HEADCANON/JUST TALKING ABOUT: WHISPER AND SMALL SPACES

I wanted to make this a sad/interesting headcanon but it’s technically canon. I still want to talk about it though since it was mentioned a few times (twice or thrice in the anime and once in the game series iirc) and I find it...curious.

It’s been said/shown multiple times in canon that Whisper feels “nostalgic” in small, enclosed places due to said places reminding him for his time in the Crank-a-kai. Honestly, I would’ve expected the opposite since it must have NOT been comfortable but what do I know? Maybe his own softness and lack of bones made it not as bad? He did say in a train conversation in YW2 that it was actually not too bad with it never being too hot or cold in there. Maybe it felt more like a capsule in a capsule hotel to him than a Yo-kai prison created by monks.

Despite him being filled with nostalgia whenever he gets shoved into something, he still doesn’t seem to enjoy being forced into places like this.

The end of EP168 with Tie-red also showed this very well with said Yo-kai caused him to be homesick enough to go back to the gashapon (He returned to Nate sometime before the next episode so he must have a way to worm himself in and out of there.). It fills me with sadness that he doesn’t feel at home with Nate in his room by this point of the anime. He must’ve stayed there for at least a year or two by this episode.

...though this makes me wonder: since he calls it his home multiple times, does he return there every once in a while for some reason? Just to stay there by his lonesome? I’m honestly not sure at this point and I’ll have to ponder about this on my own time.

//Hey so I’ve recently been seeing quite a bit of hatred towards the OG and YW! series with their...brand of humor. I personally love it (to a point) while having less interest in the more serious in design SS or high school slice-of-life look of Y-Academy and respect you still if you don’t share my opinion. All I ask is to not shove SS or Y-Academy down my throat and berate me for not enjoying them the most.
