When he finds you singing.

Moving your eyes shut as you breathed in the forest air, you soon exhaled through your mouth after a few moments. Your ears flickered as you heard the noises of nature surrounding you.
You were sat on the grass, your fingers skimming over the ground.
There was a beautiful river by your area, the rustling of the waves acting like white noise as you could spot some fishes swimming through.
Deciding to take some time to yourself today, you always find yourself in this spot, often times you would do your hobbies here, including weaving.
But now, you haven’t got anything with you except your dagger strapped to your side, in case any unwanted scenarios happen. You sigh.
Then you remembered another hobby of yours that you just mainly kept to yourself, soon enough you started humming.
Shortly after, you were singing. For the most part, you didn’t really consider yourself a great singer, but singing had also become a way to relieve any kind of stress you had, whether it be a horrible day or you just wanted to sing your heart out.
You closed your eyes, getting to the middle part of the song, feeling the vibrations in your throat.
Without your knowledge, there was a pair of eyes looking at you from behind, hidden behind a tree.
Alas, you continued, smiling as you were nearing the end of the song.
The hunter watching you was taken, as if he’d never heard quite a voice like that before. It was like he was being blessed by the spirits.
Its like the tensions he felt in his body was suddenly lifted off.
Then you finished, deciding to hold the tone out for a few more seconds.
Letting out a deep breath, you smiled.
The Na’vi could feel the edge of his lip curling into a smile, shaking his head. Then he made the move to approach his mate.
Once you were preparing yourself to stand up to return to the village, you heard a twig snap from behind, making your ears perk up as your head snapped towards the direction of the noise.
Seeing his face had your eyes widen and your mouth dropping open in surprise.
“Tsu’tey?” You utter.
“I did not know you could sing that well.” Was the first thing he said, coming closer to you.
You suddenly felt little. You looked down, avoiding his gaze. “You heard all of that? I thought you were out for a hunt—”
“I was. But I heard this voice singing, never thought it would be you.” Tsu’tey admitted, moving his fingers to your chin, he slowly lifts your chin up, making you look at him as he retracted his finger.
“Why did you not tell me?”
“I have never really told anyone.” You said, looking at his sharp features.
His face scrunched into a light confusion before nodding. “But you are good, ma (Y/N).”
Your heart spiked at his compliment.
“Thank you.” You reply.
Tsu’tey softly places his hand on the small of your back. “I see you are headed back, why won’t you sing for me as we walk, yawntutsyìp? (darling?).”
You opened your mouth but you felt your cheeks rush with warmth.
“How can I not say no to that?”
Tsu’tey gives you a warm grin as he leans in to nuzzle his forehead to the side of your head, planting a feather-light kiss.
Finding satisfaction in his showing of affection, you find yourself holding onto his arm as you two stroll back to the village, with Tsu’tey in awe as you sang for him.

Did you pray to Eywa? When the man you loved lay dying on the battlefield? (Tsu’tey x reader)
Tumblr media
Warning: Tsu’tey is dead in this one. If that’s not your jam or if you don’t want to be reminded, please don’t read.
Summary: A bittersweet moment between mates.
Word count: 1168
As usual, arrows around speech indicate that the character is talking in na’vi. For example, <”Fuck you.”>
If you prefer to read on Ao3 you can find this fic, here!
>_<
HomeTree was alive with the usual hum of the clan, but there was no one in sight. The main chamber was strangely vacant as you and Tsu’tey crouched near the main fire, thighs pressed together as you tried and failed to get your chores done.
Your mate was chuckling at a joke you’d cracked, teeth flashing in the reflection of the flames as his hands shook with his laughter. The sound was music to your ears, well worth the light shove he gave you in retaliation to you distracting him from sharpening his arrows. Your cheeks ached as you rocked with the light jab, turning back to the torso wrap you were mending, hands clumsy on the bone needle.
Bit by bit, his laughter quietened down. The soft pop of the flames and the distant chatter of the clan all around filling in the silence. You dropped your gaze back to the torso wrap in your hands. It was one of Tsu’tey’s, the leather torn from a sharp bush, nothing that couldn’t be fixed with a few stitches.
<”It feels like we haven’t talked in ages.”> Tsu’tey mused as he finally gained control over himself, grin still in place as his eyes flicked up to meet your gaze. <”Just the two of us without Jake or Neytiri butting in.”> He continued, setting his sharpening rock down and leaning more firmly into your side.
His arm crept around your shoulder, wordlessly convincing you to set aside the bone needle to cuddle with him instead. You rolled your eyes, more than happy to indulge as you pressed firmly into the strong shape of him, his arm keeping you close as his small front braids tickled your cheek. Melting under the attention, you reached up and gripped his hand where it was draped over your shoulder. Your fingers fit perfectly together. His four digits were perfectly framed by your five.
<”I know.”> You agreed with a gentle squeeze of your hands. <”Which is a miracle considering how clingy you are.”>
He growled, practically dragging you into his lap in retaliation, despite how you wiggled and screeched. His grip was relentless, manhandling you firmly against his chest as his arms enveloped you on either side. Your tail flicked in content, eyes slipping to half mast as you nestled further into his warmth.
Against your ear, his chest rumbled to life as he purred, the steady thump of his tail by your feet giving away his happiness. You smiled, soothed by the familiar sound.
Beyond the protective shadow of HomeTree, the sun was steadily dipping behind the moon, allowing eclipse to turn the sky dark in its wake. The freckles dotted across Tsu’tey’s chest began to light up in familiar constellations, which you greedily traced with your hand, committing them to memory despite having already familiarised yourself with them. This was a part of Tsu’tey that you would recognise without having to think about it. His glowing spots allowed you to find him regardless of how dark it was, the patterns drawing your eye even in a room full of people with no torch to guide you to him.
The smell of smoke made your idle tracing pause. Tsu’tey’s breathing had turned sharp, stuttering. The familiarity of it hit you like a truck. You dropped your gaze to your lap, breath catching painfully in your throat as you found yourself suddenly terrified to find bullet holes where bioluminescent freckles were supposed to be.
<”Are the people safe?”> Your mate rasped, his voice pained even as his hand remained steady as it slid down your back. A comforting weight against the tsunami of emotion that had rushed in to drown you.
<”What?”> You croaked before you could stop yourself. The hand kept stroking, the pressure firm but tender, gliding up the length of your spine. Your ears were flat against your skull, desperate to keep out his response, despite how badly you needed to hear his voice.
You could smell blood now. Could feel it collecting like a bad smell in the back of your tongue as your tail curled between your legs. <”The clan?”> Tsu’tey repeated, voice weak. <”Are they safe?”>
You looked up before you could stop yourself, heart clenching. His expression had turned haunted, the joy whisked away by an invisible force. You reached for his neck, hands wrapping around his nape, gripping tightly to warm skin in an attempt to ground yourself as you replied honestly. <”They’re safe.”>
He visibly relaxed. The din of the clan moving around in the upper levels of HomeTree coming back into focus as if it had never faded. Your mate’s expression cleared, his purr returning as the smell of blood retreated. His hand was steady as he reached up to cup your trembling fingers at the nape of his neck, expression kind.
<”What is it my love?”> He asked softly, the earlier joy dulled by the crease between his brows. You wanted to reach up and smooth the wrinkle away, either with your lips or your thumb.
