Smith in The Matrix. Certified Rex Is A Badass moment and it was a really well shot and framed moment that emphasised just how highly skilled the clones are. I did wonder how he got up to the top of the giant wall that quickly though. Rex, did you yeet yourself up there? Do you secretly want to be yeeted?
I hadn’t really clocked onto this until this episode but it’s reminder that Rex is also an ARC, along with being the absolute BAMF that he is and The Captain to everyone. I was watching episodes 2x6 and 2x7 (more to come on those later) and was wondering why Cody didn’t have a kama. Surely Marshal Commander Cody has a kama? Is Cody not an ARC? Wookieepedia doesn’t list him as one so I’m guessing he mustn’t be, which seems decidedly odd seeing as he, along with Rex, are basically held up as examples of the ultimate clone. Though The Bad Batch aren’t ARCs but then they are a special category of genetically enhanced commandos in a spec ops squad of their own. Does this mean kama’s are purely an ARC thing? Either way, Rex looks suitably badass in his kama and Cody should get one too, as a treat. More clones in kamas pls.
Just after poor Rex gets yeeted off the wall by both of his jedis’, we very clearly see that Jedi are able to safely slow and stop the descent of a clone who is falling from a great height. They can even do this while falling from a great height themselves. So where is The Bad Batch’s jedi to stop Tech’s fall? Hmmmmmm?! I have Thoughts about this that I may cobble together into a post at a later date.
Hello to Trapper, who we’re introduced to as the only other survivor along with Obi-Wan from when their troop transport (I think they’re LAAT/i’s?) was shot down and crashed. I’m always slightly worried when we’re introduced to a new named clone. I thought Wooley was absolute Red Shirt material (to mix metaphors with the two main sci-fi franchises that start with Star) when he was introduced in 1x20 ‘Innocents of Ryloth’. The setup did not seem like it bode well for his survival. Four clones go off on their own on a dangerous mission to scout ahead. Wooley, the only clone out of the group without paint on their armour, is paired up with Cody (who has plot armour) and the other two clones, Waxer and Boil, have both been introduced and characterised at the start of this episode. Wooley was set up to be the obvious Red Shirt of the group, doomed to be blasted by the first droid they encounter while the main characters are left to struggle on in a desperate bid to complete their mission. Don’t get me wrong, I was very glad it didn’t happen! Subverting expectations like that worked well in this situation and the entire narrative focus was on Waxer and Boil anyway. More clones need to live.
That was one thing that stood out to me in this episode, the sheer number of clones that were killed right in front of us. There were so many. It was a constant pattern throughout the episode. Clone after clone after clone dying, and for what? I’m assuming this is the writers making a point about the futility of war and the utterly pointless loss of life. On top of all this, the clones are just expected to keep going, always moving forward, nothing else mattering apart from following orders (*sobs*) and completing the mission. It was a very sobering way of emphasising the lot of the clones and the way they’re treated and viewed. Just the sheer number of LAAT/i’s alone that were shot down was so stark, and each of those carries 35 troops. Or at least that’s what Wookieepedia says. I didn’t think they looked large enough to carry that many troops in the episode, probably closer to around 10 or so clones.
On a lighter note, I really enjoyed how a number of the LAAT/i’s had custom nose art! There was one with what looked like a nexu that I think appeared twice and another with a very cool looking clone trooper helmet that drawn to look like a skull. I love little in-universe touches like that. Ok I’ve done a little bit more digging and omg the LAAT/i with the nexu nose art is called the Bad Kitty! I am crying, this is hilarious, I love it.
Also, Cody can you come and get your husband. He’s all dusty and dirty and slumped against some boxes in the middle of a battlefield pretending not to be injured. Somewhere in the background is the decidedly miffed countenance of the 212th’s medic. Do we ever discover who the medic of the 212th is? Does Ghost Company have a medic? The only medic I know of is Kix and he hasn’t been introduced yet, plus he’s with the 501st anyway.
