hi!! i just found ur blog and i rlly like ur writing! i don’t know if u do platonic requests so feel free to ignore this but could u do karl jacobs with a younger sister (maybe like 14-16 yrs old ish)? like i had this thought the other day that he seems like he has such a good relationship with his siblings and i feel like he would be a good older brother. also i feel like he would be lowkey protective and like be one of those brothers that’s like “ima beat up ur bf” but he wouldn’t do anything lol just try to be intimidating (sorry this is long and kinda specific no worries if u don’t wanna do this)
joe mama
warnings: mild language, younger sibling superiority, 100gecks slander,
tags: platonic!karl jacobs x fem!younger sister!reader
A/N: i actually love this idea and i think the headcanon format would work really well with this so here! also i have no basis for any of the things i made up about the reader and karl i fibbed on approximately everything. it was really fun writing this :] very wholesome of me. also! to make this more of a true “x reader” format i didn’t include any looks or genetic references or how you’re related to him (adopted, biological, etc)
-
i think karl is someone to make fun of you to your face but brag about you to his friends behind your back
“you look like a sewer rat who got a perm” when you get out of the shower but he’s all “yeah she cares so much about her appearance even though she looks good 100% of the time” to anyone else
your mom used to make him drive you to your friends’ houses and he’d play 100gecks so loud you couldn’t even talk. he did it on purpose tbh
your age gap is a little troublesome when it comes to being able to see him, as he lives fairly far away and has a job and all his friends there but you have little to no means to go visit him
on your christmas break he does actually buy your family all plane tickets and insists you come to his house and cook for him
he thinks you’re a spoiled brat, you think he’s an arrogant jackass
in all honestly your relationship is 80% love and 20% hate
his absolute Worst pet peeve when you lived together was you coming into his room when he was quote unquote “Seriously Gaming” and insist he help you with your school project or help you reach something on the top shelf of the kitchen cupboard
your worst pet peeve was the absolute Volume at which he chews
he chews like a cow.
the first crush you ever had was a blonde boy named connor who played basketball and had a coconut haircut
you went to a middle school dance with him during your 8th grade year and karl convinced your teachers (who had known him to be a prankster with semi-good grades in their classes) to let him be a chaperone
every slow dance he’d grab the microphone and very pointedly say “Leave Room For Jesus.” until connor would shuffle back an inch
in all seriousness , karl finds it extremely frustrating to see you unhappy, so he does anything in his power to make you feel better. whether it’s a horribly edited minecraft music video or having a heartfelt conversation (during which he kinda maybe sorta tries not to cry) you always hang up the phone with a smile on your face
he used to film these cute home videos during his middle school - high school years and you’d play his magician assistant, side kick, or partner in crime
they’re a treasure, and anytime he badmouths you you threaten to post them on youtube.
he shuts up pretty quick
he’s definitely the type to save all his notes from high school for you to use later
the hand-me-downs from him are absolutely Killer
the amount of grandpa sweaters he amasses is uncanny!
but you look so cute in them so he doesn’t care
mini karl :)

Witch-Related Books to Grab off Amazon: Masterpost Part 1
First off, I'll be sectioning this into different parts based off of what type of witch you are/want to be/want more info on, or what practices you wanna add to your craft :)
Green Witch/Magick Herbalism (a classic):
The Green Witch by Arin Murphy-Hiscock - $9.69 (Hardcover): This book had incredible reviews on amazon, and a lot of the written reviews said that the book wasn't specific to a religion and didn't try to push a religion on you, which is so wonderful because not everyone wants to be religious with their craft.
Plant Witchery by Juliet Diaz - $25.19 (Hardcover) $18.99 (Paperback): Again, stunning reviews, just a less popular book. This book isn't about general stuff, but instead it's more focused on mother nature and the useage of plants (non-herbal as well, so your houseplants might be mentioned too), which is great if you wanna center your practice around Gaia and the healing energies of the earth.
Herb Magick: An Introduction to Magickal Herbalism and Spells by Patti Wigington - $14.99 (Paperback): here's a review from a verified person- it explained this book WAY better than I ever could:
The focus of this book is on the folkloric and magical uses of herbs, rather than medicinal applications. It provides a few traditional uses of herbs, but the overall theme is knowledge of the plants and their associations, and incorporating them in your spiritual workings. This is an Introductory to Magical Herbalism.
The author's spiritual practice is rooted in traditional American and European Folk Magic. She is a licensed Pagan Clergy and is the founder of Clan Of The Stone Circle, a Celtic Pagan Tradition. (Funny, anything Celtic has been pulling my attention feelers lately, no wonder why I loved this book.) Her spells are derived/based upon the traditional folk magic practices of Western Europe and the British Isles, and the author's own experiences. They are positive spells for magical intentions of healing, love, prosperity, and protection. Baneful or negative workings with herbs are NOT used in this book.
The aesthetic of this book has my little, beginner herbalist heart gushing! The blue, green, and yellow earthy tones and hues used were perfect for the topic of herbs! The cover is GORGEOUS! It's so pretty and flowery, the illustrated pictures of the herbs were extremely helpful because I had never seen some of the plants before. This will make future identification much easier for me!
Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs by Scott Cunningham - $16.43 (Paperback): A couple reviews describe it as being in a cookbook format, and overall an amazing book, like most of Scott Cunningham's other works. Apparently the Amazon shipping was literal trash for a bunch of people and they essentially left the book loose inside the box to bang around and get all sorts of messed up :((
The Witch's Herbal Apothecary by Marysia Miernowska - $18.69 (Paperback): Described by reviewers as the PERFECT book for recipes and rituals, even one of Marysia's personal students spoke very highly of her, saying that she's the real deal. Other reviews state the book as being very beginner friendly, and beautifully written and illustrated :))
Blackthorn's Botanical Magic: The Green Witch's Guide to Essential Oils for Spellcraft, Ritual, and Healing by Amy Blackthorn - $15.79 (Paperback): again, phenomenal reviews, just a lesser-known book. Again, here's a review from someone who explained the book a bit better than I could:
This book is way more than I thought it would be. I thought it would be like a dictionary - you look up the essential oil and get the definition. It is that but it's also got a few introductory chapters about oils and products and rituals to give you a nice and concise overview of a lot of things you might need to know as a novice. I also like the way you can reference different oils in alpha order but also look up your purpose and find the oil you need.
From the looks of it, this book is specifically about Essential Oils. Is that still Green Witchery?? Lol I'm not sure, but i felt like it should go in this category.
Kitchen Witch (another classic):
Blackthorn's Botanical Brews by Amy Blackthorn - $14.49 (Hardcover): this is mainly a book of recipes for drinks and cocktails and stuff. There was one review complaining about how it didn't have correspondences, meanwhile the book is literally described as being a recipe book? It's an AMAZING book if you enjoy/want to start making homemade elixirs and cocktails :))
The Natural Witch's Cookbook: 100 Magickal, Healing Recipes, and Herbal Remedies to Nourish Body, Mind, and Spirit by Lisanna Wallace - $20.69 (hardcover): This is again just a book of recipes, and the reviews are really good. Here's one of them:
I wanted to write the review as soon as I got the book. I was not expecting this book to be so fantastic. The recipes are very nutritious and the names are very inventive, but I could see that before I tried the recipes. I held off on writing the review until I tasted a few of the recipes. Even my kids were very happy with the flavors of these recipes. They are mostly easy to make and they are very delicious. Be aware though that the food can only be as great as the quality of the ingredients that you get. These are not recipes that call for complicated or fancy ingredients, or even a lot of ingredients. As a result, you have to use the best that you can find/afford to get the best results you can. I did not use expensive ingredients, but everything I used was very fresh and it does make a difference on the outcome. Overall, the book have some great recipes, easy to follow and the end result does look like the ones on the picture.