<”I miss you.”> You whispered softly, fighting every impulse to hide in his neck at the vulnerable words. Instead, you kept gazing at his face, drinking in every detail. From the soft dusting of glowing freckles across his cheeks, to the beautiful markings curves across his features. His eyes pinned you in place, concerned and open as he gazed at you with a private smile tugging at the corner of his lips.
<”I’m right here.”> He promised, squeezing you tighter to him, and you clutched him closer in response.
<”I know.”>
<”I am always here.”>
It felt like a vow. A heavy promise with so many hidden meanings and connotations that your heart clenched painfully. Your eyes stung so you closed them quickly, unwilling to alarm him.
Tsu’tey huffed good naturedly, his warmth drawing in as he pressed your foreheads together. You basked in the contact, loving the brush of your noses, the firm pressure, the ghost of his breath on your lips.
<”Stay strong.”> He encouraged. The statement shaking you to your core, like an arrow to the heart. Deep in your soul, you knew what he was really telling you.
<”No, not yet.”> You begged and he chuckled.
<”I love you.”> Was his only response, before his warmth pulled back.
Your eyes flew open as your hands chased him, desperate to hold on. Begging for a few precious moments longer. The din of the clan fell away, his presence evaporating with them.
As you stared blankly at the open clearing you were kneeling in, you knew you were no longer beneath HomeTree.
It came back to you in waves of pure sorrow. HomeTree had been destroyed. The Sky People had been banished. And your mate no longer walked beside you.
Your throat was tight as you reached up to disconnect your queue from the Tree of Souls, sending a silent prayer of thanks to the Great Mother for bringing him back to you; however briefly.

Hey, is it just me or does Neytiri vaulting off her banshee straight onto the enemy's ship in the trailer mirror Tsu'tey's final stand? Isn't it kinda parallel?
Hmm that’s an interesting idea!! Tbh I hadn’t really seen that, but I think I can definitely see what you mean. Tsu’tey leaps off his ikran and onto the ship with a very cool open air shot, while Neytiri gets that very cool leap into a tuck and roll shot, so in that way they’re similar.
Tbh I’m not entirely sure they’re meant to be parallel’s, but I really do think it shows that shots like that are ones they’re at least going for in terms of popular action shots. So they’re similar in action themes, at least!

EVERY CORNER OF THIS HOUSE IS HAUNTED. (2)
Tumblr media
Synopsis ! Jake had taken you as his own after Tsu'tey's passing, leaving no one to care for you. Things had been good before your relationship with him had blurred along growing of age. You and him fought all the time; argued each other's ear off and tonight was no different-- except words have been said, severing the already damaged bond. Content & warning Jake sully x Daughter!Reader, Sully kids x Sister!Reader Neytiri x Daughter!Reader. (wc: 5264)
Tumblr media
You swung your legs over the edge, feet ghosting just above the calm lake that surrounded this part of the forest. It was a bit far from the village, but you felt more at ease knowing that you wouldn’t be found easily. This was your own place and ironically enough, a spot you and Jake had found years ago. You could see the familiar marks left from the arrows you had shot, deeply engraved in some of the trunks.
One drawing had caught your eye. From one of the trees, a bit taller than the rest; an image of you and your father. It was silly, clearly etched by the hands of a kid no older than six. The lines were harsh as the wood itself was tough, but it was there– almost mockingly. You scoffed, mindlessly grabbing a pebble and flinging it right on the center.
You have barely moved since you arrived here; detached yourself the moment you had sat near the jagged rocks. It was a habit you presumed you got from Jake. The longer you stayed, the more you succumbed to your ever-bleeding wounds– there was just something so tragic about being an eldest daughter.
You weren’t all bite, despite the constant snarl on your lips. You weren't so egotistical as to think that you couldn't possibly be wrong, but tonight, tonight you knew damn well Jake was to blame.
‘Is it because I’m not your daughter?’
Your own voice had rang through your mind. You wince in response, cringing internally. That could very well be the case– you weren't part of their family. You can’t help but think that they may have done it out of pity.
But Kiri wasn’t exactly their own either. In fact, you and Kiri weren’t at all opposites at birth.
While you came from Tsu’tey, she was from Grace; both of you from separate blood and brought together by one. However you weren’t exactly close to Eywa or have the skills she possessed. Kiri was undeniably special– spiritual and awfully attuned. Heck, she had managed to tame her own ikran simply by asking it to be her friend.
Still, there was no reason for Jake to treat you differently. You were jealous– of course you are. If he’s able to be as gentle as he is with your baby sister, why couldn’t he with you? It was a sickening thought, to think that he acts so rigid and unrelenting around you while he looked at her like she had hanged every star in the night sky. Sure Kiri was special, but you were at least his daughter too. Can’t he spare you even just a second of a loving glance?
With Kiri, he listens intently– looks at her with such tenderness as he takes in her every word. It was the same gaze he wore whenever we visited the sky-people lab; Jake would stare a bit too long at Grace, expression somewhere along the line of reminiscing. Whenever he had moments like these, his eyes would hold some sort of longing– a promise. Perhaps it was because Grace meant the world to him– literally. She taught him everything about Pandora, showed him the way of the Na’vi; gave him another shot at living.
Kiri was exactly like her mother; wise and cunning. Jake probably sees Grace in her very image.
You’d think this would be the embodiment of every father with their daughters; kind and vulnerable, but you would argue otherwise. When he looked at you, it was more of regret– grief prolonging. It was a gaze so ugly and unwanted; a weight you’re not supposed to carry.
Because you’re exactly like Tsu’tey and Jake sees him in yourself.
It was no secret that Jake was softer when it came to Tuk and Kiri. While you are relieved that it had been that way, you can never pray for them to experience the struggles you are burdened with– it tugged on your heartstrings that you would never feel the warmer side of your father; will never know how it feels to be babied nor to be held gently.
You were her daughter too so you didn’t understand. What made you any different from them that you had to pretend his love was hidden beneath his icy glares and dismissive grunts? These were emotions nonetheless– however odd or minuscule they may have been. You thought that maybe, just maybe, there’d be a crack to this exterior. Maybe if you tried harder, Jake would soften up to you too.
But that wasn’t the case because he never did. You had picked apart pieces of yourself that you thought weren’t pleasing– did better despite your age. You were young and only yearned for your father’s approval.
( “You’re not doing it right. Again.”
As you stretched your already sore arms for the nth time, ready to take aim, his hands tug on your stance– a bit harsher than intended. Light continued to glare down on your figure as you tirelessly corrected your posture again. Your ears pricked up at the sound of your sibling’s laughter, coming to you from afar. You stole a glance at them as they continued to play and enjoy themselves by the water, their childish exuberance highlighted by their splashing around in the shallow waves.
“Can’t I take a break?” You whined, dropping your stiff shoulders. Hearing them have fun made you want to jump in as well.
“I didn’t let you talk my ear off just to give up. Come on, you promised me a bullseye today, baby girl.” He said, eyebrows furrowing a bit. You look down to your feet, a bit embarrassed. You didn’t want him to not take you seriously– you fear that if you let him down now, he wouldn’t let you do anything again. “Just one hit and I’ll let you off–”
His head turns sharply towards Kiri as she calls out for Jake, asking him to join them in their game. He can't help but to let out a small chuckle as he yells back a short response of ‘in a minute.’
“Again, come on.” His hands move quickly and firmly grasp your arms, helping you back to the same position before. “I’ll be watching, promise.” With a light tap on your shoulder, he rushes off, chasing after your siblings towards the water.