This is all further confirmation that I am entirely here for the clones. Sure the jedi with their fancy laser swords are cool and all that and I will admit that I’m growing rather fond of Ahsoka. But the clones. The Clones. Give me everything about the clones.

Anakin's hand is giving him shit
Rex knows his general better than Anakin thinks, and Ahsoka surprises everyone once again with her skills
IT'S THE GANG!!!! Obi-Wan, Anakin, Ahsoka, Rex, Cody
They're stuck in the middle of nowhere, maybe waiting for a pick up after their ship was destroyed??
Everything's fine, they've dealt with whatever it was that needed to be dealt with, but it's gonna be another couple days before anyone can come pick them up
Anakin’s robotic hand was damaged in the initial crash, and had only gotten worse as he continued to use it over the next few days.
We ALL know baby boy is NOT one to talk about his issues or ask for help, so after everything has died down and they're just waiting around, he sits in a corner quietly, pulls out a tool box, and cracks open his arm.
(It still kinda freaks him out, but he's much more used to it than when it was first...installed??)
He tries so hard
But he can only hold one tool at a time, he's drained from the previous few days so figures using the force is not the best idea (his brain is running on 20 minutes of sleep and all the emergency caf they could find in the wreckage), and he can only actually get in there from one or two angles
He makes it worse
And decides to give up, forgo the use of that arm, and just wait it out until he can get back to the temple and get it fixed properly.
Except, in making it worse, he had crossed a couple wires somewhere and that was... causing problems
(This could be funny? With his hand just....grabbing random things and waving around, out of his control. But I'm gonna go the slightly angsty route)
"Problems" here, meaning something was up with the electronics, and it kept shocking him.
At first it was easy to ignore, similar to a static shock, up his arm every couple of minutes.
But as time goes on, it just keeps getting worse. The shocks are getting stronger, and they're happening more frequently
Soon enough they've gone from barely noticeable static shocks up his arm, to strong electric shocks that travel across his chest, and down his other arm.
He tries to grit his teeth through it, but at this rate, he reckons he'll end up cracking his teeth before sundown on the first day
(The transmission from the temple was sketchy, but from what Cody and Rex could make out, it would be at least another 72 hours before someone could get out there)
I don't know how long he sits there in pain, everyone else has gone to sleep (he'd volunteered to take the first watch, he figured he wasn't gonna get much sleep anyway)
He tries to like,,,, justify to himself that this is good!! Actively practicing his high pain tolerance! Keeping him awake so he can protect the others! Reminding him to keep his mechanics skills sharp!!
Except all that is a bunch of bullshit, he just doesn't want to disappoint Obi-Wan by asking for help, especially in front of the others
Rex had volunteered to take the next watch, Anakin was planning on just...not waking him up, but that mans internal clock is flawless, and the second it reaches 2 hours since he first fell asleep, he's wide awake and walking towards where his general is sitting
Anakin is so preoccupied with not yelping every time he gets shocked, he doesn't even notice Rex walking towards him
Until
The next shock is a bad one, his whole body seizes up, his breath stops midway through a pained gasp, and his eyes fly wide open as his non-mechanical hand pushes his lightsabre into the table with so much force, he absentmindedly thinks he might have broken bones.
It lasts only a second or two, but when his body untenses, he let's out a low, pained gasp, and carefully brings his (almost certainly broken hand) to his chest.
Rex's eyes widen at the obvious, extreme pain Anakin was in, and he quietly rushes over (trying not to waken the others, but also needing to see what was wrong)
He crouches in front of Anakin, who's eyes are shut, head tilted towards the floor
"Sir? Is everything alright?"
Anakin looks up in shock (later he'll berate himself for being so unaware of his surroundings) before letting out a breath and forcing a smile:
"Yeah yeah, sorry Rex I didn't mean to wake you. You can go back to sleep."
"Sir with all due respect, you haven't slept more than 20 minutes since we first crashed. Are you injured?"
