For the trans Trixie anon, they should look into Dora Richter and the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft, which was a progressive research institute for gender and sexuality in the Weimar Republic during the 1920s. For more USAmerican examples of trans people in the early-mid 20th century: Lucy Hicks Anderson, Alan L. Hart, Billy Tipton, and of course, Christine Jorgensen.

I'm not sure if this was asked but what are Trixie and Starlight's sexuality?
Also is everyone in the AU queer?
In the AU, Trixie and Starlight are both lesbians. Sunburst is bisexual.
Bix and I are queer artists and enjoy researching and implementing queer culture into our works, so it’s right to assume most of the characters we work with are queer.

as someone who's trans, trixie being a tgirl and from the 1920's made me question something. I'm pretty sure that gender affirming care wasn't really a thing at the time (if it was, it wasn't very predominant or accesible to the general public), so that would mean that Trixie's non-op right? If yes, how does that exactly affects her apperance? is her voice a little lower? would she require to constantly shave? (sorry for the questions lol, i'm a very curious gal)
I sorta approach the AU's version of the 1920s as a light fantasy where queer people are a lot more accepted, cause we're working with a lot of queer themes and its just gonna be a huge bummer bringing in homophobia/transphobia into a fun fan-reimagining of a children's show. I'm saving the more horrible parts of the 20s-30s for my more adult-oriented personal story.
However I did consider the detail that gender affirming care wasn't readily available or safe at the time, so I definitely intended Trixie to be non op. Appearance wise, I see her as very femme, so she shaves, wears makeup, and keeps up with trends that a typical woman in the 20s would have enjoyed. I still imagine her with the voice she has in the show.

The kids were pretty scared when the ride started, and once it was over, they were more worried about Bix and looked to see if he was ok. It was very funny hehe

Hi! Frothing at the mouth over your human Rara designs (they’re GORGEOUS), may I ask where you get your 1920’s fashion references from? As someone also drafting up a story set in that time period I would love to know where you get inspired to make such beautiful outfits 🥺
For Rara's sheet, I used a mixture of references from Singin' in the Rain and fashion magazines available through google. I always like putting a bit of anachronism in fashion drawings, cause it's fun and easier to personalize outfits for the characters. It's important to research with both history and personality in mind.
Singin' in the Rain was the perfect place to reference for Rara especially, because the movie is full of amazing and creative 1920s inspired costuming with the theme of the glamour of Old Hollywood theater. I was thinking a lot of the character Lina when designing Rara, because she's a really fun caricature of a high class American actress.

i love love love your designs for starlight, trixie, and sunburst, and pre-redemption starlight is catching my eye atm— the straight cut bangs w/ all the horizontal lines in the dress and coat cuffs is 🤌
had to give love to the subtle show of the equal signs + a lot of it disappearing in her post-redemption (barring the belt, cuz she does still keep some minor traits to keep her character in tact while giving so ok he fun n negative traits to play with)
They are my absolute favorites to draw and it makes me really happy that you noticed all the little details I put into Starlight's design hehe <3