The quicker you got it done, the sooner you would be able to play. You pulled on the string again and released a heavy sigh before releasing the arrow. After several tries of firing shots that missed their mark, you finally managed to hit dead center with one shot. Your eyes widen in surprise, disbelief crossing your face before you jump excitedly, “Did you see that, dad? Did you–”
Your yell was instantly drowned out by Lo'ak's hearty laugh. You couldn't help but feel deflated as you watched your father lift him up onto his shoulders while the others trailed behind them in a fit of giggles. You run towards them, bow in hand.
“You weren’t watching–” You tried to pull his hand in your direction, gesturing towards the arrow that was still firmly embedded into the red ring you had created on the trunk of the tree.
"Ah, darn, I missed it?" He said between breathy chuckles as Kiri tried to tug on his tail from behind, barely taking note of your work. "Why don't you do it again? This time I'll be sure to pay attention."
“But I want to play with you now.”
“Dad– Neteyam caught something! It’s huge, come look!” Jake slowly lowers Lo'ak from his shoulders, letting them pull him towards where Neteyam stood. The children squealed at the sight of the fish (with Kiri letting out a few disgusted gags), but Jake reveled in pride. “Yeah, Neteyam, the mighty fisherman!”
You stayed still on the shore watching them– watching him. It was so easy to lose your father’s attention despite your best efforts. You retreated back to your spot, eyes glaring at the arrow sticking out from the tree. If a single bullseye wasn’t enough to impress Jake, then you’d just have to perfect your aim. Your hits will never miss again and you’ll make him proud.)
You were clueless. If only you knew that there was no satisfying your father, you would’ve spent the days tirelessly training to play instead– to be an actual kid without having the worries of a grown adult.
You could leave. At the thought of it, your head swiveled towards the unfamiliar path that would take you away from the clan– away from everything you know. You could leave and never come back; take your father’s name and build your own person. There was this selfish thought pricking at the back of your brain that once they noticed your absence, everyone would look for you and even feel sorry for what they put you through; that Jake would be sorry to lose you.
You wonder what kind of reputation you'd leave for him when everyone realizes you had run away, never to come back. But it was unfair– your mother would be devastated. Neytiri had already gone through enough, were you worth another heartbreak? She didn’t deserve that.
Suppose you could only dream that Jake would put on an effort for a search party– for him to grow hopeless and regretful while searching for you. You could only dream that he’d run towards you, arms wide open. “You scared me, sweetheart. I thought I lost you. I’m sorry, dad’s sorry.”
But you’ve been away for hours and no one has reached out yet. They probably assumed that you only needed some time and space to clear your head, not seeing any cause for alarm. The only thing that waited for you back home was a hell of a scolding and a week’s punishment of tending the ikrans. Sighing, you decided to just head back.
Tumblr media
Your steps are careful– silent, as you near your hut again. You expected for the worst. Neytiri could have told Jake to stay guard outside until you finally decided to come home for all you know, but you weren’t ready for another heated conversation with him just yet. So as you make your way back, you stick your neck out behind the bushes, trying to make out of the surroundings.
Surprisingly, it wasn’t Jake that was waiting outside. It was Kiri. Her figure glows underneath the starry night and it was hard not to be discouraged, but you suppose it was better than having to deal with your father again.
"Kiri?" You called out in a low voice, and instantly her head snapped up. She quickly jumps to her feet upon seeing your arrival, heart racing as she rushes towards you. Without hesitation, she wraps her arms tightly around you in a hug. She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath to try and steady herself. “Oh great mother, thank you.”
You tentatively put your arms around her in response, hands patting the top of her head. “This isn’t the first time I ran from home,” Your voice is soft– unsure.
Feeling your hesitance, she slowly withdraws from you. “But it’s the first time sempul has said something so..” She stops herself mid-sentence, shaking her head as if to clear away her thoughts. “I worry you’d finally want to leave.”
You stared at her, feeling your insides soften. You could never get angry at Kiri, no matter the situation. You couldn’t just leave. She was your sister still and no one would ever understand you like she does. No one will ever grow you another sibling. As much as you hated yourself, you were meant to watch as she thrives.
Siblings were such a weird concept; it was hard for you to wrap your head around it. Despite the fact that you could hate them with every fibre of your being, you’d still love them unconditionally and protectively; despise them but burn down the whole universe for their safety. It made no sense to be so full of such strong, conflicting emotions all at once, but she was your sister and that was enough explanation.
“Stupid eywa-powers.” You joke as you take your index finger, lightly pressing it against her forehead. She playfully swats your hand away with a laugh, eyes crinkling.
She silently murmurs, “Not stupid” to herself, a small laugh escaping her lips.
You two slowly sat on your wicker chairs in front of the fire. The seat creaked as you made yourself comfortable. Jake was real handy with his hands back then– made all sorts of things for everyone. Wooden Toruks, comfortable hammocks, and each one a special chair. Everyone’s name was etched on the back and although it was a bit smaller now, considering it was made for when you were toddlers, no one had grown out of sitting on it.
You smiled at the memory. It was like tradition for the Sully family– a silly one, but loved nonetheless. He first made you the wicker chair and although it was rather flimsy, you argued that Neteyam should have one as well when he came around.
It was so conflicting– to be able to remember your father was mean, despite being kind, then to know him as kind, despite being mean. You fear Jake could be every word you think of but the word father.
“Remember that time when we played hide-and-seek and we all thought Lo’ak cheated by hiding back at home only to find out we left him at the forest?” Kiri spoke, eyes fixated at the flames.
You chuckled, “Yeah, even dad was in on it– told us not to tell mom that we left him.”
“Oh– and that one time they left us to Mo’at to have their little dates and came home to see grandma knocked out and her hut a mess?”
You laughed, rather loudly this time. You remembered the memory like it was yesterday– little Neteyam wrapped from head to toe in bandages as you two tried to play healers; pastes and herbs were scattered everywhere while Lo’ak was playing to his own devices happily (something about kid Lo’ak and wanting to play alone most of the time). “Lo’ak and his lisp trying to explain why he was covered in warrior paint all over his body.”
“Ki-ti told me to do it!” Kiri squeaked out in her best impression of Lo’ak, before both of you burst into smothered laughter— careful not to wake anyone up. After taking a few moments to catch your breath, the area was silent once more. There was no sound other than the crackle of the fire, its flame illuminating the darkness in the vicinity.
“I’m trying to see the situation in both perspectives,” She starts once the quietness grows unbearable. You averted your gaze, not wanting to talk it out with her.
“I really don’t wanna talk about it, Kiri.” You threw your head back, your eyes burning a hole into the night sky.
“I just don’t want it to explode like what happened a while ago again.”
You kiss your teeth and let out an exasperated sigh, tongue clicking as you exhale. Deep down you knew that there was no getting out of this situation, so you may as well hear what they had to say. “Fine. What’s your diagnosis, doc?”
The flap of the hut's entrance is suddenly thrown back, revealing a rather disoriented looking Lo'ak stumbling out. It's clear he had just been stirred from his slumber. “You two aren’t as quiet as you think you are.” He said, his voice low. He made his way over to Kiri and sat down beside her with an audible yawn. “What is it this time?”
“Eywa tells me of your troubles,” Kiri starts, ignoring Lo’ak. “Father isn’t at all the greatest, I know, but he’s trying– His choices aren't really the best, but it’s what he knows. If you think about it, he was just as young once and you don’t exactly become a father twice.”
“What are you saying?”