The Book of Kitchen Witchery by Cerridwen Greenleaf - $12.89 (Paperback):
I am so pleased with this book. It’s so magical and warm. Sometimes the new age genre can be a little too technical or focus too much on religion or putting down particular religions... this was not like that. There are so many lovely tips and easy spells and recipes that are kept fairly light so you can make them your own. The book just makes me happy, it has an energy to it that goes right along with it’s artsy illustrations and at-a-glance format. This will be a great reference. Very grateful to everyone who made this book possible.
A former editor said that there were a few editing mistakes, but nothing too crazy. If that's one of your pet peeves, just beware when buying this book lol (btw the editor still have a 4 star review because they said the book is still very good)
Potions, Elixirs & Brews by Anaïs Alexandre - $12.79 (Hardcover): I just had to include both of these amazing reviews, since both said what the other review did not.
This book is so gorgeous and everything I have been looking for in regards to potions. I love her writing style and the way the book looks. Highly informative and I can feel her good intentions behind the book. She is very intelligent. I respect her and I am inspired by her! I found her by chance looking up books for potions, she also has Instagram! Very grateful, amazing book thank you:-) so happy to be the first comment:p excited to see what else amazing things come from Anais!
And
I adore this book. The art and setup is simplistic and beautiful. There is a system that tells you exactly how difficult each potion will be to make, whether or not it’s alcoholic, and what is the ideal season to make it in. The instructions are clear, the preliminary information is well done, and there’s even a section for brewing large batches which I LOVE. The weight of the book is nice and it feels of good quality. The papers are glossy and, I haven’t yet, but I feel like it won’t be a disaster If you get some of your creation on it. The book is separated into types of potions depending on your intent. This is a perfect book for anyone new to making potions or is interested in a magickal recipe book!
The Witches Feast: A Kitchen Grimoire by Melissa Madara - $35 (Hardcover): This book actually isn't out yet, but it'll be released on October 26th of this year (2021). It looks promising, which is why I put it on the list, and for that much money, it better be good lol
Lunar/Moon/Astrology Witch:
The Complete Guide to Astrology by Louise Edington - $9.49 (Paperback) $22.99 (Hardcover): There's amazing reviews on this book, and one of them said that she's been researching astrology for 23 years!! Here's the review in it's entirety:
I've been a student of Astrology for the past 23 years now, and have read most of the books on this subject that are considered foundational. Many guides to astrology that I page through in a bookstore are fine, but covering information I already know. What I so appreciated about Edington's new book is that she brings a new angle to even the basics of Astrology. Her book feels like a fresh update, more appropriate to our current time in terms of language and sensibility. There are no "evil" aspects or transits in Edington's view, no dark warnings of disaster; her evolutionary perspective encourages us to see the opportunity in even the most challenging times, what can be learned, what can be accomplished. As she says in her book, she doesn't look at the natal chart as something fixed, unchanging, rather a "blueprint rich in meaning and possibility."
I also admired Edington's extensive knowledge of the stories behind the names and symbology used in Astrology: sharing her interpretations of them, how they are useful, how they can be limiting. Concepts I thought I already understood have been unpacked in greater depth by the author, so that I see deeper layers.
This text is beautifully written, well-organized, offering a fresh update, as well as a deeper dive than many astrology texts. This book is an invaluable resource I'll be returning to, and consulting, with appreciation.
Moon Spells: How to Use the Phases of the Moon to Get What You Want by Diane Ahlquist - $11.35 (Paperback): This book is a bit older fashioned in the sense that it's VERY heteronormative, we're talking about love magick SPECIFICALLY for men and all about being a father, and a section of love magick SPECIFICALLY for women and being a mother. So if this gets on your nerves, then i wouldn't recommend this book. Other than that, the reviews are very good and they describe the book as being a must-have for lunar witches.
The Complete Book of Moon Spells by Michael Herkes - $13.49 (Paperback): Yes, this book was written by a man. If that's something that might make you not want to purchase, please look at this and also keep in mind that SO MANY of the most highly esteemed witches of the world ARE MEN. So if you wanna be closed off and refuse their help and their knowledge, go ahead sis, I'm not stopping you.
Tumblr media
He's most definitely not just "some guy". Aside from that, this book has very good reviews. Some people called it "fluffy" and a bit less serious then they anticipated, but it's very good for beginner witches who are finally wanting to start doing spells. Here's a review.
In this book you explore ways to conjure the mysterious power of the moon to manifest your intentions to achieve abundance and balance in your life! Each chapter is devoted to one of the eight phases of the moon and includes various spells, tarot spreads, crystal grids and potions that reflect that phase of the moon!
This is an overall amazing book if you want to build a foundation of learning about the history of the moon, astrology, cycles & phases, ritual tools, crystals, herbs, and essential oils- as well as the moon spells and rituals.
This is one of my new favorite books! I feel so connected to the moon and this book is a great reference for learning the best rituals and spells to use for the different moon phases and energies surrounding them! It’s easy to follow and the lunar rituals, mystical spells and magical drinks are so vibrant, creative and helpful in my spiritual journey. I’d recommend this book to anyone that loves the moon like I do.
Moon Magic: A Handbooks of Lunar Cycles, Lore, and Mystical Energies by Aurora Kane - $19.99 (Hardcover, although there's only three left when I'm looking at it) $9.99 (Kindle):
One review said that the book much surpassed their expectations, and another review said this:
I absolutely adore this book.
If you're just a beginner and want to understand the different moon phases, this is the book to get.
The information inside was extremely helpful without being overly complicated.
Well worth the money spent.
Astrology: Using the Wisdom of the Stars in Your Everyday Life by DK - $14.59 (Hardcover):
I saw this in store and was immediately drawn to it's beautiful and shiny cover! But when I open it, the inside is just as beautiful! I love looking through the pages. I would say it is a very good basic astrology book, but I have another one that gives much more detail. I like this one for more of a quick reference kind of book. It's more of a bullet point style book, where it gives little tidbits instead of paragraphs going in depth. (Though some pages do have paragraphs) BUT, it covers just about everything including all the houses, moon signs, and ascending signs. It covers everything, but it just covers he tip of the iceberg. (In my opinion) I still absolutely recommend it!
Apparently this book is also available in Barnes and Noble, so if you have access to one, you might wanna look there for the book before purchasing off of Amazon :)
Misc Books (General):
The Spell Book for New Witches: Essential Spells to Change Your Life by Ambrosia Hawthorn - $10.19 (Paperback) $20.69 (Hardcover):
This book... It's a very good spell book, and is true in the spells it contains, but MY biggest problem with it is that it's V E R Y Wiccan, and seems almost preachy about the "Threefold Law" and what they like to call "karma". Choosing not to do dark magick is PERFECTLY FINE and being Wiccan is totally okay! But don't be like Christianity and rub it in people's faces, dude. The book talks about how you can ONLY practice "love and light". Other than that, this book is AMAZING and rated literally 5 stars with over 11K reviews. If you lean more Wiccan, by ALL means, buy this spellbook. It's the one for you.
Practical Magic for Beginners by Maggie Haseman - $13.49 (Paperback)
This book is fantastic for the witch who wants to learn more about her craft but doesn't know where to start. Each subject is broken down into easy to absorb bits of wisdom without being overwhelming. A great jumping off place to decide where to dive in deep next.
This book is very comprehensive, and is a great reference guide for beginner witches, or witches looking to add another book to their collection.
