@somestorythoughts
Sorry it took me a bit to get back to this,  I saw it, thought ‘I need to answer it’, went back to work, and then the thought escaped.
For this one I actually picture that Palpatine did not realize that Order 66 did not work until midway through day 3. For a few different reasons.
First, The 501st, with the help of the Jedi in the temple, had the forethought to fake a comm from Anakin to Palpatine saying that the Jedi in the temple have been killed. The temple itself, very obligingly, created a realistic illusion of the temple burning (was everyone a little concerned there was a hard coded illusion of the temple being on fire ready to go, yes. Was it time to question that illusion, no) to sell the report. So as far as Palptine is concerned  Anakin completed his first orders and was now on his way to Mustafar to kill the Separatist leaders.
Second, The Jedi immediately went to ground. Had it been for more than a few days, it never would have worked.  But with a herculean effort by the clones, the Jedi, and the friends of the Jedi they managed to get everyone out of sight before the chaos could die down enough for Palpatine and his supporters to realize that ‘hey, aren’t you supposed to be dead?’
Third, the scope of genocide, betrayal, horror, and death that Order 66 would have brought about is unprecedented. The Mandalorian Excision comes close in some ways, but far off in others (both because of the fact there was not the same level of trust between the Jedi and the Mandalorians as there was between the Jedi and the Clones, and because the brainwashing by the chips doubled or tripled the horror). And even then, the Excision was well before Palpatine's lifetime.  Until it happens there is no real way to know how the Force would react. Or that was Palpatine’s reasoning when the Force did not seem to darken as much as he thought it would with the activation of Order 66.
Fourth, Palpatine was more focused on his victory than on the inconsistencies for the first few days.  He could not conceive that the major parts of the plan (being elected emperor, Order 66 being called, Anakin falling) could appear to go off without a hitch and not being successful.
As it was, it was not until mid day three that he was paying enough attention to realize that the Clones were not acting correctly for Order 66 to be live. And if Order 66 was not live then the Jedi were not dead.
For the Jedi, and the clones, much of the second day was spent going ‘What the Fuck’, with much of the first going to play ‘hide the Jedi at all costs’. Because of the actions of Pong Krell and Anakin Skywalker, none of the Jedi Shadow were sure who to trust with the knowledge of the chips (Yes,everyone was certain they could trust some Jedi:  Mace Windu, Yoda, Shaak Ti, Plo Koon, Vokara Che, Aayla Secura, Jocasta Nu, and Obi Wan Kenobi were all universally trusted. Plus each Shadow-barring Ahsoka, who could not trust her own judgment after Anakin and Barris- had a list of Jedi that they, personally, trusted that other Shadows were not sure about). As they were able to find a way to prevent the chips from taking control, it was implemented without the majority of the Jedi or clones finding out about the chips.
Until Order 66 went live, and suddenly all of the clones knew they were meant to kill the Jedi. Even if they were not being forced to.
As of the moment that Order 66 went live; three members of the high council were dead (Kit Fisto,Saesee Tiin, and Agen Kolar ), one was missing and would be presumed dead once anyone took a moment to think about it (Mace Windu, who was not dead but would not be found- comatose, gravely injured, and laying in a weird crevasse created by an awkward intersection between two levels- until a day after the Palpatine’s empire crumbled back into a Republic), six members were in active battle (Yoda, Obi Wan, Stass Allie, Oppo Rancisis, Luminara Unduli, Ki-Adi-Mundi), one member was on a mission where communication is not possible (Coleman Kacj), leaving only one member of the council (Shaak Ti) in the temple.
After everyone was hidden and the illusion that the Jedi were dead was set, the Jedi that knew about the chips on Coruscant (Shaak Ti, Vokara Che, Jocasta Nu, and 15 assorted Jedi Shadows), started to plan to take down the Sith in conjunction with the Coruscant Guard and the 501st (as the only battalions on Coruscant at the time).  Due to the fact that the Jedi were playing dead, and that the playing dead could not last long, they could not wait until there were more in the know Jedi and Clone battalions were on the planet.  Most of that time was digging up every method for killing a Force User they could find and outfitting the clones with as many slug throwers and other such weapons as possible.
They would have preferred at least another week for preparation (given that this Sith had just taken out four council members) but Palpatine figured out the dead Jedi ruse and their time was up.
During those three days, Palpatine was smart enough to mostly stick to his sweet old man facade. He did not yet have a grasp to start black bagging people or destroying planets.  About 25% of his supporters were also smart enough to keep up the facade (though in both cases it was already weaning thin). About 35% behaved in bigoted/fascist ways (showing their actual beliefs) but made sure to be subtle about it. The rest did, very vocally, start to act as if they were part of a ruling class that could do whatever they wanted (with all the horrific acts that entailed).  This 40% behaved so badly and so obviously during the three day empire that it cast suspicion on any supporter of Palpatine’s, particularly after Palaptine started shooting lightning at Shaak Ti in the middle of the Rotunda before being shot with a slug thrower by Commander Fox ( always maintain that Fox should get to kill Palpatine, as a treat-I just want you to know that the reformed Republic gave Fox a medal for killing Palpatine, to which Fox responded with ‘Huh. I would have paid for the privilege').
Anakin Faces Consequences
Thank you @killjoypolitics for the submission
I love all your ideas! I was wondering if you had any ideas for a fix-it where the Jedi or Clones (somehow) prevent Order 66 from happening but Anakin still falls. How do you think the Jedi/Senate/public would respond to his attempted murder of the Jedi? Or the marriage? Or the murder of the Sand People? I’m just so curious as to how you think people would handle it! Do you think Anakin would be able to admit he was wrong and try and make up for what he did?
Hmm those are some intriguing questions. Reading them did give me some immediate ideas. Let’s explore them.

