Ok, there were lots of votes for fuzzy (tomorrow, I promise), but I was inspired by @cccshutdown requesting "bring me the Longest beast you know" to post this ginormous female dobsonfly we found at the lights a couple of weeks ago. She is Eastern Dobsonfly (Corydalus cornutus), she is Megaloptera, and she is FIERCE!!

Born on this day: African American rhythm and blues nightclub chanteuse and transgender pioneer Jackie Shane (15 May 1940 – 21 February 2019). The regal and enigmatic soul diva (who often looked and sounded like a fierce hybrid of Little Richard and Eartha Kitt) originally hailed from Nashville, Tennessee but had to relocate to Canada to find acclaim and acceptance in her adopted city of Toronto, Ontario. Disillusioned with the music industry, by the early 70s Shane retired and vanished so completely off the radar she was widely assumed to be dead. Luckily, Shane lived long enough to be re-discovered and embraced by a new generation of admirers as a LGBTQ icon and for her long out-of-print recorded work to be compiled and reissued on CD. (You can listen to the 2017 album Any Other Way on Spotify – and I highly recommend you do!).

My November is sweet.

That beautiful song which was recently deleted from YouTube... As I was searching for it, I lost hope and felt sad that I could no longer find it. It felt like a lover was gone, and only memories of it, the melody, were left in my mind. Then, to my surprise, I found it in my downloads folder. I never thought I had downloaded it, so I reuploaded it for others like me who were also searching for it. Using the same title, image content, and quality music, I shared it again. People began commenting, thanking me for uploading the music. My heart melted; at that moment, I knew they loved the song as much as I did.

And that's why, my November is sweet.

Fierce, a Steve/Bucky fantasy AU

Bucky enjoyed his life, travelling from town to town, making a living from his minor magic. He’d been following the same route for a few years and hadn’t expected much to come of changing his routine.

He sure hadn’t expected the short, skinny blond to plant himself in his path as he walked into Briartown, give him the coldest glare out of the bluest eyes he’d ever seen, and say, "I know you're following me. It stops now." He glanced at Bucky's metal arm before glaring straight into his eyes. "Whatever you want I'm not gonna give it to you. So go back to whoever you came from and leave me alone." He paused, clearly waiting for a response, but Bucky had nothing and the guy turned on his heel and walked away.

Bucky stared after him. Baffled. He felt like he should be angry, maybe, being accused of something he hadn't done, but he was too damn confused to get there.

In which Bucky meets Steve and Steve meets Bucky and magic happens.