Anakin tries to brush him off, but before even a word can come out, another shock seizes his body.
This one isn't as bad as the last, but the sudden contraction of his muscles causes his now broken hand to spasm painfully, and he let's out a whimper
Anakin sees the way Rex's eyes sweep him (he's a trained soldier after all, the only way he can look after his men is to asses any injuries quickly) pausing momentarily on both his hands
He tuts quietly and gets up to walk away, coming back after just a moment moment, with a medkit in one hand, and an empty crate in the other
Anakin opens his mouth to protest, another "I'm fine, go back to sleep," on his tongue, but the disapproving look Rex flashes his way shuts him up.
He sets the crate down in front of Anakin’s seat, sits himself down, and opens the medkit.
With one hand, he pulls out bandages, and the other hand, he holds out in front of him, semi patiently.
Anakin almost protests again, but Rex wordlessly raises an eyebrow and gestures to his broken hand
With a sigh, Anakin hands over his freshly broken hand, and Rex silently bandages it, not acknowledging the way his general is gritting his teeth and flinching (he figures Anakin is not the type to want to be comforted through the process)
Another shock runs through Anakin, but quick as lightening, Rex clamps the broken hand between his own, preventing the fingers or wrist from spasming too much and causing more damage.
He looks up at Anakin, to see his eyes clamped shut and his jaw incredibly tense:
"It's over sir, you need to relax your jaw or it'll break." comes out so quietly Anakin only just hears it, but he obeys and slowly let's out a breath as he unclenches his teeth.
Rex looks back down and continues to wrap bandages securely around the hand, giving an approving hum a few minutes later as he ties it off.
"Done. What's up with the other one? I'm assuming that's what's shocking you?"
Rex of course knows the hand is what's shocking him, but this would all go much more smoothly if his general stopped being so stoic and allowed an actual conversation about it
Anakin gives a nod, he holds on to the idea of just thanking Rex for the bandages and sending him to bed again, but he's not sure he can put up with this for another 2 and a half days.
Plus, he figures that Rex wouldn't obey that order at this point anyway, even if he tried to pull rank. His captain was very stubborn when it came to the wellbeing of his men (coughfriendscough)
"Yeah, it got bounced around pretty hard when we first.... uh.... landed. It started shocking me a few hours ago. It was fine at first but it's gotten worse. Clearly."
He looks slightly sheepish at this, but Rex doesn't comment, just nods and gestures towards it
"I can take a look if you want? I'm no master mechanic but I'm pretty good at basic stuff. I could figure out something temporary, at least until we get picked up and an actual professional can take a look at it."
"Uuh yeah sure I guess. But if you make it worse I'm putting you in sanitary for a week, after you knock me out so I don’t have to feel it." It comes with a smirk, but its forced, obviously still in pain
Rex thinks at this point some pain meds would probably do them some good, but even if they had any, he knows the Jedi would almost certainly refuse them
Over the years of working together, Rex has gotten the impression, that General Skywalker doesn't like feeling out of control, in anyway. Of himself and his own actions, or the situations around him.
Once again, Anakin finds himself cracking open his arm, flinching away as it sparks slightly, and pulling the toolbox over to be set in front of him
Rex absentmindedly thinks about how oddly specific the fear in his generals mind is right now; of something dangerous, that will inevitably continue to cause him pain, that is not only permanently attached to his person, but that he also has to rely on for use every single day. Not that Anakin would ever admit to that fear, and not that it was ever really at the forefront of his mind. But a small and odd and specific fear nonetheless.
Rex holds the torch between his teeth as he moves wires and components around with the tools in his hands, he just needs to have a look around first, see what's what
"Can you actually feel the hand sir, or were the nerve endings left unattached?" is mumbled around the torch,
"I can... feel that it's there? And I can feel when I touch things, but it doesn't burn if I put it through a flame, for example. It doesn't hurt."
Rex gives a short nod as he continues to move things around. Anakin hasn't been shocked since he started looking so maybe it's something to do with the hatch mechanism??