“She’s saying– cut him some slack, maybe?” Lo'ak breaks the stillness with an unexpected remark, his voice quite loud in comparison to Kiri's careful words. His comment catches you off guard and you shift your position uncomfortably on your seat.
“Brother, you really have to stop going out with Spider. You and your lingo is getting harder and harder to discern.” Kiri jabs him from the side, “What he means to say is– maybe you should try being the bigger person instead?”
You let out a deep breath through your nostrils, not enjoying the direction of the conversation. Your brow crinkles in concentration as you try to make sense of why the discussion was taking this turn. You had no desire to pick apart the problem any further and yet, here you were– perhaps Neytiri told them to talk some sense to you? To quiet down for the sake of your old man?
Already sensing your anger, Lo’ak quickly interjects again. “Listen, It’s like,” He turns to you, the grogginess in his expression fading away and being replaced by something more serious. “If dad happens to reprimand us, we save our excuses or any reason we have. The response he wants is an apology and an apology is what you’re going to say– that’s it.”
“But that’s unfair.” You let out a groan, lips turning into a deep frown. “Especially to you and Neteyam.”
Lo’ak only lets out a playful scoff, as if he’s trying to lighten the mood. “You mean, especially to Neteyam. Bro’s an automated machine– expect him to immediately take the blame.” He says, grinning. “I think dad is just.. cracking the code still? Shit, I don’t know. He had to learn to live on two different stars. It must be hard on him.”
“Doesn’t it hurt you? Trying to understand someone older?”
Lo’ak stills for a minute as heavy silence envelopes everyone. “Of course it does. It stings a lot sis– but I think, no parent deserves a resentful son when all they wanted was for me to be better.”
Then it crashes down upon you like a heavy sack filled with rocks, a realization pressing directly against your chest as you watch Lo’ak’s face, illuminated against the flicker of the flames– the lights cast an image you failed to recognize before. Your brothers weren’t exactly immune to Jake’s ways either. He was equally as tough on them.
Maybe you can try for their sake. Maybe you should take the initiative instead of waiting for your father’s open arms.
“Why don’t you join us tomorrow instead? Take your mind off things. We’re visiting the old shack with Spider,” Lo'ak's hand carefully reaches for your hair, the tips of his fingers ruffling through your braids– a gesture he picked up after Neteyam. You chuckle, suddenly slightly embarrassed.
“Isn’t it dangerous?” You ask, eyebrows furrowed.
“It is,” Kiri answers for Lo’ak, giving him a pointed glare. “Tuk heard about it and is begging to come along.”
“More like blackmailed me– I’ll tell mom if you won’t let me come.” He put on a mocking impression of Tuk, sticking his tongue out in an exaggerated way. Kiri gave him another jab, causing him to hiss in response. “But it should be safe.”
Kiri rolls her eyes. “We are so getting into trouble.”
“You guys go,” You say, back resting against the chair again. “Think I should fix the situation with dad first before getting in trouble again.”
You feel Kiri’s eyes on you– gaze emitting a sense of gratitude, almost like a tangible thank you for trying. It’s funny how she’s younger than you and yet she looked out for you more than you had.
You let out a deep sigh as the three of you settled in, reveling in the quiet serenity of the woods. The soft sounds of the forest enveloped you, providing a sense of calm that was hard to miss. Slowly, it lulled you all to a familiar kind of comfort.
Tumblr media
Breakfast was unsurprisingly silent.
You felt like the room was full of robots, their limbs jerking and movements mechanically programmed as they ate. As everyone shifted ever so slightly, it seemed almost like they were doing it robotically - stiff and slow. It was like they were walking on eggshells around you and it was hard not to roll your eyes.
It was painfully awkward– a hard watch as Jake tried hard not to make eye contact with you. Neytiri would occasionally jab him from the side and pinch the fat of his thigh. ‘Talk to her.’ – her glare would send him the message.
He lets out a sigh before visibly gulping. “Y/n.”
Your head suddenly jerks upwards from the bowl resting in your lap, startled by your father’s voice calling for you. Neytiri watches in anticipation while your heart pounded madly against your chest. Suddenly, the air fills with tension as all movement ceases. Not a single soul speaks or breathes– waiting.
“Pass the salt.” Jesus Christ.
You give him a deadpan expression, stretching your arms over to pass it to him. He carefully takes it, shaking it over his already salty meal. Neytiri could only push her hands against her face in frustration, a groan of exasperation coming from deep within. After a few minutes, she finishes up and leaves with Tuk in her arms. The rest follow suit.
“I’m off,” You finish cleaning up the table, standing up from your seat and grabbing the weapons you needed for an impromptu hunt. Without waiting for a reply, you left Jake alone on the table.
As you trekked further into the forest, you prayed to Eywa for guidance. You were careful to smear the war paint onto your cheeks and forehead– breathing labored, but focused nonetheless.
You figured, your father has been doing bad from the recent hunts– only coming home with fruits and small portions of meat, sometimes none at all. It was that kind of season where the animals were out to hide and hibernate. You didn’t know where you got the confidence that you’d be able to return with something, considering the best next best warriors could hardly do so.
You had to try regardless; you thought that perhaps it could be a way for you and Jake to open up a conversation with each other. Maybe he could soften down his glare a bit when you come home with something to eat– but as hours passed and the sun burned to noon, you were only met with disappointment.
You stopped by an unfamiliar area, leaning against a tree as you tried to catch your breath. You regret not bringing your ikran with you– just what were you thinking?
As if the great mother had noticed your desperation, a familiar sound roars from a distance. Your ears perked up as you tried to walk through the thick bushes. A lone sturmbeest, drinking by the river. You sighed in relief before hurriedly taking your bow out of your back. They mostly traveled by a herd, but today might just be your luckiest– you stretch your arms, carefully approaching the animal.
Just this once, you pleaded, be in my favor.
Tumblr media
The journey home was dreadful. You had been carrying meat and a few bones for what seemed like hours on end, feeling the strain in your back from the task. It was a small sturmbeest– presumably female by the size, but it should be enough to provide meals for a week or so. Before you knew it, eclipse approached fast and you were eager to meet your hammock.
You couldn’t see; unable to hold any form of light as you needed both hands to carry the heavy sack, but the thought of going home with something to proudly show your father rekindled the sense of pride that was long gone; a feeling you hadn't had in a long time– burned by the countless times you’ve tried to gain even a drop of recognition.
You were successful in hunting a sturmbeest when no one couldn’t for the past weeks– your father would be proud and that was all the strength you needed to continue waking.
Noticing the familiar path back to the clan, a surge of adrenaline courses through your body from the thought of already nearing home. But as the horns blared from the village, you felt nothing but confusion– What could it mean and why this late? You quickened your pace towards them.
Ikrans flew in, landing at the open space as everyone gathered around. You squeezed your way in through the crowd– stomach churning as the sound of Tuk's cries became more and more clear with every step; but before you could run to your baby sister, you were harshly pulled back. You immediately recognize your father’s calloused hands, but this time his grip was harsh– unrelenting. Careful not to trip on your feet, you steadied yourself, head looking up to meet his glare.
“Where were you?”
And just like that, your thoughts come crashing down around you from the sight of your father towering your figure, leaning in slightly. You feel it in the pit of your stomach; this wasn't what you wanted to come home to, this wasn't what you were expecting.
“Sir I–”
“The kids are hurt,” Neytiri hissed, tugging him sharply away from you. “For once, hold your tongue.”
