Persona 5 Royal. Credit: Atlus
Summary
Persona 5 Royal, the enhanced version of the critically acclaimed Persona 5, is a fantastic addition to the Nintendo Switch library.
One of the biggest draws of the game is its captivating story, which follows a group of high school students as they navigate the complexities of adolescence while also fighting to change the corrupt hearts of adults in society. The characters are well-developed and relatable, and players will find themselves fully invested in their struggles and triumphs.
In terms of gameplay, Persona 5 Royal offers a satisfying blend of turn-based combat and life simulation elements. Players will spend their days going to school and building relationships with other characters, which in turn will help them in battle. The game also features a deep and engaging metaverse, where players will explore palaces and fight bosses in order to change the hearts of corrupt individuals in the real world.
The game also features new content such as new characters, new social events and also new areas to explore.
One of the standout features of Persona 5 Royal is its stylish presentation. The game features a vibrant and colorful art style, accompanied by an unforgettable soundtrack that will stick with players long after they've finished the game.
Overall, Persona 5 Royal is a must-play for fans of the series and newcomers alike. It offers a compelling story, engaging gameplay, and a unique blend of life simulation and turn-based combat elements. The Nintendo Switch version is a great way to experience the game and is a perfect fit for both handheld and docked play. If you're looking for a game that will keep you engaged for hours on end, Persona 5 Royal is the game for you.
Personal Experience
I played the OG Persona 5 on PlayStation 4 a few years back and it proved to be one of my favorite games of all time. Being a long term JRPG fan who cut his teeth on games such as Final Fantasy 2 and EarthBound on the SNES, Persona 5 really resonated with me. That, and all to social simulation flash games I played growing up, created a strong sense of nostalgia despite the game being brand new to me.
When Royal came out on PlayStation 4, I skipped out on it. I spent over 120 hours on my play through of Persona 5 and thinking of getting back into it was a bit daunting. Not to mention the myriad other games that were calling my name.
In the meantime I’ve played quite a variety of games, including a few others fomr the Shin Megami Tensei series. I had played a bit of Persona 3 Portable, finished Shin Megami Tensei 5 (another 100+ adventure) and played the hell out of the MegaTen mobile game Dx2. By the time Royal was announced for the Switch, I was ready to start my metaphysical, high school themed adventure again.
Things have changed in my life a bit since I first played Persona 5. I work a fulltime job, I have a house, and a toddler. It’s not always possible for me to sit in front of the TV playing a game. That is where the Switch comes in clutch. The fact that it is handheld and has its own screen means I can get some game time in, even when the TV is in use. It’s a game changer (pun intended).
I’m still working my way through the my first play through of Royal. I just finished the 5th palace, and getting close to clocking 80 hours. I’m just taking my time with the game, as instructed. The improvements and changes to the game have certainly kept things fresh, and I am having a really enjoyable time.
I’m undecided on whether or not I’ll do the New Game Plus when I finish. Of course I want to, but there is an entire catalogue of games in my back log, and Zelda Tears of the Kingdom will be out before long, so who knows what will capture my attention after I finish with my friends, that Phantom Thieves of Hearts. There are just too many great games, and not enough time for them all.

Balatro Review: I Bet You Can't Put It Down
If you pick Balatro up on the strength of my unmitigated recommendation, feel free to curse my name when you can't stop playing.
Developer LocalThunk • Publisher Playstack • Release February 20 • Reviewed On PC
Come forth and bask in the glow of victory! After about seven hours, I’ve won a run of the poker roguelike so enthralling it should come with a warning, Balatro. Given it’s replayable nature, I’m going to call that finishing the game. And honestly, I’m almost afraid to recommend it because, once you start playing,…

part 2 of Zoro in WCI
01 02
I tried to write something to sum up my thoughts on this, but then it got longer and longer and tbh I'm itching to write a fic set in this AU djjdkf I think I could develop on their inner feelings more than in the comic form
Before posting the first part I didn't realize people had such strong opinions on how this would play out lmaooo
imo, of course Zoro wants to fight Sanji, not with actual intent to harm (they threaten each other on the daily, come on), but because that's how they are together, how they communicate. He respects Luffy's decisions and their goal here, which is to learn what's really going on with Sanji, but he's gonna be pissy about it all he wants. They both have so many intense and conflicted feelings about this and neither has any idea how to resolve them. So they fight.
ofc yall are free to headcanon this interaction any other way you want <333

in baldur's gate 3 if you play someone who was raised in baldurs gate, they will know about the city's history and recognize some of the villains as people who supposedly died ~100 years ago, which is very funny to me. like imagine your city is being invaded by aliens and you try to get to the bottom of it, and you find out jack the ripper, the unibomber, and that guy you remember seeing on the news who held up a bank for 72 hours have all teamed up in a super secret satan club. also the first mayor of your city from back in colonial times is still alive and wants to fuck you.