(I actually don't know anything about mechanics as you've probably figured out by now, but Rex does so.... he's got this...maybe)
ANYWAY they're still working on it, Anakin occasionally being shocked (though not nearly as bad as before) and trying to give pointers to Rex, who has figured out by now that his knowledge on ship engineering wasn't nearly as applicable as he thought to his generals (admittedly, Wicked) robot hand, when Ahsoka wakes up for her turn to watch.
Anakin looks worried for a second before he covers it with nonchalance as she wonders over with a raised eyebrow:
"Master? Rex? Everything alright?"
"Uh yeah Snips everything's fine, my hand is giving me a bit of trouble, me and Rex are tryna figure it out." With an easy smile. He's desperately tryna downplay this, and shoots Rex a small glare when he raises his eyebrow at "a bit of trouble".
"What?? Why didn't you say anything? Rex move over, I did tons of research on mechanical prosthetics when Master Obi-Wan first told me about your hand. I can probably fix it in like 10 minutes."
Rex isn't surprised at Ahsoka’s admission, she does seem like the type to quietly research anything and everything if it means she can use it to help people.
Anakin is definitely taken aback though, she'd never even mentioned his hand before, honestly he wasn't sure if she'd actually noticed. The idea that she'd put effort into research may have made him tear up a bit, but no one notices
At a quick nod from the general, Rex moves to stand, and Ahsoka quickly takes his place, silently asking him to continue holding the torch as she works:
"Maker, what've you guys done in here? It's a mess. No wonder it's giving you trouble." She sounds disapproving, and despite only being 17 years old, that tone always manages to make Rex and Anakin feel just a little sheepish, not that they would ever tell her that.
"Well... I'm only really any good at ship engineering, and the General couldn't really see in there to tell me what to do sooooo... I mean.... group effort?"
Anakin stutters at that, and Ahsoka snorts, before telling him to "Sit still Skyguy, as much as I think it would be damn near impossible for me to make this worse, I don't want to push my luck."
He turns even more red at that, but stills himself and waits patiently waits for Ahsoka to finish her initial assessment, and declare it a lost cause
Or what he thought, was just initial assessment.
True to her word, after 10 minutes, she shuts up the hatch, puts the tools down and brushes her hands off.
"Ok so you can move it around a bit, but do NOT hit it on anything or move it too quickly. It's pretty loose in there, and if you knock something out of alignment, it'll start shocking you again. It'll be fine for now, but you'll need to get it properly fixed when we get back to the temple. I could probably do it but it might be best to get a professional, just in case. Make sure to get some spare parts as well, I can add them to my pack in case this happens again whilst we're out and about. You two get to bed. Something tells me you've been at this for a while." She says the last bit with a smirk
Rex chuckles to himself, thanks her quietly, and heads back to his spot after throwing a quick glance Anakin’s way
Anakin stares at his Padawan, looking at her in a slightly new light, but looks away when she raises an eyebrow
He stands and gives a sincere thanks with a hand on her shoulder:
"No problem Skyguy, anytime. You don't have to suffer in silence ya know. You remember how pissed you were when I hid that blaster wound from you last month?"
"Yeah yeah I know. Thanks again Snips, and watch your language."
Ahsoka rolls her eyes and shuffles into a more comfortable position as Anakin wonders back to his bedroll
As he begins to drift to sleep, for the first time in days, he makes a mental note to mention her skills to the council.
He hadn't realised her knowledge in mechanics and engineering had grown so much, but he definitely wants to see just how good she is, and encourage it even more.
~
THE END
Man I just really love bonding between the gang. Also we KNOW Anakin is good at this sorta stuff, and I'm like 99% certain that it's taught (at least the basics) to clones and Jedi Younglings sooooo
Also can you imagine baby boy's excitement when he realises Ahsoka is almost as into mechanics/engineering as he is??
As always gang, you wanna write it up all proper, go for it, credit and tag me✌