He gives you one last glance, nostrils flaring as he walks away. That was your cue to trail behind. You walked behind him, eyes cast downwards as your thoughts raced through your mind. Neytiri is quick to come and stand by your side, soft kisses pressed into the top of your head. “Are you hurt, ma’ite? Where were you?” She softly asks.
You pause, feeling the words on the tip of your tongue leave the moment you try to open your mouth to speak. For some reason, you felt embarrassed— ashamed.
“What happened?” You whispered as you neared your grandmother’s hut. You glanced back to your sibling’s shivering figures, all of them unable to look you in the eye. Neytiri didn’t answer either– didn’t know how to tell you that they had found them once again. They processed the severity of the situation still, clearly shaken up and scared.
Everyone stepped inside, Mo'at immediately gathering each of them in a warm embrace. She spoke her thanks to Eywa in a gentle murmur, kissing the top of their heads. Neytiri quickly drew Tuk into her own arms, easing her shaking body.
“Outside, now.” Jake whispers before leaving. You take one last look around at all the people in the room before finally following him, your palms beginning to sweat as your anxiety intensifies.
Once you both find yourselves in a place where there were no lingering stares or whispers, (and without Neytiri having to save your ass this time), he turns to you, anger just as fiery as before. He strides back and forth, feet heavy on the ground as he attempts to choose his words carefully.
“I–” He started to speak, but then averted his gaze, his jaw clenched tight as he tried again. “Where were you?”
You try to swallow the lump forming in your throat as you mull over the question, taking a deep breath before finally attempting to answer. “I went out on a hunt. I have–”
“Without telling anyone firsthand? With scattered avatars over the perimeter?” Jake is quick to interject, arms flailing in anger. “Just what were you thinking? You knew about them going to the old shack and you did nothing to prevent it?”
Your shoulders slump wearily, feeling extremely overwhelmed. “I only wanted to–”
“Jesus Christ, it’s always about what you want, yeah? You with wanting to be olo’eykte, you with wanting to be heard. You and your goddamn wants had us all worried!”
And as you listen to him raise his voice, you turn younger and younger– until you were that same kid trying to tug on his arms to look at your first hit; that same kid who would do anything just for a moment of his time. It was like being ten years old all over again and realizing that he was slowly slipping away. That’s where you finally decided that Jake— your father, was just capable of unloving a child.
You take a step back, feeling the frustration boiling over as well. “Well maybe if you were a better father, they wouldn’t have the need to go against you every once in a while!” You shouted with the same volume as his, “You act as if we’re some sort of troops rather than a family–”
“I do it for you– for everyone! To keep them safe! You think it’s easy?”
“Well you did a pretty good job because from what I see, they’re shaking in their boots inside grandma’s hut!” You sarcastically remarked, “Best dad of Pandora, yeah?”
“Jesus Christ,” He mutters under his breath before looking up, as if he was pleading for Eywa to lengthen his patience. He then looked at you, eyes momentarily softening. You were breathing heavily, fangs baring. It was funny, he thought. You weren’t his daughter and yet you stood in front of him now looking exactly like him.
What he didn’t understand was that it wasn't Tsu’tey’s attitude that was passed down to you– rather, it was Jake’s anger you inherited. This was all him. All his fault.
“I thought I had it good, having Toruk Makto as a father. Five year old me was the proudest, if not a bit boastful too.” You muttered, gaze not meeting his. “There’s this huge difference that draws the line between being the olo’eyktan and a father and you’re doing a real shit job at the latter.”
I miss the latter, you failed to say.
You failed to see the way his ears flattened against his head, how his shoulders dropped like he couldn’t hold the weight of the world’s pressure anymore– but you were unable to see him. No, you two didn’t see each other eye to eye. To know that you failed your child was something a parent would never want to hear. His own daughter resented him and it was a heartache beyond repair.
“You think you make parenting any easier for me?”
“Then I wish you never took me in!”
It was such a thoughtless thing to do; to utter words that you know will only harm you more than they would ever heal - but it was there, finally out of your system; a though that lingered for as long as you can remember. Why take me in? Why raise a kid you wouldn't be able to care for?
You only wished that words could be undone but neither of you knew when to bite one's tongue back.
“Yeah?” He challenged, letting out a mocking snicker. “I really wish I didn’t– is that what you want me to say? Then go ahead and leave. Find a new family, see if they won’t find you any less difficult.”
And that was the final blow– the push you needed to leave. You looked at him in disbelief, vision blurry with tears. You shoved the bag right to his chest, forgetting it momentarily amidst the shouting session you just had with your father; the one you desperately wanted to present to him. With nothing else to say, you stormed off, leaving him behind.
Oh Eywa, there is nothing else as undoing as being an eldest daughter.

...hmm...just thinkin' about an Avatar "no angst" AU, y'know, like an AU where the characters who died in the first movie just...didn't? For example...
• Tsu'tey and Sylwanin are both alive and well. They officially tied the knot not long after the point when Sylwanin would've died in canon, and already have a child together by the time Jake arrives on Pandora.
• Eytukan also lives and therefore he and Mo'at are still leading the clan, though of course Tsu'tey and Sylwanin are next in line.
• Because the schoolhouse incident never happened in this AU, Grace was never kicked out of the village; her school is still running and she is on good terms with the Omatikaya.
• The RDA is overall less psychotic than they are in canon, and the Avatar Program has been largely successful in establishing diplomacy with the local clans. There is still some level of tension between the humans and the Na'vi of course, because the humans are ultimately still there to mine unobtainium and the Na'vi would prefer there was no mining at all, but in this AU the RDA is at least principled enough to not do things like bulldoze the Tree of Voices or bomb Hometree etc. (so, Hometree is still standing). Jake was never asked to spy on the Na'vi.
• Grace is actually the one to introduce Jake to Neytiri when she brings Jake and Norm along to the school one day. Neytiri is intrigued by the goofy non-scientist "warrior" dreamwalker and Jake finds himself equally intrigued by her; they begin spending more and more time together, and when Jake expresses curiosity about her way of life Neytiri just naturally kinda takes it upon herself to teach him the ways of the clan.
• Because Neytiri is neither tsakarem nor engaged to Tsu'tey in this AU, her romance with Jake is not quite as ~forbidden~ as it was in canon (and honestly they make zero effort to hide their feelings; the whole clan knows lol). The only remaining barrier is the fact that he's a dreamwalker and how that may affect things.
• Jake and Neytiri fall head over heels for each other about as fast as they do in canon; after three months Jake is already fully convinced that he wants remain with Neytiri and the clan for the rest of his life rather than ever go back to Earth, where there is nothing left for him. Even getting the spinal surgery to fix his legs no longer holds any interest for him, since of course his avatar body can walk just fine.
• By that point Neytiri begs Mo'at and Eytukan to let Jake do the coming-of-age ceremonies and become part of the clan so they can become mates. Mo'at and especially Eytukan are hesitant, but Mo'at consults Eywa and Eywa sends a sign of approval, so they allow it. Jake spends about an extra month preparing more specifically for Iknimaya and Uniltaron, and soon after completing those he and Neytiri actually get to have a proper mating ceremony. Jake does go through the permanent consciousness transfer at some point, though I haven't yet come up with the exact circumstances there...
• The Sully kids get to have more extended family! Grandpa Eytukan, Uncle Tsu'tey, and Aunt Sylwanin are all still around, along with a handful of cousins (Tsu'tey's and Sylwanin's kids).