Candle Magic For Beginners by Mystic Dylan - $10.86 (Paperback) $21.99 (Spiral bound)
This book is a must have for anyone looking to deepen their connection with the magical element of fire, ritual, and spell work through candle magic! Dylan not only teaches you how to use candle magic for things such as protection, abundance, love, healing, and more, but takes you through the fascinating history of the power of fire & how to properly charge, cleanse, and consecrate your candles to begin manifesting your deepest desires!!! Overall, the book is beautifully written with gorgeous illustration and will hook you from the start!!!!!!!
This book is perfect for beginners to candle magick, or beginners to the craft in general. I personally LOVE candle magic because I've always been attracted to fire. I could void out and just stare at a flame for hours on end lol
Crystals for Beginners by Karen Frazier - $8.99 (Paperback) $20.95 (Spiral bound)
Absolutely love this book!! It’s so informative! I am a beginner and this book explains a lot. Everything a beginner would need to know about crystals is in this book. I am so pleased with it. Best purchase of the week! Definitely worth it. The author explains crystals, chakras and energy so enthusiastically and in a way that is easy to understand. At the end of the book, is a “resources” page with all the websites, books and apps that the Author recommends.
Again, very beginner friendly, but this time it's not spells, it's crystals and such. I've personally been wanting this book for AGES
The Crystal Bible Series by Judy Hall - $38.99 (Volume 1-3 shrink-wrapped set, paperback):
This is my first purchase of the three-part series by Judy Hall. Volume 1 covers over 200 crystals! I can already tell you I'll be purchasing volumes 2 and 3 (each of which cover 200+ MORE crystals/stones, not included in volume 1) I love how each crystal description includes photos to further help in identification. I also appreciate that rarity and sources were included. Information about the spiritual and physical impacts of crystals on the body is in there as well! This book is loaded with a lot of great information and is the perfect quick reference. It's also small and fits easily in my hand. I highly recommend it for beginners.
This is a review from just the first book, and it's from a verified hauler/buyer :)) these aren't exactly newbie friendly, and some people say they're a bit harder to understand.

i actually didn’t think i’d like SL but it also makes sense i did cuz my other favs are LWJ and WN but i fell in love w those two w the novel and manhwa ,, SL i fell for later after watching both CQL & the donghua i think cuz i got more time to wrap my head around the plot / timeline by then so i could focus on characters n such ??? if that makes any sense sorry
also like off topic how do you imagine SL being towards XY in a modern au ?? like i read some fics and it’s just genuine distaste to him because of love triangle stuff / possessive nature for those two but i just always feel like for there to be a mirror of how he feels towards XY in canon XY has to do something yk ?? like i just don’t take SL as someone to hate someone outright like who is he to judge but their actions unto others yk ??
idk i read a ( modern au ) fic where like i the end sxx does get tighter despite everything cuz XY did a LOT of shit and really bad shit to SL specifically but i think it only worked because they make the fact that their whole dynamic ( SL x XY specially ) was extremely rocky a lot of pushing boundaries & therapy for all of them cuz like fuck they need it but even in the ending of the fic they aren’t in paradise together it’s more of the water has finally stilled and the boat isn’t shaking to where everyone might die yk ???
i might be off base here though sorry maybe just ignore this whole thing i just have a lot of thoughts about SL sorry for spam if i did
The thing I like about modern AUs is it’s easier to “soften” characters that are hard to make happy endings for. Unless you’re going for a “dead dove serial killer” vibe, XY can’t really be the blood-happy killer he is in modern AUs and expect to have any kind of happy resolution, not for the characters AND the readers benefit. XY can still be a pain in the butt handful, but he past can be repainted as the writer sees fit. (I personally like to make him a troubled former foster kid who has the system fail him as it is unfortunately wont to do, who had a seedy past but is trying to rebuild himself.)
And... as far as sxx dynamics go, that IS one of my pet peeves with it. You can very often tell when the writer really just wants to write xuexiao smut but can’t think of a reason to have SL not be present that doesn’t make either xxc or xy come off as jerks. So sl gets turned into a sort of pretty ornament to decorate the background so we know he’s there, but rarely gets to participate in the actual relationship. And like- if you wanna just write xuexiao stuff, you can! I’d do that instead of getting people’s hopes up wrt sxx. I read a fic a while ago where xy was put into an existing songxiao dynamic after xxc hooked up with him and it read as xxc cheating on sl and that break of trust was never followed up or dealt with in any way. It CAN be done, but it’s hard to establish correctly, if that’s the route you wanna go. There’s an ongoing fic I’m absolutely in LOVE with rn that handles it pretty well! Here written by @veilchenjaeger who has imo some of the BEST characterizations!
As for modern songxue interactions, I see song lan as the kind of guy who just needs someone to take care of, whether it’s xxc or a-qing or even Xue Yang. (For the latter, he’d do so begrudgingly, but he’d do it.) sure, modern xy never does the dishes and takes all the hot water in the morning and eats his leftovers, but xy’s life would be a mess without sl swooping in to keep things in check. And SL’s stern but patient nature leaves xy with room to get better, which I often like to see in modern AUs. There’s another series that handles it well that I love here by rynleaf that has my ideal songxue dynamic that follows up the “song lan has a violent streak he isn’t proud of but also needs to take care of people” characterization I feel he inherently has.
I hope you enjoy them. :)

do you have any writing tips pls 🥺🥺
Ohhh big question! I’m flattered that you want my writing thoughts, anon!
So. Are we talking about tips on getting through writer’s block/sitting down and actually writing? The mechanics of writing itself, the individual sentences and word choices? Developing a plot? Characters or dialogue? Drafting and revising? If there’s a specific part of the process that’s angsting you, let me know, I’m happy to say more on that. For now I’ll try and touch on as much as broadly as I can.
Writing is a process, a craft, a practice. A joy and a trial. The act of hitting some keys with your fingers but also making something out of nothing. Which is to say—it comes with practice, it can be frustrating, it can be rewarding, and however you’re feeling about writing, you’re not the only one.
Inspiration/actually sitting down to write:
I find that writing is like exercise. Yes, in the sense that it takes practice to build up those muscles, but MORE IMPORTANTLY writing, like exercise, makes me groan and go “but that’s haaaaard I don’t wanna doooooo it, what if I just siiiit here insteaaaad.” And then I grudgingly get started. And I start to get into the rhythm. And then “oh goddammit. This DOES feel good.” I’ve still never experienced a runner’s high, but I have experienced “no I don’t wanna write. well I guess I’ll write. oh hey I’m writing. oH HEY!! I’M WRITING!!!” Sometimes you just need to push yourself through to start.
That said, sometimes you don’t need to push yourself to start. Sometimes it’s better to let something sit. It’s okay to pivot to another project if you’ve stalled out on one. I saw a post once that called this “crop rotation” and I think that’s true. Sometimes the challenge is getting started, but even when you can’t get started, the time away can be valuable, because it allows you to return with fresh ideas and fresh ideas.
I love using Fighter’s Block for when I can’t get started. It curbs my perfectionist tendency to write the same first sentence over and over again by forcing me to write consistently and quickly without refreshing tumblr between every sentence. Once I’ve got a paragraph, I’ve got enough of a rhythm going to keep writing on my own. You can use it for longer stretches of time, but I find a couple rounds of 200 word count goals is enough to get me through the inertia of getting started.
Read a lot:
Reading makes you a better writer. You will absorb aspects of the craft in the process—sentence structure, rhythm, plot beats.