The 'write for yourself uwu' culture shift has done real damage to fic writers imo. I recently had a post on the importance of strategic commenting break containment and I'm surprised by how many strangers who rb it in agreement feel the need to reassure in the tags that they do write for themselves, but...
There is a kernel of truth in the heart of this sentiment--if you only chase stats, you are unlikely to find joy in your writing. At the same time, I think we've veered too far in the other direction.
It is only natural to want engagement and the write for yourself crowd often overlooks how communal an effort fic writing usually is. So many story ideas are born from casual discussions about h/c's and favourite scenes and what ifs and the comment box is a cornerstone of this process. Not only can the discussions in the comment box be a hub for idea generation on their own, but even when the said idea generation takes place in DMs or Discord chats, commenting is often the first/easiest way into befriending authors; it's where community building starts.
Further, the write for yourself crowd similarly overlooks that the things a writer can write for themselves are often vast and many at any given time, and relative engagement levels across fandoms/ships can play a large part in which of those ideas a writer chooses to pursue--or whether they choose to publish their finished work at all.
In sum, I don't think we need to be this apologetic as writers for wanting feedback and engagement for what we post -- writing is hard work and it's only human that we want something external out of it in turn, however rewarding the process might intrinsically be.

Angry about Lore.fm the "AO3 Audible app"
For those who don't know, Lore.fm is an app that's advertised as "audible for AO3". It uses AI text-to-speech voices to read fics on an app completely separated from AO3 and creates a local copy of the fic audio on your device. It is stated to be non-profit.
1. It's opt-out not opt-in, that alone is a red flag and worthy of suspicion. The only way to not get your fic used without permission is to email them - it is unsafe and dubious to hand out personal email addresses to companies you don't know.
2. It takes engagement and agency away from the authors. Readers using this app don't even need to interact with the original AO3 post. Only a link is needed to generate the audio. An extension would've been significantly more ethical than an app.
3. Valid criticisms towards this project are labelled by the developer as "ableist and classist". Most devices and browsers already have FREE screen readers available. Especially for IOS (since this is mainly advertised for IOS), the existing built-in accessibility screen reader is very decent! I'd know cause I've been using it for more than a decade!
4. The developers show zero transparency. The devs listed for this app are also in a company that made an AI WRITING/STORYTELLING APP called Spinoff. The fact that this information is hidden on the appstore for Lore.fm tells me all that I need to know. I found the source for this on this comment by CupcakeBeautiful. [Edit: Unfortunately, the comment has been deleted by reddit for some reason, so I have removed the link to it.]
Tumblr media
This whole thing pisses me off. Once again it shows that people don't respect and don't care about actual fic writers. I wish people would stop exploiting fanfiction authors under the guise of accessibility. Please think carefully if this is a company/project you'd want to support.
I don't usually post things like this on this blog, but I don't think a lot of people are aware of this situation on tumblr. Please feel free to add any information that I've missed. If this post comes off as aggressive, I apologise. I am just very frustrated.

god i hate how normalized diet culture and shit like bmi and calories are. bmi is based on eugenics. calories are a measurement of how much energy something gives u and not at all of how much weight or fat ull gain. diets have been proven to be harmful and ultimately unhelpful in actually losing weight. fatness has been largely proven to not be inherently unhealthy and doesnt inherently cause health issues.
if anyone has more good links to add on then please do and if anyone knows more on this stuff than me then dont hesitate to correct me!