• Quaritch never shot Grace in this AU, which means she never had to undergo the attempted consciousness transfer, which means Kiri wasn't conceived the way she was in canon. Buuuuuut I still want Kiri as part of the Sully family, so in this AU she is Jake and Neytiri's biological daughter and Neteyam's twin. She doesn't have the special Eywa powers that she has in canon, but does still have a spiritually-minded personality, and is a strong candidate for next tsakarem after Sylwanin. Grace still adores and dotes on her, especially when she shows interest in botany.
• Norm and Trudy are happy in a long-term relationship.
• There was no Battle at the Hallelujah Mountains, therefore Paz didn't die and was still around to raise Spider (undecided on how involved Quaritch was though).
• I like to imagine that in this AU Paz and Trudy are good friends, both being pilots and all. It's through Trudy that Paz and Spider become involved with folks from the Avatar program and Spider meets the Sully kids.
• Because she doesn't have the RDA-related traumas she has in canon, Neytiri is totally chill with Spider in this AU. She is mostly just curiously amused by the strange little human boy running around with his Na'vi friends.
• Spider is semi-trilingual English/Spanish/Na'vi. English is his go-to since everyone he knows can speak it, but he can also do some Spanish (Paz and maybe Trudy's influence) and quite a lot of Na'vi (Omatikaya influence, though Norm was thrilled to help when he caught wind that Spider was interested in learning). Sometimes he (subconsciously) mixes up a combination of any two or even all three and spews out mishmash sentences no one else understands immediately and has to stop and re-word.
• Because Quaritch is not the Big Bad Evil Guy the way he is in canon, Spider isn't really bothered by being called Miles. However, the nickname "Spider" somehow just stuck when he was very young so most people still call him that; it's mostly just Paz (and Quaritch) who call him Miles.
• Jake is not Toruk Makto in this AU, because with the RDA being more cooperative/less aggressive, he never needed to be. He and Neytiri are just normal (albeit well-liked/respected) hunters in the clan. Perhaps eventually a day will come when Toruk Makto is needed and Jake will have some reason to step up...but not yet. He's perfectly content being just a regular clan member.
• This has the side-effect of lessening Neteyam and Lo'ak's dramatic stunts as teenagers, because the legacy they're trying to live up to is simply "strong respectable hunter" rather than "legendary olo'eyktan Toruk Makto"

Yn/3rd person pov
It was very rare to have a quiet morning even more so with your mate still in bed when you wake up "morning" you grogily spoke lazily throwing your arm over him in a somewhat of a hug.
"Morning ma yn" he whispered his body cramped up in your queen sized bed, you had to sleep in the lab now since norman said being couped up with the mask all the time wasn't good for the baby.
I think that was the first time tsutey ever listened and agreed with him "you should've gone back" I whispered cuddling into his warm body nuzzling my head into his chest.
His hands moved to settle around me "no ways I would leave you and the child" his voice was low and raspy still laced with sleep I giggled quietly closing my eyes basking in this moment.
"We don't get do to this very often" I whispered making him hum in response "we must cherish it" he spoke his hands slowly moving to draw little patterns onto my skin.
I let out a happy groan as I stretched out my limbs but took a sudden intake of breath "what happened" tsutey shot up his eyes on me I shook my head "I'm ok I'm ok" I breathed out.
I grabbed his arm to help me sit up "i-i think the baby moved" I murmured my hand slowly felt around the area tsutey sat silently his breath hitched.
I gasped in delight as I felt it "here" I squealed grabbing tsuteys hand bringing it to my stomach he took in a breath his eyes staring at my stomach intently when he finally released his breath it was a shakey one.
"Their going to be a mighty hunter" he smiled showing off his teeth I giggled happily putting my hand over his feeling the baby's movement through his hand.
"Eywa has blessed us" he whispered leaning his head onto mine giving me small kisses and pecks all over my head whispering praises and prayers.
"They will grow mighty and beautiful just like their mother" I bit my lip blushing from his words and turned my head away to embarrassed to look at him.
But he slowly raised his hand to turn my face to his, his lip connecting with mine we kissed in till we were both breathless but even then he kept his face closer.
"I want this to last forever, I want to raise a family with you, to cherish you and to love you for eternity"

before pandora
you were born on a dying planet. your mother was a scientist and researcher. then your mother got accepted to go to pandora for the avatar program. she was so excited but she knew she couldn’t take you with her at that point. instead of letting her feel guilty, you only encouraged her to go.
five years later in the year 2150, you were actually able to make some progress with your mother’s work. you had gathered a research team and some military protection to be able to go over to the amazon rainforest and protect what was left of it. for two years you were able to keep life there protected, that is until all of it was destroyed. deforestation. you were surrounded by fire and destruction, running to get to safety as the rainforest died around you. all of your hard work, all of your mother’s work was gone just like that. and you were helpless, you couldn’t do anything about it.
around the same time, you had been approached by a few rda agents. they were recruiting you to go to pandora since you were the best option they had to continue your mother’s work there. but that only confused you.
“i don’t understand.” you frowned at them, heart racing. “my mother went to pandora to start her new research there. why do you need me to continue it…”
the answer dawned on you before the agents told you. you mother had died on pandora. and because of this, you were the only one who could understand her work which is why the rda agents came for you. this opportunity was all you had left to continue your mother’s legacy and work. so you agreed to go to pandora.
getting to pandora
it was 2155 when you came out of cryosleep. you were then led onto a ship that flew you down to the planet. only the ship was nearly shot down by the na’vi and you experienced quite the rough landing.. once it did land and the ship opened, you were met with multiple na’vi surrounding the ship, bows pointed at you, even some of them had guns much to your surprise.
that was when you met tsu’tey and jake sully. tsu’tey was the olo’eyktan while jake was toruk makto. the former was wary of your arrival and immediately wanted to either kill you or send you back.
“we need her!” one of the humans, norm spellman, argued for you. “please, she’s of no danger to you. one of our doctors, dr. l/n sent her. you know her, right? dr. augustine’s friend! grace wanted her here too!” norm looked to jake pleadingly. “jake, help me out here!”
jake spoke to tsu’tey in a language you were unfamiliar with back then. the language of the na’vi people. jake then turned to norm and you, speaking in english. “put her in one of the cells at hells gate.”
“jake—“
“if we can find proof that she was sent by a doctor here, she has to stay in a place where she can be watched.” jake looked at you again, his face guarded. “if what your saying is true then there should be no problem, right?”
it took you a few seconds to realize that he had addressed you at that point. you nodded quickly, “yes, um, yeah.”
they had you placed in a holding cell at the abandoned hell’s gate for a couple of days. of course the humans there fed and clothed you. norm had then explained that a year prior the rda and the omatikaya clan had gone to war and the rda were exiled, so you coming a year later after all of that was seen as suspicious to the na’vi. now that you had some context, you then understood why your ship had been attacked. it also meant you had to be careful now that you were here. and it was best to keep to yourself and stay at your mother’s old lab in the forest. yes, that was a good plan at first.
too bad it didn’t stick.
when you meet
it wasn’t really difficult to stay in your own lane. you got used to using your avatar and were often wandering around the forest to study everything. at first the only people you interacted with were the other humans on the planet, which weren’t that much to begin with but you were content. mostly you were just getting used to the planet whilst also taking in the fact that your mother had died and you hadn’t been at her side when she did.
jake was the first one to approach you. since he knew what it felt like to be an outsider, he immediately tried to welcome and make you comfortable the best way he knew how. so often when he comes back from hunts, he’d stop by your lab to see you. one time he had spotted a really pretty plant and immediately thought of you. knowing that your job was to study the botany of pandora, he brought you to the plant. your smile was so big then, a part of him felt a pull toward you. whenever you smiled at him or laughed at his dumb jokes. jake couldn’t help but want to continue making you smile.
and you of course, always looked forward to him coming around, your heart fluttering every time you made physical contact with each other. whether it be the simple brush of fingers, you finding any excuse just to caress his face and him just wanting so desperately to kiss you. it was clear then that jake wanted you as another mate but he knew the other two wouldn’t accept her as he had, so in the beginning he buried his feelings for his and your sake.