Then think about what you read. Think about what works. Think about what doesn’t. Notice sentences that you love—not by meaning but by sound. Think about how the story is told, how the plot elements come together, how the themes operate, how the narrative is structured. Did the flashbacks works or were they superfluous? Did you love the metaphors and descriptive language, or did it feel vague and unhelpful? What parts grabbed you, what parts didn’t?
Being able to identify what does and doesn’t work in someone else’s writing will help you apply it to your own. It will also help you craft your own voice and style.
Use writing tips as a challenge, not a rule:
We’ve all seen those “writing rules” like don’t use adverbs, don’t say feels or thinks, don’t say said. Never listen to writing “rules”; instead, see them as a writing “challenge.” You don’t need to jettison every single adverb or permanently strike certain words from your writing. Sometimes, an adverb is the best word. And sometimes it isn’t.
These tips are useful, but not as hard-and-fast rules that must be obeyed every time under every circumstance. Instead, use them as tools to challenge you to think about your writing in new ways, to see if there’s a better way to say something (and maybe there is and maybe there isn’t), and to bring a freshness to the process.
I actually do really like to challenge myself to minimize feels and thinks. “He feels sick to his stomach” will pretty much always be less powerful than “His stomach lurches.” But sometimes feels and thinks work better, either because I need quick exposition or because it specifically emphasizes a thought or a feeling as perception. Again, it’s not about rules. It’s about challenging your habits to breathe new life into your writing.
Revising tools:
if you’re a tactile person and you own a printer (which I am but I don’t), I like to print out a draft and sit on the floor with a pen and a highlighter and highlight anything that sounds clunky or that doesn’t quite fit. Then I massage those specific sentences, looking for other ways to say them, and narrow in on those parts rather than trying to edit everything overall.
The hemingway app method (as long as you know you’re allowed to disagree with it) can be good to catch certain things. Sometimes I use it and think “yeah that sentences IS too long and awkward, I should rephrase it” and sometimes I think “nah, that sentence is long but it’s controlled and it works.” Sometimes it’s useful in pointing out that I used the word just way too many times; sometimes I’ll keep my adverbs thanks.
Retyping the entire thing in another word document is another revising trick. So is reading the entire think out loud to yourself (your actual ear will catch awkward rhythms or typos that your inner voice glossed over).
(Note: I don’t do all of these all the time. I revise with whichever method I happen to be feeling at the moment)
Character interactions:
Overly expository character interactions are probably my #1 writing pet peeve. People don’t say what they mean. They don’t calmly and carefully and eloquently articulate exactly what they feel. If your characters are conversing in well-practiced monologues where they’re able to objectively analyze and express their exact feelings, it’s not believable. It’s also not fun for the reader, because Explanations of Emotions are being used as a stand-in for actual emotions.
Example: You don’t have a breakdown because you’re stressed about losing your job and you had a fight with your sister and you’re also the protagonist who has to save the entire world. You have a breakdown because you can’t find your fucking pen. It was here a moment ago, you know it was, you put it THERE because that’s where you PUT things but now it’s gone and the pen is gone and you can’t even find the fucking pen so how are you going to save the world and everything is going to SHIT because you can’t FIND your goddamn pEN.
Your character is probably not even an expert on their own feelings, let alone able to objectively explain them to someone else. There are things we can’t make ourselves say out loud. We deflect. We put all the big feelings into small things. We squeeze someone’s hand and say come on, let’s make dinner because you can’t say everything is going to be okay I promise you and I love you so much and one day you’ll see that it’ll all work out.
What are your characters saying with their body? What are they saying with what’s left unsaid? And when are they saying something Else that’s really about Them? (“You did what you had to do,” character A assures character B, because character A’s own guilt weighs on them. They’ll never say this out loud. They don’t even need to specifically think “just like my own guilt, which weighs on me.” We know it by what they say, about other people and about other things, because these are the times when you’re really talking about yourself)
Also, the size of the emotion displayed does not translate into the size of the emotional impact on the reader. A big sweeping declaration of I love you shouldn’t be used as a stand-in for real chemistry or a moment of love that is specific to those characters. An absolute sobbing breakdown isn’t inherently more tragic for its size. You don’t need torture porn to evoke angst. Emotions are a lot more subtle than that. Using a caricature of emotion in the extreme often cheapens the emotion for the reader, rather than enhancing it.
Other assorted tips:
Write notes! Sit up at 3 AM and write down a snippet of dialogue in a note on your phone! Jot down the plot idea for later! Note the phrase you heard someone say that sounds like it would be a good title.
If you can’t figure out how to end your story or your section or your chapter, it might be because it’s already over and the story has finished telling itself. If the beginning doesn’t feel right, if it feels slow and clunky, it might be because your starting place is too early. If the character interaction feels wrong or the scene isn’t going right or you can’t make that line of dialogue work, the problem is probably about 5 or 10 lines up where you took a wrong turn.
An em dash—like the one I used here—separates out a part of the sentence that couldn’t be a sentence on its own. Semicolons join two independent sentences together; this is an example.
The dialogue tag is part of the sentence. Correct: “I love dogs,” he said. or “I love dogs.” Incorrect: “I love dogs.” he said. or “I love dogs,” He said.
That’s everything that comes to mind immediately. If there’s another part of the process that you want me to focus on, let me know! I’m happy to go more in-depth on specifics!

It’s a stupid pet peeve, but y’know what fanfic trope I can’t fucking stand? Arranged marriage AU’s. Not because of the concept of arranged marriages, but because the people who write those fics have no idea how arranged marriages work. Note that I’m talking specifically about royalty AU’s here, couldn’t care less about other settings. Like, I get the appeal of it, royalty is cool, arranged marriages are a convenient way to get your OTP together while ensuring there’s conflict, but oh my god I’m begging you people to research how arranged marriages actually worked because I have yet to see a fic of it that isn’t an inaccurate clusterfuck. And that’s annoying because it could be so much more interesting, but no you’d rather rehash every creepy romance novel cliche ever.
Like. For a start. For some reason, the most common setup of arranged marriage AU’s is ‘X country is bitter enemies with Y country, and to end the horrible war Prince X must marry Prince Y’. Why does that keep getting used? I mean yeah you want to do the whole enemies to lovers thing and aren’t creative enough to come up with a real reason for your ship to dislike each other at first, but that’s not how arranged marriages work. Securing peace treaties is literally the only situation where arranged marriages would make the political situation worse. Bear with me here. Let’s say you’re the leader of a country, and you’re at war with another country. It’s pretty much a draw; even if you win, your army will be severely weakened. You’re ready to call it a day, and the opposing leader is as well. You sit down to negotiate a peace treaty, both of you knowing damn well that you still hate each other, and once you’ve regrouped, you’ll probably just go to war again. And then the other leader suggests marrying one of their children to your heir. No fucking way would you agree to that; they’re obviously going to be an informant for their parent, or assassinate your heir, or usurp your throne. Or vice versa; they want one of your children to marry their heir. That’s a thinly veiled hostage situation! You’d have to be crazy to agree to that! Arranged marriages never happen when hostilities end in a draw. They’re only used to end extremely decisive wars. And even then, actual straight up marriage is a very unconventional method, and also a stupid choice. Indefinitely hosting a rival monarch’s child isn’t a peace gesture, it’s a hostage situation. Prince X is in Country Y so that King X has to do exactly what King Y says, and marriage is a very unneeded step. You’re not fooling anyone, literally every person with an ounce of sense can tell that Prince X is your hostage, just call him your ward or something. Marrying Prince X to Prince Y is a bad idea, because that gives Prince X political power in your court, which is the last thing you want a hostage to have. So stop using enemy countries as a premise for your arranged marriage AU, everyone involved has to be dumber than a sack of rocks for it to work, and that kills the tension real quick.