Marriage of convenience Regency romance? No. Marriage of convenience Regency aromance. An coerced match between an impoverished libertine bisexual aristocrat with a heart of gold and an ambitious asexual commoner heiress turns into a queerplatonic power couple love. He lets her regain, repair and run all his estates and become a political player, and she lets him fuck as many people as he wants, protects his male lovers, provides for his mistresses, and co-parents his illegimate children.
Queerplatonic bonds are everywhere in history but nowhere in queer historical novels. Allos have no imagination.

I had a couple, plus I think I stole one from my sister (we are only a year apart in age, it both is and is not as weird as it sounds). At least one of which was the ghost of a kindergarden classmate that haunted me until my mid 20's.
no nuance pick one. you can elaborate in the tags.

I know that the most common interpretation for codywan is that they are extremely competent and can be both professional and love each other at the same time (don't get me wrong I absolutely love this and believe it completely)
however, I do think they deserve to be a little pathetic about each other
obviously there is the god tier trope of cody flirting back at obi-wan for the first time and obi-wan is completely flustered. but also, both obi-wan and cody being head over heels in love and being frustrated/annoyed with themselves because they should be better than this force-dammit!!
obi-wan, after cody teased him about loosing his lightsaber again: *dreamily sighs* cody smiled at me and my lightsaber feels so content with him *smiling like an idiot and blushing so hard his face is bright red*
also obi-wan to himself, two seconds later: get yourself together, you aren't a padawan anymore this is just embarrassing at this age also YOU ARE A HIGH COUNCILER PLEASEEEEEE
and the same thing going for cody like-
cody after obi-wan complimented him on his strategy during a meeting: thank you, sir *trying desperately to ignore the blush creeping onto his face* internally- oh kriff i love him hes so nice and considerate and WHY AM I ACTING LIKE AN IDIOT I AM A MARSHALL COMMANDER I AM TOO BUSY TO ACT LIKE THIS
idk just codywan getting to be a bit lovesick about each other and then being disappointed/frustrated with themselves (they are a bit pathetic and i love them for it)

This is amazing, Thank you for taking this idea and running with it
Actually, speaking of Obi-wan, my brain's been on some alternate order 66 codywan crack for like, the past day and a half.
cause, in the Clone Wars tv series, there's this line relating to the chips and 'the nightmare(s) is(are) over now' (it's been a really long time I can't remember the line exactly) and it's ingrained this idea that the clones actually suffer from nightmares as a side effect of the chips.
So picture this: Cody accidentally mentions the nightmares around Obi-wan, and because I need for him to for the ... "plot" to happen, Obi suggests a Force Thing that he learned in Jedi Therapy when he was a padawan (that he may or may not remember entirely correctly, which ever way is more helpful for the ... "plot")
and it's basically just dream sharing that allows Cody to lucid dream and over write his nightmares.
which incidentally over writes the chips.
which incidentally have a bluetooth connection and a program hierarchy and ongoing updates between them so Cody's "updated" order list (a series of dreams in which he has a good time actually) take precedent over the subordination chips and slowly the over written commands spread through the GAR like a silent viral infection.
Which would be fine for everyone involved except for one thing.
Order 66.
Because Order 66 in Cody's nightmares starts with Obi-wan lying dead in a puddle of his own blood. And he couldn't quite push past the horror and fear the image instilled in him, so Obi-wan was a little more hands on with that dream, and oh, it's not Obi lying dead in a puddle of blood, it's Obi sprawled in red silk telling Cody everything is going to be alright.
And then feelings... got a little heated and unlike many of the other dreams Obi-wan and Cody end up calling each other's names a lot.
(It is important to note, that in this scenario even though Obi-wan did step in, the mood and direction of the dream were still under Cody's control.)
Which is good because when order 66 is called by Palpatine, the entire GAR isn't focused on kriffing the nearest Jedi, ("Kriff the Jedi, all of them!") they're focused on making sure Cody kriffs Obi-wan (in red silk sheets) specifically.
And for that someone has to sit on Anakin for a few hours.
And kill Palpatine.
And make sure the war is mopped up.
(and red silk sheets are located)

When you're posting a work on AO3, one of the options you have is to add relationship tags to your work. Sometimes you'll see tags that look almost exactly the same and you might wonder what the difference is.
A/B indicates that person A and person B have a romantic or sexual relationship in this fic.
A&B indicates that person A and person B have a non-romantic and non-sexual relationship in this fic - they are friends, colleagues, family members etc. who have a platonic relationship.
If you want to add more specific information about what kind of relationship the characters have in your story, you can use the additional tags or the summary to let readers know more about what they're in for.
Editing to add: Oh yes! And it doesn't matter which character you list first in your tag. They both filter the same way in the site's database.