“don’t look at me like that.” jake mumbled quietly, his forehead touching yours.
you frowned softly, “like what?”
he frowned sadly, “like you love me.”
but you did. and there was no stopping that.
neytiri had been watching you ever since jake had begun stopping by your lab after his hunts. she was wary about your arrival yet curious as to why jake kept going to you. she did think at first it was because the two of you had something in common but she discovered there was much more to that. tsu’tey of course waved it off in the beginning but she wasn’t too quick to let it go. so she herself started watching you. you had yet to notice her which annoyed neytiri a bit. if you were to be living in pandora, you must always be aware of your surroundings. you on the other hand just seemed to be in a whole different world. neytiri thought you would get eaten in less than a week.
but then again, your awed curiosity about the forest did draw her toward you. apart of her wanted to make herself known to you, just to show more to the forest than what you thought you had seen. plus she was drawn to your gentle spirit. and your innocence of your smile. neytiri soon began to understand why jake kept visiting you. a strange feeling bubbled in her stomach and she thought she was jealous at first.
one day she had to make herself known. especially when you were about to touch a dangerous plant.
“do not touch that.” she warned, surprising you.
you looked up in time to find her jumping down from the tree and landing in front of you. the na’vi woman gestured toward the plant, “it is poisonous. not meant to touch.”
“oh, sorry.” you backed away from the plant. your eyes then caught something on her leg, “hey, um, you have a cut there.”
she glanced down, not too bothered by it, “it’s nothing. just a scratch.”
you shake your head, “i can clean it a bit for you. you know, just so it won’t get infected.” before neytiri had a chance to protest you had already started walking toward a small pond, gesturing for her to follow. neytiri didn’t know why but she did. the two of you then knelt down next to the bond, you cup some water from it and brushed it against neytiri’s leg. “hmm, you're right, it’s just a scratch. not a lot of blood as it turns out.”
“i already said this.” neytiri grumbled but didn’t push your hands away.
you smiled up at her, “yeah, but it doesn’t hurt to check, right?”
neytiri realized then that it wasn’t jealousy she felt toward you. but instead it was a certain gentle fondness for you. one that always made it come back every day, similar to jake, just to see you and watch you work. some days she’d ask to join jake who was surprised by the request. you were happy to have her around as much as you loved having jake. it was comforting, being in neytiri’s presence. she was fierce but around you she was a lot more shy and comfortable with you. the both of you brought a sense of comfort and calm toward one another.
from then on, neytiri understood why jake kept coming back to you.
becoming one of the people
you understood what you had been missing the entire time you had been on pandora. even before coming here. and you decided that you would want to call this place your home and to do that, you would have to become like them. the na’vi. so you could be with them.
jake and neytiri were all for it and were the ones to help you. jake was the one to teach you how to hunt and how to choose and use your weapon. neytiri taught you the language—was a lot more patient with you than she was with jake—and showed you more of the forest, teaching you how to become one with it. how to understand it the na’vi way. the more time the three of you spent with each other, the more in love you had become.
of course, one last person had to be convinced.
tsu’tey
tsu’tey saw you making progress to become one of the people. and you saw him watching you. you knew he didn’t trust you. but since he was the clan leader of the omatikaya, you were quite determined to earn his trust. even jake and neytiri wanted him to accept you.
it was when you first tamed your ikran. you had fallen off your ikran mid-flight at first and jake had been the one to fly his own ikran down to catch you. he flew you back to the cliff.
“she’s done.” jake had said as you slid off his ikran. he said it more to neytiri than you. “that was too close!”
“she can handle it!” neytiri frowned. “the danger, the whole thing, is a part of it, ma’jake!”
“she nearly died!” jake protested.
“guys--”
“and so did you when you first tamed yours! why is now any different?!”
“you know why!”
“guys!” you shouted, drawing their attention back to you. you ran a hand through your hair and huffed, “first off, stop talking about me like i’m not standing right next to you! second, i love you both, but it’s my choice whether or not i decide to finish.”
jake tried protesting, “y/n--”
“jake.” you sighed and went to grab your ikran taming rope from off the ground. “let me do this. please.”
neytiri nodded while jake only frowned. that was when tsu’tey appeared, looking all smug, “you heard her, jakesully.” you roll your eyes as neytiri squeezed your arm encouragingly. “Let her continue to fall. it’ll only make her look more like a skxawng.”
“tsu’tey.” jake frowned but you only grinned.
“hey i know you’re tryna make fun of me right now, but it’s only encouraging me to do it again. so, thanks!” you smirked provokingly at him causing him to scowl at you.
“enough talk, demon girl.” tsu’tey stood before you despite neytiri trying to step in between you and get him to calm down. a part of it worked because she was his mate, but tsu’tey was still studying you, tilting his head with a mocking smirk. “go on. show me.”
you took the challenge much to jake’s dismay. neytiri supported you. but for some reason, you felt extra nervous with tsu’tey watching you. but you ignored it long enough to finally tame your ikran, this time without falling off. it felt amazing, your first ride on your ikran. jake and neytiri joined you on their own ikrans.
and surprisingly tsu’tey did as well. and instead of finding another scowl on his face, he instead wore a smirk. you grinned at him, tightening your hold on your ikran, “race me?”
tsu’tey rolled his eyes, “i don’t race—”
“slow poke!” you took off. tsu’tey blinked in surprise but immediately smirked competitively before taking off after you.
that was it. it wasn’t your smile—well, maybe it was a part of it—but it was how you loosened him up and made him have fun. for that moment he wasn’t thinking about his duty as the olo’eyktan. all he could think about is beating you in your race and allowing himself to have fun. with you of all people.
neytiri gave him a knowing smirk later on. he rolled his eyes at her, “be quiet you.”
“you love her too.”
tsu’tey didn’t respond then. because he knew the two had fallen for you. and because he knew he had fallen for you too. he tried really hard not to. really he did.
becoming mates
when all three of them realized they were in love with you and wanted you as their mates to join their family, they gave you room to realize it yourself without pushing you. fortunately for them, you already loved them and were just waiting for them to tell you. basically one of you had to come out and say it or else you would be miserable idiots in love.
you had been playing with baby neteyam when mo’at dragged jake, neytiri, and tsu’tey into the marui, surprising you.
“i’ve had enough of all your moping. all four of you!” mo’at huffed. you looked away flustered while the other three stood sheepishly. mo’at rolled her eyes and turned to you, “do you want them as your mates.”
you blushed but nodded, “yes, if only—”
“good.” mo’at turned to the three who were now staring at you in shock. “and you want her as your mate as well i assume?”
tsu’tey looked to you, “do you truly accept us?”
you smiled at them, “of course i do. i wouldn’t have anyone else be my dear mates.”
mo’at grumbled, mumbling about “children” before leaving the four of you alone. jake knelt down in front of you, caressing your cheek, “how come you didn’t say anything?”