Now that we’ve crushed that whole fantasy, there’s the overall concept of arranged marriages between royals, because seriously I feel like all of you are horribly misunderstanding the concept of monarchies. Royalty does not mean filthy rich person living in a castle with really nice clothes. Royalty means un-elected politician. Unless you want to abdicate and take your chances, being born into the royal family of an active monarchy means that you’re going to be in politics your whole life. And obviously everyone’s heard of royals fucking around and doing nothing with their lives, but that leads to countries literally falling apart very quickly. If the country is stable, the royal family’s working their collective asses off.
So let’s say Country A and Country B are forming a serious alliance, and sealing the deal by sending Prince A off to marry Prince B. Prince A has spent his entire life learning about politics, and his duty to his country. He’s probably seen his older siblings married off to other countries, or has in-laws that were royals from another country. The alliance has been in the works for quite some time, and he’s heard a fair amount about it, or even been directly involved in it. None of this is a surprise; there’s been months of negotiations leading up to it. And now that it’s confirmed, he’s not going anywhere for quite some time. After all, there’s still a lot of details to be hashed out, and Prince A needs to know everything about the language, history, politics, and etiquette of Country B before he gets there, or the best case scenario is him being publicly humiliated; worst case scenario is an international incident, and the marriage being called off. He might not be happy about the arranged marriage, and he’s definitely nervous, but he’s not being dragged kicking and screaming. Prince A and Prince B are virtual strangers, but they’re going to be ruling a country together someday. You want to at least be friends with your co-ruler. Love isn’t even necessary; they’ll need an heir to secure the throne, but other than that, who cares? There’s a reason married royals usually lived in different parts of the castle. Purely platonic affection between a king and queen was about as common as actual romance; the marriage was always a political arrangement, and producing an heir is just business.
You gotta be careful when working with bourgeoisie protagonists, because if their highest priority isn’t helping their people, then they’re going to come across as unsympathetic assholes. Sure, you could just write them as having good intentions but being genuinely oblivious to how much their people struggle. But that description is a good summary of Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI’s reign, and I think we all remember how well that went.
Listen, I love romantic tension as much as the next guy. ...That’s a blatant lie, I’m actually a salty aromantic bitch, but the point is, I’m not trying to tell anyone what to do. If you wanna use a premise that falls apart if you think about it for a minute, then all power to you. If you want your royal characters to do nothing except look pretty and be generically important, then go for it. Write what you want to write. But if you’re aiming for worldbuilding that makes sense, and don’t want your royalty AU to be generic as hell, then seriously. Think about approaching things from a more realistic angle. If nothing else, the end result will definitely stand out from the other fics.
And yes I am aware that throwing out relationship drama in favour of political drama is a very aro thing to do, and I’m comfortable with being a stereotype. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

questions for neurodivergent folks ( from @shitborderlinesdo )
post here!
if ur autistic:
1. do you stim?
yes, sometimes! i’ve suppressed a lot of it over time but i still do some subtly.
if so, what are yr favourite stims?
touching/tapping the tips of my fingers together, stroking soft patches of skin(esp backs of my hands, wrists, or parts of my thighs, hips, ankles), cracking knuckles, stretching fingers/feet/arms/legs rly far, rapid blinking(though i also have a tic involving blinking which is similar, but involuntary), bubble wrap, flicking light switches/door lock mechanisms, bouncing on toes, toewalking, chewing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(esp pens/pen caps and similar textures), biting, mouthing/lipping things, clacking my teeth lightly, whistling, leg jiggle sometimes, jumping, skipping, hopping, and a few other rly specific things (like involving swimming, or being on something and hanging so im upside down and stuff)
2. happy stims? chewing, biting, skin stroking, finger tapping, skipping, hopping, jumping 3. negative stims? snapping fingers, “hiccuping” (it’s a little giggle/hiccup type thing i do, but idk what to call it), teeth clacking, leg jiggle, exposing too long to extreme cold temps, hitting head against things 4. favourite textures? idk how to explain the soft-smooth i like; silk usually looks like it should feel like this, but it doesn't. also when people talk about “plush velvet” the texture that comes to mind is good, like a really nice stuffed animal or a cavalier king charles spaniel with super soft fur, but real velvet feels bad lol. also just most fur in general, esp rabbit, cat, certain dogs. some wing or chest feathers on birds like doves. milk weed fluff. soft, squishy, fuzzy caterpillars(not the bristly guard hair ones. more like forest tent caterpillars), moon jellies, soft leather/suede, really smooth grey granite, polished shiny pink granite, lambs ear/mullein 5. least favourite textures? some types of linen are VERY BAD but idk what they are, they’re like stiff and scratchy and feel super cold? gummy bears, ew. really hard chocolate in cold ice cream, a lot of faux furs, like so many, most (sheep)wool, scallops, often times chinchilla fur feels bad, most velvet, esp crushed velvet, potato sacks, a lot of plastic bags/thin plastic film 6. what's a pet peeve of urs involving a specific sound? squeaky plastic is the worst, esp from plastic wrap. teeth grinding/bruxing is bad, hearing people having sex in another room/apt, heavy footsteps/stomping, esp when fast like running, door slamming, when people slam their hands on a table because they just thought of something, the sound quality of like...having water in your ears/popped ear drums, where everything feels muffled and almost whispery/far away, but also REALLY LOUD AND CLOSE... 7. a specific sound that makes you Really Happy? al snoring softly like a cat, my cat snoring, cats purring, crackling fires, wind whistling, waves lapping, thunder rumbling, THUNDER CRACKING, wood creaking in a strong wind, that soft snuffling of cat/dog noses, the sound of rodents digging in bedding or eating millet, angel caller bells(bola, fairy callers, whatever you call them) 8. when were you diagnosed (self or professionally)? about 6 years ago what has changed with the diagnosis? i dont hate myself for as much of my behaviours/thinking/speech patterns. im slowly trying to let myself let go of “survival mode” NT behaviours i was forced to learn 9. are there any behaviours you have that, prior to diagnosis, didnt make much sense, but now they do? too many to list lmao 10. what kind of representation would you like to see of autistic ppl in media? girls, trans folks, autistics of colour, just less cis white boy perfect example savants. autistics with “atypical” autistic symptoms. autistics with ugly meltdowns and other unpleasant symptoms. autistics who are messy eaters, who can’t dress themselves, who struggle with everyday tasks and self care. autistics with “useless” special interests that cant be reworked to make them more productive genius types. LOUD autistics.
if ur mentally ill:
11.when were you diagnosed (self or professional)?
6 yrs old or younger
12. what is your diagnosis/are your diagnoses?
BPD, (various types of)depression, DPD/social anxiety(when i’m alone)/agoraphobia, panic disorder NOS, mood disorder NOS, DID, ADD/ADHD-PI, ASD, gender dysphoria at one point, conduct disorder or whatever it was called. IED. all i can think of. all diagnosed professionally over the years, though ASD is not on any official records because i asked it to be left off to avoid that specific abuse/stigma.
13. is the community youve found with other mentally ill ppl helpful?
mostly no. but in some ways, yes. i appreciate having more access to info, hearing relatable stories, common symptoms/experiences that help me understand things better, etc. close friends with illnesses/disorders are nice, but mostly i know them for other reasons outside of diagnoses.
14. do you find it challenging to tell ppl yr mentally ill?
absolutely
15. what are the most effective coping mechanisms youve found?
im not sure. i just...cope? somehow? not always effectively, but idk.
