Maybe it’s because in the years since R&B we gotten so many retelling of Dick’s origins even in mentioning or heck just bringing up the previous versions of it like Batman Year Three and Robin Year One, R&B just gets buried and overshadowed by all of it
Yeah, I'm used to referring to those older comics for Robin Dick, it's more instinctual. Robin & Batman only came out 3 years ago, and no one ever really asks about it, so I haven't had a reason to revisit it as much as other stories.
I don't know why but I feel resistance in my brain even thinking about trying to compare Dick's loneliness in it to Dick's loneliness in Robin Annual #4 for example. Or even Bruce's concerning behavior between Year Three, RYO, and R&B. Although, that's not necessarily fair because Bruce's behavior in Year Three is more attributed to the situation with Jason whereas RYO Bruce and R&B Bruce have concerning behaviors in regard to Dick. Dick still has to deal with said concerning behaviors in Year Three though so (but as Nightwing).
Ugh gah now my brain is making comparisons between Bruce's reaction to Dick's near death experience in RYO vs. how he reacted in R&B. Because the situation is actually similar when you think about it. In RYO, Bruce and Judge Watkins are tied up. In R&B, Bruce is tied up. Bruce can't do anything. Has to watch Dick get beat with a bat. Has to watch Dick drown. Only difference is that RYO Bruce has to save Dick, and R&B Dick saves himself by stabbing a knife into Waylon's forehead. So R&B Bruce doesn't have that same trauma as RYO Bruce.
RYO Dick lost Robin because of his situation while R&B Dick got hugged and praised for his situation. Interesting. Veryyy interesting.

Attention DickKory Family/Flying Graysons 2.0 fans,
You think Dick ever told Mar’i and Jake about how right before moving into stately Wayne Manor with Bruce and Alfred, he was moved to a Youth Center/Juvenile Detention Center because supposedly there wasn’t enough room in Gotham’s orphanages; and in there, he faced a really unwelcome and hostile environment filled with delinquents and bullies whom he had to fight off against and he later tried escaping?
If yes, how do you think the kids would’ve responded to that little bit of their Dad’s history?

Hi! I haven't been reading dc comics for a hot minute, so I can't totally remember what's canon and what's fanon. Was Dick Grayson being a menace of a child a thing in comics or is it something fandom came up with?
Dick Grayson was absolutely a menace as a child. He ran away and joined something called the vengeance academy for assassins, like this is canon. Bruce let him become Robin to tame him because he was out at night trying to catch his parent's killer by himself. He also used to be allowed to be a menace as an adult (see outsiders) but current and later runs have tamed him and made him more of a golden boy.
I definitely recommend reading Robin Year One for some feral Dick as Robin content.
@bigskydreaming knows more on this than I do also 💙🩵🖤

So from what you can gather from fellow Dick Grayson fans, what exactly made Robin Year One by Dixon, Scott Beatty and artist Javier Pulido a fan favorite despite its flaws, especially in hindsight?
I'm not sure. Personally, I like it a lot better than the Robin Annual # 4, but it's not a huge favourite.
Maybe people just like the huge angst factor... We have an excess of blunt trauma, a Bruce that can't handle Dick getting hurt, Dick feeling that he doesn't have a place in Bruce's life when he can't be Robin, and Alfred worrying. It has become very influential, at least with fanfic writers; I don't recall other DC writers alluding to Dick running away or nearly being beaten to death by Two-Face a whole lot.
An interesting detail is that Robin Year One was published several years later than Robin vol 4 # 0 and Batman Prodigal, where Dick's fateful meeting with Two-Face is first mentioned (also written by Chuck Dixon). So I guess Robin Year One was just a way to contextualise that scene.

"Dickie! It's okay, Little Robin. Mommy's got you. You were trying to fly so high like mommy and daddy, hnh?... I call you Robin because you came to us on the first day of spring. I didn't know you'd want to be a little bird."