“how come you didn’t?” you raised your brows.
“we did not want to push you.” neytiri said, holding your hand to her cheek. “but we’ve accepted you long ago.”
the four of you mated before eywa. and had been together since.
your relationship
the four of you were just so in love with each other. and all of you showed it in different ways. in public, you were a lot more subtle about showing your affection for each other. neytiri and jake loved flying together. jake and tsu’tey enjoyed hunting together. and neytiri and tsu’tey explored the forest together.
with you it wasn’t any different. neytiri and you loved spending time together in silence. the two of you were so comfortable with each other that sometimes you wouldn’t even have to talk whenever you were alone with each other. sometimes you’d lie in each other’s laps, neytiri would do your hair, and you would show her new plants you collected from the day. quality time was your love language.
with jake he was a lot more physically affectionate than the other too. he was this way with the other two and it wasn’t any different with you. he’d find a way to touch you both in public and in private. in public he’d always have his hand on the small of your back or squeezing the space between your neck and shoulder. in private he’s all over you, kissing any part of your body, and holding you in his arms.
tsu’tey loved just having fun with you. whether that be flying or exploring the forest together, he was always at peace with you and relaxed. anytime he was free from olo’eyktan duties, he would always try finding ways to spend time with you. he’s always smiling around you and saying sweet nothings to you. he enjoys your kisses and your touch, the both of you enjoyed both quality time and physical affection.
you were all so in love with each other. none of you could imagine living without each other.
all of you especially enjoyed spending time with neteyam, especially when you're all together. then kiri came along. all of you were adamant on adopting her. tsu’tey especially since he cared for her mother, grace. he saw kiri as his own just the same as you, jake, and neytiri did.
both jake and tsu’tey were such girl dads with kiri. and you were so excited to grow your family and finally start your new life in pandora.
you weren’t alone anymore. you had your mates and your children. and that’s all you needed in the end.

a little bit different! here u go (update: part 2 here!)
tsu'tey x courting season (part 1) ⋆。゚✧。⋆☾
Tumblr media
in which tsu'tey's teaching becomes a little too distracting *insert coy gasp here*
"look. up.", "forward", "still! still, stay." were the commonly repeated phrases uttered from a rather irritated tsu'tey; he'd been doing his utmost to teach you the ways in both stalking and hunting prey for the past few days, but the lack of recent improvement was beginning to rear its head.
what began as full strides to complete posture, correct technique and a rather impressive set of shots to some oblivious prey, had since morphed to wavering bow aims and fidgeting feet. tsu'tey's flattened ears, narrowed eyes and short, curt hisses through his sharp-fanged teeth did nothing but worsen the situation.
he'd not yet clocked just how much his behaviour influenced your ability to focus; perhaps due to the rather overt forms of mate-pairing within the omaticaya clan, but more likely the amount of sheer effort you'd been exerting in restricting your swishing tail, picked up breaths and lip-bites at his snarls and sighs--these should be inciting some element of fear, which they did, but unfortunately did little to qualm the ever-increasing arousal pooling in your lower abdomen.
"..aaaassshk! stop it. this is sloppy, water-like, like wet leaves. no. look straight." through gritted teeth he'd hissed the commands, his long nimble fingers swiftly restructuring your messy bow technique, then rearranging your shoulder and elbow to better aim at the small animal a few meters away. the necessity for virtually-silent signalling and language was abundant, yet his irritation at your lack of awareness and focus was enough to illicit some restrained hisses and bared fangs nonetheless.
straightening up, you lifted your chin, squinted your eyes, took a slow, deep breath, and let the arrow fly. whizzing past the foliage and thick, aged tree trunks surrounding you, it missed the shot by more than a few inches. had it not been for the multiple target hits yesterday, tsu'tey would have been much harsher; although his response to the failure remained strict and firm.
landing a sharp, stinging smack to your right cheek, you couldn't help but let the short gasp escape your lips; your eyes glossed over with small unshed tears, expression contorting into one of badly-masked shock and humiliation. all the while he snarled in exhasperation, "lost. this..no focus, it ends. today. i will not see it..more - yes?" he let out, eyes now baring into your wide shiny orbs; his expression never softened, only seeking out your response, a meek "..yes." leaving your mouth as you cast your eyes to the ground in shame.
he only let up after seeing the plumes of rose staining your blue cheeks; eyebrows woven into a straight line, bottom lip bitten in some strange mix of embarrassment, and something he couldn't quite place. the only tell-tale sign of a conflicting emotion being the brightly glowing dots littering your skin; most commonly associated with arousal--but tsu'tey's disappointment in your lack of focus on the task at hand overshadowed any intrigue at your murky expression.
you, on the other hand, had been doing your utmost to ignore the rising heat burning in your stomach; the once small spark of arousal having almost burst into a flame of need from his harsh words and stinging touch. the burn of his hard smack to your face still rippled through your body, reaching your lightly throbbing pussy in lighting speed.
not only had tsu'tey been closely instructing you, but so as to avoid scaring off the small prey, he'd been whispering. and not only whispering, but whispering up close. his soft beads and coarse braids gently dangling against your exposed neck and collarbone; hot, sharp breath fanning against your skin; humiliatingly curt instructions doing nothing but further distracting you.
he'd not noticed, but you'd been biting your lip to qualm any questionable sounds that may escape--the wetness was slicking up your folds, you could feel it. every time tsu'tey rearranged your posture, using one of his long toned legs to push yours closer together, you could feel the slight squelch of your sticky juices sliding all the way from your swollen bud to your clenching entrance; surely he noticed the squirming? the eyes cast down, the blush painting its way across your face? his hard expression never ceased, so likely not.
but as he continued waiting for another slinth to cross your path, posture almost marble-like in its stillness, head high, ears up, listening for any movements, you felt the increasing arousal begin to spread without any means of stopping it. the silence and stillness only exacerbated the shame you felt from your body's response; such an inopportune moment, and were he to find out he likely would cease all hunting practice entirely.
yet the prospect of being caught out, and the humiliation of the situation made your nipples perk up, heartbeat quicken and slickness begin to drip down your thighs; heat-infused panic rippling through your entire body, as the hot musk of your potent arousal began to fill your nostrils. if you could smell your own essence, there was little likelihood that it hadn't reached his keen senses too - this only being confirmed by the quick shift in tsu'tey's demeanor.
his straight back and focused, observant eyes had since widened in confusion; barely enough to give away his full mental process, but paired with his ears now swiveled away from the lush forest above you and instead to your shaky form, it seemed that tsu'tey had since caught on to the real reason you were having such trouble. his eyes briefly met yours, only to confidently cast downwards to your cloth-covered mound; his lack of awkwardness or insecurity about the matter only made you squish your thighs together more, and soon enough he'd relaxed his posture and pursed his lips.
leaning down closer to your figure, you couldn't quite make out what he was doing until you dared look up at him; he was smelling you. his eyes were still dead-set on your pussy, but he'd began to take keen sniffs of the air between the two of you as his tail-tip lightly batted against the forest floor.
the only betrayal of tsu'tey's intrigue being the light huff and hum he let out as he took one last smell of the thick, murky scent of your arousal, announcing curtly "...you..are in heat.", lifting two muscled blue arms up to untie his constricted braids, the thick dark locks soon cascaded around his wide shoulders. he'd then began to undo the knots on his loincloth, eyes still taking in your form as he soon rid himself of the remaining material--"take it off..get on your knees."
part 2? :)