16. have you ever been to therapy?
ya
if yes, what helped and what didnt help?
i hate group therapy. in individual therapy, i like having my husband sit in on the sessions for support. therapist NEEDS to prompt me and ask active and specific questions. setting clear goals with clear steps helps. a lot of more “creative” methods actually are super unhelpful for me.
17. do "find your happy place" exercises help you or no?
sort of? i don’t try them much. usually they make me sadder that im not there.
18. what are some of the most Tiresome Cliches ppl tell you to deal with yr mental illness (i.e., "just do yoga!")?
“everyone gets depressed”, “yoga”, “fresh air, sunlight, and exercise!”, “essential oils”, “meditation”, “_______ diet/supplement”, “mind over matter”, “lose some weight” (THIS DOES NOT MEAN NONE OF THESE CAN BE HELPFUL AND I DO WANT TO DO SOME OF THESE THINGS, BUT STATING THE OBVIOUS ABOUT THIS SHIT AND BEING CONDESCENDING IS SO FUCKING ANNOYING)
19. what books / movies have really helped u?
none in this regard
20. what kind of representation would u like to see of mentally ill ppl in media?
idk. better. sympathetic without condescentding, infantilising, or demonising. sympathetic recovery stories, showing a happy ending, but not some “theyre cured” BS
if ur chronically ill:
21. when were you diagnosed (self or professionally)?
asthma - like 4 yrs old, tendonitis - like 13 yrs old, unspecified pain/inflammation - 2019 professionally (like 2011 ish on my own, but really it started when i was ~13), nocturnal epilepsy - not done with diagnosis process/testing as of july 2019, a few chronic infections that don’t affect me any more were diagnosed when i was a kid, idk
22. do you find the support system with other similarly affected ppl to be helpful?
i’ve not been involved much, tried it out, really
23. what do you struggle w most on a daily basis?
pain/inflammation/stiffness in joints, back, neck, shoulders, feet
24. what helps you most?
i wanna say sleep, but it actually makes everything worse so, new diet(anti inflammation), making goals/plans, spirituality, going to healing places like the woods or by the sea or mountains, massage, soft comforting petting from my husband
25. what do you want to tell able-bodied and neurotypical ppl in regards to chronic illness?
it’s not the same. yeah maybe “everyone has back pain”, but my pain and your pain are different; they happen for different reasons and they affect us in different ways. if everyone is in pain we should do something to make life easier for everyone, not dismiss people who are suffering.
26. how do u keep your strength on a daily basis? i dont
27. if yr family supportive?
mostly yeah?
if not, who do you find the most strength and support in, outside of yourself?
my husband, regardless
28. what kind of representation would you like to see of chronically ill ppl in media?
show me people who find creative, easy, free/cheap ways to be comfortable/improve symptoms. do not fucking cure them to make them happy. let them be happy and comfortable by finding new ways to do things, no by erasing their obstacles.
if u have bpd:
29. when were u diagnosed (self or professionally)?
2014, i think? though it was suggested by a therapist in like 2008 or 2009
30. do you think the support system in the community is helpful?
no
31. what are some of the ways you keep yrself grounded and remind yrself to Take a Step Back when bad feelings get in the way of rational thinking?
remind myself other people have autonomy, think about how i would feel if someone reacted to things i was doing the way my brain wants to impulsively react to them, talk talk talk, find something else to do as distraction
32. coping skills?
idfk what they are, they’re just there. usually.
33. how do u keep yrself in check when impulsive mood swings come around?
uh, mostly i covered this in 31. gotta reset focus on something else, find distraction that produces different emotions until mood passes
34. what skills do you use to remind yourself that you are loved?
husband. doesnt always work, but mostly.
35. who has been the most supportive of u?
husband.
36. how has your diagnosis changed the way you view yrself and yr interactions w other ppl?
more mindful of others feelings and needs, esp my mum with BPD
37. what kind of representation would you like to see of ppl w bpd in media?
not fucking abusive/manipulative or miserable. let us struggle but have great supports and practice effective coping skills so we can build stronger relationship bonds and enjoy socializing and/or things that are personally important
all ppl:
38. how do you deal w ableism that comes at you from all directions?
laugh about it with my friends i guess?
39. who in your life is the most supportive of u and yr recovery?
husband
40. who are some people on tumblr who have really helped u in yr journey?
well, i met cieran here. alice has been a good influence. there’s a few of you for sure, though maybe not all specifically for these sorts of things.
41. best coping skills?
i dont know
42. most irritating Ableist Cliches ppl use to tell u yr not good enough?
infantilizing me(comparing me to a child), mocking my productivity/commercial success, “daddy issues”, trying to gaslight me into thinking i’ve been abusive because we disagree on something/i pointed out something they dont like
43. best most supportive thing anyone's said to you?
“i want to be like you when i grow up”
44. songs for Happy Times?
counting stars, gooey, just about anything by MIKA, most “meme” songs
45. songs for Not-Happy Times?
a lot of hozier, bastille, of monsters and men, rage against the machine, flobots
46. non-triggering movies that discuss mental illness?
im not sure, i know there are some i love that i could list, but none are coming to mind. not a movie but: moomin and most ghibli media, esp kiki’s delivery service.

do all of them since u wanna play it like that
listen here you little shit
🐶 for a role play related pet peeve.
edge for edges sake, or drama for dramas sake. there are ways to make your character interesting and compelling without throwing them into a new Trauma Pit every single day. relax.
☠️ for something that will result in a instant unfollow from you
a lot of the above, posting a lot about irl politics of any kind, or aggressively soapboxing your beliefs through your character. the first two are aggravating and stressful, the third is just... yall...
also i disagree with callout culture so if i see a lot of callout posts that are insubstantial and only have easily edited chat logs and screen caps, like. just stop. thats really lame. youre not a hero, just stop.
✋ for a prompt/plot/concept/ anything you refuse to role play
honestly im down for anything as long as we hash it out first. the only exception is like. extreme kink aus or something.
📝 for a rule you think is important when it comes to role playing
📢 actually separating ic from ooc. if my character is mad at yours, im not coming after you personally. can we maybe just respect our fellow writers...
💘 for your policy on shipping with your muse(s)
i ship chemistry! sometimes it happens overnight, sometimes it has to be built upon. just kinda depends on the character! for dorian specifically, it takes work, because he is... desperately... tragically... in love with ash... and itll take someone *really* special to distract him from that
💞 for your policy on pre-established relationships with your muse(s)
im totally for it. itd be hard to do with dorian since his setting is really specific but like? hey, who knows.
🔍 for something you look for on other’s blogs
a fucking name on their ooc page. sorry but i dont trust yall if i dont already know u
and a little style doesnt hurt. if i check your blog and see nothing but aesthetic posts for three pages, im... not gonna follow you back, like, sorry, im here to pretend to be a blind boy on the internet who sometimes talks to people... its different if the aesthetic jives with dorian, but... still.
😊 for likable quality for a role play mun to have
being willing to share thoughts and carry their creative weight!!!! nobody likes being the only person to control the flow of a narrative, and one of (One Of) my biggest peeves is people who get pitched an idea and then say “oh yeah thats cool im down for whatever” like. yeah, that really makes me wanna write with y
🔪 for a fandom you refuse to associate with
homestuck and taz are a hard sell for me, but i wouldnt say id refuse outright if the blog or character is appealing to me or dorian. but i dont like what the fandoms have turned into, and unless i know the mun or know Of them, im not likely to follow back because i know how yall are and i want to keep my dash free of petty irrelevant drama wank.

