・ルーマニアの代表的な主食の一つ。トウモロコシの粉を炊いたもので、チーズやサワークリーム、肉料理と一緒に食べます。かつてはパンの代用として農民たちの間で親しまれた歴史があり、女性はママリガが作れてこそ一人前であるといわれています。ルーマニアを舞台に書かれた小説『吸血鬼ドラキュラ』(1897年)にも、ママリガが登場しているのだとか。

if you don't know what mamaliga is or how to try it, it's super simple: put 1 cup of water to 1/4 of cornmeal in a saucepan and heat on stove until boiling / desired consistency. Serve with cottage cheese and/or shredded cheese stirred in.
I grew up on it and I think it is the most delicious comfort food! but people in my family who did not grow up eating it and were introduced to it later in life call it disgusting. I want to know how universal this phenomenon is with this specific food!

warm food for a chill day
basically polenta, but with pureed sweet corn and cooked carrots added, and lots of paprika (both sweet and sharp kinds), onion powder and a little salt and drizzle of honey.
