My brain literally would not let me rest until I got this out of my system, so here we are.
Okay, so - Future Donnie's canon design sure is a thing.
I actually love the concept, mechanic aesthetic is great for Don, but I'm not crazy about the all-black waders/overalls they're just...they're a choice. Definitely a choice.
So I figured it was time to update those old Future Donnie designs I made awhile back (which, surprisingly, weren't too far-off? I got the pants pockets right at least, lol)
Here are some of my own takes on the new look.
I challenged myself to try and stay as close to the canon design's over-all (haha) vibe as I could, so they don't differ too drastically. Just a few alternative ways to do basically the same concept. For funsies.
***Zero disrespect intended towards Andy, for the record. He's giving us the content we've all been craving and he's the realest one for that!
(Also, the overalls aren't that bad, tbh? I think it's just the all-black inking that makes them look kinda off in the preview image.) Still super excited for the full comic to finally be released AAAAAAAA!!

🍯Beelzebub Redesign🐝
Since Viv didn’t do her justice or make her fat I decided to do it myself.I made her orange and yellow because pink and blue doesn’t suit her at all also they did she make her a furry???Like isn’t she a bug??? I decided to make her have a skull wings and a suit because who gave her some horrendous clothes that doesn’t make sense? She would be more like her biblically accurate looks,a bee,a hornet and a honeypot ant. Also her markings look like a sticky honey.Her proboscis is shaped like a butterfly,a mandible and a stripes like a bee. I really hate her OG design when she’s revealed,why did she choose the worse combination species???
I make her more accurate party girl vibes bc my Mom always goes out with a fancy dress and make up a lot when I was young and made her bracelet look like a bee hive. Make her based off the muse from Hercules Disney movie and Regina George personality from Mean girls or G1 Cleo from monster high.Also added some tiny crown because it shows that she’s loyalty.Why Viv makes so many skinny people when she is fat herself?Orange represents her Gluttony because Gluttony is orange.The lava lamp honey hair mow hawk and tail confused me when I looked at it also why fennec fox?? Also the choker is a yikes.Also those weird V symbols on her head is weird.

My two favorite things!! RWBY and Sakura! Thanks @thanatos-nightshade .
As much as gauntlets similar to Yang's could fit her beautifully, I just can't seem let go of Sakura using her big ass axes! I also imagined her semblance being "Healing", but she only figures it out later on and all throughout the academy years she'd try to compensate her lack of skill by using these huge exaggerated weapons - little did anyone realize that her abnormal strength to use said weapons was already her own body healing itself as she overexerted her muscles beyond its limits.

It's Dani! I like redesigning characters sue me
I really wanted her design to have more visual indications of her instability, cause I imagine having a ghost half that is constantly in a state of breaking down would have some effects on her human half as well. Like her core is trying to stabilize itself and causes a sort of infection by trying to use the energy from her human half which inadvertently throws things off balance even more.
Thoughts on each design past the break
Human half: I wanted it to be obvious at first glance that she's not quite right or put together, so parts of her hair is white, and one of her eyes has turned green. I also thought it would be cool if her human form constantly has that red-pupil camera effect since it has a bit of a creepy connotation. I also added some skin discoloration/scars, and carried over the ears and fangs from her ghost form. Another very small detail I added was having her shoelaces untied to further make her appear unkempt/unstable.
Ghost half: Her human half doesn't affect her ghost half as much as the opposite, but her eyes with the black sclera is blue rather than green, I basically just switched the herochromia. Her skin should be a more vibrant blue/green in good health, rather than the uneven dull green caused by her instability, and of course the splotches of human skin tone shouldn't be there. For her ghost costume, I wanted it to seem more like a transformation of the clothes she already wears (hoodie, big pants, gloves, sneakers) since she didn't have a hazmat portal incident like Danny. I felt like pushing her asymmetrical design and making it a bit messy/unrefined would also be a good visual que to her instability. And lastly, I just really wanted to get rid of the crop-top, wide hip, lipstick, & eyeliner thing from the original bc that comes across as weird to me since she's supposed to be like 12.