Wow, almost all of them, huh, @annoyinglyuniquebread? I’ll put it under a read-more as to not hit everyone with walls of text but read if ya feel like it…Okay, here we go!
0. Height
I’m 5′1 just like Carrie Fisher/Princess Leia!
1. Age
I’m 21, but my birthday is in February so pretty soon I’ll be feelin’ 22! *Dances horrendously*
2. Shoe Size
 I’m a 5 in US sizes I think…?
3. Do you smoke?
I do not
4. Do you drink?
Well yes, it’s important to stay hydrated kids, my drink of choice is coke or tea…But I assume this is asking if I drink alcohol which I do not do
5. Do you take drugs?
Once again I assume this is referring to illegal drugs and not meds, I do not do any of those. However I do take antidepressants and sleeping pills for my anxiety-related insomnia/the occasional anxiety-suppressor.
6. Age you get mistaken for?
As I’m pretty short and thin (+ you tend to look smaller in a wheelchair which i occasionally use) I’d say people tend to assume I’m a lot younger than I am. If asked my age most people tend to guess around 15, or at least they did when I was in my late teens, no one has guessed my age in a while so maybe i look older these days? idk lol
7. Have tattoos?
I do have a tiny lightening bolt on my wrist, it’s a Harry Potter reference/a symbol for my general love of stories.
8: Want any tattoos?
I do definitely want more tattoos in the future, I haven’t really decided on placements yet but I know that I want a Buffy-B (a B in the Btvs-font) on my other wrist so that my two fandom tattoos can match in placements. I also want a fox somewhere and “fearless” in Taylor Swift’s handwriting to remind me of her brilliant definition of the word: (”To me, fearless is not the absence of fear. It’s not being completely unafraid. To me, fearless is having fears. fearless is having doubts. Lots of them. To me, fearless is living in spite of those things that scare you to death.”)   which I think will help with my anxiety. Those are a few of the tattoos I know that I want to get at some point, but there’s always room for more options since I really like the idea of a lot of tattoos!
9: Got any piercings?
Nope, not even pierced ears
10: Want any piercings?
Not really, no
11: Best friend?
@gay-grandma
12: Relationship status?
Single, sapphic and sad
13: Biggest turn ons?
As far as personality and little things go I’d say people who listen and respect my opinions and my view of a situation, but also aren’t afraid to say what they think/voice their opinions I guess. Also like, when people are genuine with their affection and you can tell that they just genuinely care for you I guess? Geez this sounds cheesy! As for physically, I’m gonna say collarbones…Is that weird? I feel like that’s weird…Not necessarily seeing collar bones (malnutrition isn’t sexy, kids!) but just like biting or kissing them I don’t even know! Maybe I have a few kinks too, but this is already officially TMI and I’m gonna stop………..
14: Biggest turn offs?
Bigoted or small-minded people honestly, nope not gonna interact!
16: I’ll love you if…
You respect me, seduce me with your nerdiness and/or let me introduce you to nerdy stuff (Movies/shows/books/games etc) I like and most importantly, genuinely seem to like me tbh, I don’t ask for much…
17: Someone you miss
I live pretty far away from my family for school so I find myself almost constantly missing them and my dog :( Also you and your stupidly pretty face, @annoyinglyuniquebread I can’t believe it’s gonna be so long until I get to see you!
18: Most traumatic experience?
Probably something emotionally abusive at the hands of my biological dad or his wife but honestly I’ve repressed most of it and I don’t really wanna talk about that sooooo………*shudders* Anywayyyy
20: What I hate most about myself?
Too many things to list to be honest. I’m not trying to sound negative, but I do have a lot of issues when it comes to how I view myself, but I am working on them and am hoping to be getting to a place where I can honestly say that I don’t think I suck in the near future, wish me luck!
22: What I want to be when I get older?
Author! I wanna write, write write! If ONE kid picks up a book I’ve written and it helps them in any way at all or sparks that love of stories in them that has become my own driving force, then my goal in life has been achieved!
23: My relationship with my sibling(s)
Okay, so I have 4 siblings, two older sisters and two younger brothers. My relationship to my sisters are pretty much your standard sibling-situation, we grew up together and occasionally we wanted to murder each other, but most of the time we got along and now as adults we’re all pretty close even though I live far away. My brothers are a more complicated situation, due to my nonexistent relationship with my biological father I haven’t actually seen my little bros in years, I hope that we’ll be able to have some type of relationship one day, but as long as they live with dad I don’t see that as possible, although I love them and would love to be a proper big sib to them someday!
24: My relationship with my parent(s)
My mom is absolutely one of the most important people in my life, I love spending time with her and she’s the one I go to first if any problem, big or small arises in my life, we’ve always been extremely close and she’s quite simply my best friend. My step-dad (who I tend to refer to as dad most of the time) has been in my life since I was 4 and he’s more of a father to me than my biological dad (who i don’t even view as my ‘dad’ at all) ever was or could ever be. I love him with all my heart, he’s the best and one of the funniest people I know! I’d say generally I’m very, very close to both of my parents and they’re both extremely important to me and here I am getting sappy at 2AM.
25: My idea of a perfect date
Movie/Show marathon and cuddling with snacks tbh
26: My biggest pet peeves
When the cover/general appearance of a book on my shelf doesn’t match what the rest of the books in that series look like…All my books have to match if they’re part of the same series or I freak the fuck out honestly! That’s really the only pet peeve I can think of at the moment.
27: A description of the girl/boy I like
I kinda really like @annoyinglyuniquebread but don’t tell her, it’d just get to her pretty head and she’d probably tease me about it and I’m shy!
28: A description of the person I dislike the most
Wow, has someone told the oversized cheeto running America that he has a giant dead cat on his head yet orrrrr…?
29: A reason I’ve lied to a friend?
I can’t think of a specific situation in which I’ve done this just now, but chances are if you’re my friend I’ve probably lied to you and told you I was sick so I wouldn’t have to hang out with you that day, it’s not that I don’t WANNA hang out, I love you I promise…it’s just my very awkward introverted ass not being sure how to tell you that I need to reschedule because my social battery is drained and that I am going to physically explode if I have to be around humans for the next few days, without sounding like a hermit and/or hurting your feelings soooo…Yeah, sorry about that!
30: What I hate the most about work/school?
That it ruins the fun of learning with all those deadlines and gives me performance anxiety about stuff I’d normally be good at/comfortable with doing…
31: What my last text message says?
“Night, I love you
32: What words upset me the most?
Any type of uninformed, ignorant hate speech, when someone is being bigoted in my presence it always makes me feel like I want to scream and/or cry
33: What words make me feel the best about myself?
When people compliment my hair, clothes or writing it really makes my day every time without fail! Also when people use my chosen name and pronoun it makes me feel like I could take on the whole world on my own and win, so thank you SO much to everyone in my life who make an effort to do that every day!!
34: What I find attractive in women?
Um, everything about them, i mean have you SEEN girls??? I love being a lesbian; ladies, you’re all so beautiful I wanna squeal just thinking about it!
35: What I find attractive in men?
Them being Harrison Ford. If you are male, but not Mr. Ford I’m sorry but I’m simply not attracted to you at all and won’t date you. Sorry men, I don’t make the rules. However, if you’re reading this, Harrison from ca 1980 (why would you be?) hit me up!
37: One of my insecurities?
Too many to list again, but like I said, I am working on that!
38: My childhood career choice
Author, not much has changed, huh? I’ve actually known what I want to be since I was like 5.
40: Who I wish I could be?
A happier, more secure version of myself…Or you know Han Solo/Veronica Mars/Kim Possible, that works too!
41: Where I want to be right now?
