My high school English teacher kept me in class until 4 in the freaking morning. So I got mad at her and walked out. Snoop Dogg walked me home and hung out in my bedroom with me to see my dragon drawings.

Hot take: Schools need to start failing students again. In recent years schools and teachers have been discouraged or even punished for failing students. Students who are technically failing are simply being passed from grade to grade without ever being given time to catch up.
When I taught 6th grade earlier this year, many, MANY of my students were several grades behind. It's actually easier to name the ones that WERE on grade level. All of them were being advanced into 7th grade, even though many of them were barely in 4th grade in terms of academic progress. And this wasn't just the school where I taught, it's all over the place.
So many students are so far behind that teachers simply cannot catch everyone up. There aren't enough teachers or hours in the school day to both catch up students to past grades and keep them on track of their current grade. They need to fail. Failing is the only thing that can catch them up.
There are students graduating high school right now who are still in middle school academically.
Failing students is harsh, but necessary. It gives them time to catch up academically which students desperately need right now.
How are these students expected to thrive in college, where failing is an option? Where there's nothing to stop them from failing?

gentle reminder don't focus on how your body looks, instead think about how healthy you are, how strong your body is and what it can do.

Mistakes I made in my junior year that i don't want anyone else to repeat.
Signed up for more extra curriculars than I could handle
Not giving myself enough breaks
Sleeping late
Had increased screentime
Didn't give midterms it's dues importance
Lost my notes a couple of times so I had to rewrite them and thus, wasted time.
Thought too much about what people think
Had increased anxiety levels because i wasn't doing anything productive
Didn't study from the start
Got overconfident in the subject which was easy and ended up getting the lowest in it.
Gave too many f**ks about unimportant matters
Didn't give too many f**ks about important matters
Didn't manage my time
Got alittle too ambitious and ended up backfiring
Implemented every single piece of advice i got from teachers (didn't turn out well)
Unhealthy diet and reduced my meals
Didn't exercise.
(For both my reference and yours. I have definitely thought about how I can improve in my last and final year of highschool based on this and thought that this might help someone else too.)

Do you have any tips to focus for a longer period of time?
i'm definitely not the best person to ask for advice on how to lock in and focus on studying (i'm a serial procrastinator), but i have some tips to share too.
always make sure you have met your needs: slept enough, eaten enough and are hydrated. concentrating when you are not in good shape is almost impossible.
change the scenario: in desperate moments i go to the library because i get distracted much less there than in my room. if you don't have the opportunity to go somewhere else, try to remove all possible distractions. remove everything you don't need from your desk, throw away your phone, disable notifications, silence/delete all non-study-related apps.
approach the subject as a global conversation, rather than by individual topics. make connections, associations, draw maps that help you visualize what you are doing. making studying interactive and dynamic keeps attention span higher.
find a method that allows you to absorb the greatest amount of information in the shortest time possible. for me, for example, it's listening: from podcasts to videos on yt, listening and repeating are the ways i learn fastest.
don't stress. if you see that it's not your day, forget it, you'll only end up frustrated and in burnout. as an alternative, try doing some sport, a walk, something that moves your body, absolutely NOT social media. you will end up even more guilty and tired than before.
hope this was helpful 💓
