On this day, 34 years ago... we lost a great man, a creative genius, and a wiz at puppetry, the GREAT Jim Henson...
We, at "The Cartoon CARTOON Show" salute Jim for all the amazing work he's done in his young life, from his start at a local television station in Washington D.C., to the creation of The Muppets, who have inspired many puppeteers across the globe.
And while some of his work has been seen on Cartoon Network on rare occasions, like a recent airing of the live-action Ninja Turtles movies (*to which he helped create the animatronic suits for the films), his legacy will always leave a lasting impact on our lives, especially ours.
But why does this little green frog from the "Adventure Time" stop-motion episode, "Bad Jubies" kinda remind me of someone...?
Let us know in the comments what you like about Jim Henson and his many fuzzy and furry creations.
I feel like you can't use the name Kermit in fiction anymore because it is inextricably linked to the Muppet, but I would absolutely love for there to be a little crab character named Kermit the Hermit. I mean, i guess I could go with Dermot (Kermit literally means "son of Dermot," so they're linked), but Dermot just doesn't sound as fun to me.
It's been 34 years since Jim Henson's passing, yet all that he did ,his most beautiful art and his desire to spread joy , still remain in this world, believe it or not. I can say with certainty that he continues to inspire generations. He has inspired me, and he will keep inspiring me to reach for my greatest dreams and to see the best that life has to offer.
I am so grateful to him for all the zest for life and the dreams he has given me. And, God, I don't know how to express what I truly feel, the depth of emotions this brings me. That's why today I wanted to express my deepest gratitude to Jim Henson with a drawing, for never stopping creating or dreaming.
I've slowly been chipping away at drawing scenes from that imaginary Muppet retelling of the Princess Bride, figured it was about time to share what I've drawn on Tumblr!
when gerard way sings "the broken, the beaten, and the damned" and when kermit the frog sings "the lovers, the dreamers, and me" they're talking about the same people btw