Right at this moment I’m pretty happy here under the covers in my big comfy bed listening to Taylor Swift with my laptop in my lap and answering all these questions. Even though I’m having a pretty bad case of insomnia I feel pretty content, a little hungry tho…Think I’m gonna go make noodles and finish Stranger Things when I’m done answering these!
42: The last thing I ate
Some salted caramel chocolate a while ago, it was delicious!
43: Sexiest person that comes to my mind immediately?
Well I’d be cheating on my wife if I didn’t say Sarah Michelle Gellar, wouldn’t I? Although there are a few other candidates as well…
44: A random fact about anything
Did you guys know that @annoyinglyuniquebread aka Bella is really cute and awesome and great at holding hands? Well, if you didn’t there’s a random fact for ya!
Wow, that sure was a lot of questions, but it was fun to answer them all! Thanks for sending them, Bella

bbbored filling out oc question thing for Moffy
1. What foods do they love, and what foods do they refuse to eat? Already kinda answered this here so just gonna copy and paste; Fave: Fried eggs over a potato and veggie hash with ham and lots of black pepper.  Refuses to eat: Anything with raw onion
2. What is their weapon of choice, and what weapon do they dislike using the most? He likes vanilla splatcharger and vanilla heavy splatling. Possibly a big Sting Ray fan. He probably doesn’t like using dualies as much- too offensive for his supportive play style and he too big to roll well.
3. What is their preferred method of transportation? Usually by foot or any public transportation. Tries to walk when he’s able to save money.
4. Who did they look up to the most as a child? Who do they look up to as an adult? I don’t know enough about his childhood to say, but he currently really admires his boyfriend ! He sees Tacky as very strong and full of love and he loves him so much.
5. What kind of weather makes them happy, and what kind makes them sad? He likes clear skies with a breeze, and doesn’t like fog very much (a big understatement he is terrified of the fog).
6. What languages do they speak? Do they have any idiosyncrasies or identifiable patterns of speech, word usages, etc? He speak...squid.... I think his voice comes off as timid but he’s not at all !
7. What clothing do they like to wear, and what do they wear most often? He loves anything monochrome and unsaturated earth tones ! Also really enjoys crop tops and long long skirts. He loves his Hickory Work Cap and wears that the most often. He’s my good fashion boy.
8. Do they eat a healthy diet? A varied one? He can’t really cook so his eating habits were not good when he was in college/lived alone. Since his sister moved in, he’s been able to eat a little better.
9. As a child, what did they want to be when they grew up? Did they realize their dream? I’m sure he started out wanted to do something different, but in the end he’s always wanted to be a fashion designer ! He’s still working very hard....
10. What makes them feel safe or secure? What makes them feel insecure or unsafe? Tacky makes him feel so safe ! He feels warm and at ease when Tacky is near him. He is his ultimate comfort. Moth feels extremely unsafe during work as well as anything dealing with fog. Being out in the fog, even if its very light, makes him feel vulnerable and terrified.
11. What do they do when they need comfort? Do they seek out a person, a food, an activity, etc? When he needs comfort he turns to Tacky almost always. If Tacky isn’t there, he usually turns to Kyle and/or Sushi. He usually needs comfort via words though so he’d be more likely to turn to Kyle, though if he needs someone to listen he’d seek Sushi.
12. Do they sing or play any musical instruments, even if just for fun? How well? Moth enjoys singing ! He has a nice voice, and just sings for fun. He sings for hobby. If at home and he thinks he’s alone, he sings very passionately and would get very embarrassed if someone heard him. He sings in the shower a lot too, and often hums while he’s walking. During work, he usually sings when he gets scared to try to keep calm and try to keep himself from breaking down. Sometimes it works but sometimes it doesn’t.
13. What decision in their past did they most analyze and fret over after the fact? I’m not too sure, this is a good question... I’ll have to come back to this.
14. What are they like when they are drunk? Not sure again ! Possibly very giggly.
15. Where in their body do they keep stress or tension? I think his arms tighten up when he’s tense, upper body more likely to stiffen. 16. What do they think about where they currently live? If they could move elsewhere, would they? He likes living in Inkopolis ! He’d probably rather live in a house than an apartment, but he still likes where he’s at. His neighborhood isn’t too bad.
17. Do they have any pet peeves or petty dislikes, and how do they react to encountering them? Probably. Do I know them ? Not currently.. 18. What foods do they eat most often? Do they enjoy it? He eats a lot of veggies and eggs. I think eggs might be the only thing he can kind of cook ? He likes them a lot but he would like to eat meat more.
19. What is their favorite texture? He looks wooly textures ! They’re very comforting for him to touch.
20. Do they like to travel? How do they pack and prepare? He would LOVE to travel but he has no money !! In the event that he’d get to travel he’d definitely over pack because he can’t decide which outfits he’d wanna wear so he brings a bunch just in case... He’s very organized so he’d have a good schedule planned for the trip and wouldn’t be late to anything / miss his bus/train/etc. Very excited to go and do things rather than just chill and relax.
21. How well do they take criticism? How do they react to others noticing their flaws? He’d like to be more open to criticism as long as its constructive, but sometimes its hard. He knows he has to get better with his work if he wants a turf worthy brand someday but its hard to find good help for what to work on sometimes- especially since he doesn’t know too many people in the industry. If people pointed out a lot of his flaws it would probably bog him down.
22. What are they like when they get sick? Do they have a particular system (ears, lungs, etc) that illness gravitates to? He used to live by himself so if he was sick he’d still get up and go about his day. Even when he’s so sick that he shouldn’t be getting out of bed he’d still try to get up. I think he’d usually get colds around cold season when he went to college...since all college kids seem to get colds around the same time LMAO.
23. What is their favorite drink? i think he’d really enjoy warm drinks, especially sweet ones. He’d love sugary seasonal lattes and fudgey, rich hot chocolates with lots of whipped cream. He loves drinking out of mugs so he probably has a few at home he uses a lot.
24. How do they react to being physically injured or undergoing medical treatment? For injury- Depends on the situation ? Since he plays turf I’m sure there’s “physical injury” there but I’m not sure how painful it is since they are able to respawn. I think if he knows he can respawn he is okay.... Usually. At work, he’s very on edge. Even though they can typically “respawn” if injured I’m sure its a lot more painful to get to that point..and due to past experiences he really doesn’t trust the system for it. For medical treatment, I think he’d be okay with it if he had someone there to comfort him. This boy needs a lot of comfort... 25. What do their hands look and feel like? His hands are big like his Heart and they are good to hold.
26. How much do they eat, and how often? Do they drink appetite suppressants (tea, coffee, etc)? He had an inconsistent eating schedule in college, but now he usually eats his three meals a day + snacks. He’d love to go out for snacks more with his bf and best friends but he’s gotta save his money... He drinks coffee, but not for the purpose of an appetite suppressant.
27. Do they have children? Do they want children? What names would they choose? No children, I’m unsure if he wants any ? He doesn’t really think about it.
28. What is a gift that they have received that was especially touching or significant? This question...is pure... Anything Tacky has given him he treasures with all his heart, but just the time he spends with him is especially significant to him. Every picture and memory is important (and becomes especially important later) to him. I’m sure there’s a specific thing he has from Tacky that is very significant but I’d have to talk to Jen about that !
29. How do they arrange or decorate their living space? Very simple and clean ! He doesn’t have a lot of furniture, and most of the colors match with everything with color pops here and there. He mostly sews in the living room and in his bedroom, so he has some fabric and supplies stacked up around there.
30. Do they have any allergies or chronic conditions? None that i know of currently
