If anyone wondered where I've been: I've been dog sitting at my parents house and am closing in on finishing the outline for AEIWAM so I can start posting.

Today's highlight was "I guess what I'm really asking is: what's everyone going to therapy for, and what does the solution to that particular issue look like if physicalized into a weapon or tool?"

okay. i have finally finished my rewatch and i think i've finally made sense of my thoughts vis a vis ted and jamie's relationship.

i think it's very interesting that the exact moment ted pulls away from being directly involved in jamie's development is when he realizes that what jamie needs is a father. like in season one and arguably the first half of season two he is very hands on in trying to get jamie to realize his potential/the error of his ways but like. things are noticeably different after he sees him and james through the door, and then after wembley they do not really interact again in a meaningful way until mom city. roy literally picks it up as ted sets it down, like. he can't be what jamie needs he doesn't Want to, he can barely even handle what he feels for henry like we see in mom city, he's not picking up a bonus son you know

i really do think it's a very interesting way to handle their relationship specifically. they're so so intertwined in their character arcs and they're constantly setting each other's off but they can't really meet in the middle because ted can't/won't connect with him on that level. they're a son without a father and a father without a son and they can't click into that relationship because ted pulls away from him the minute it becomes clear that's what jamie needs, and we see it come full circle and see why in his monologue during mom city

To be honest, I only like Fake Peppino being portrayed as recognizably "animalistic" in short spurts, and even then only really when 1) it makes him more unsettling 2) it's funny. The idea of him being an extremely uncanny horror abomination who's obsessively trying to emulate a specific human person (and failing, mostly obliviously) is much more interesting in terms of potential character depth and exploration, IMO.

so - i do like the 2023 pick much more than the 2022 pick. 2022 dog had a super extreme/overdone coat, just a ton of bulk. some of that can be attributed to the fact that he's a male while the 2023 collie is female, but a lot of it is just what they bred for. as the 22 dog was doing his lap the commentators stating how the coat should be weatherproof and shouldn't obscure the outline of the dog at all, which was like... are you purposefully saying this for the dissonance or are you implying that this is true. ick.

i put the 3rd dog in there as an example of the difference between american and british types. part of it is grooming - american dogs will be very thoroughly bathed and brushed out, while british dogs are supposed to look more natural (which also leads to breeding for loads and loads of coat to achieve volume, whereas american dogs just get backbrushed for the same effect). just look at the difference in the mass of the hair on the rear legs! but i think you can also very clearly see the difference in the faces as well, especially between the two sable dogs! british dogs have a shorter muzzle, more pronounced stop, higher forehead, and much more slanted, fox-like eyes. american dogs have a longer and more wedge-shaped head with small, almond-shaped eyes. they also tend to be a bit larger.

anyway, i liked this years crufts girl, not anything super unique though. i mostly just hope the OES doesnt win bc i hate wet shaggy dog faces.

There's a difference between teaching "stand" with a nose touch and teaching "stand" by bopping your dog in the nose so they recoil and stop moving and I'd really like people to notice and adjust accordingly.

I am finally watching season 5 lmfao. I didn't want to because the first half is boring to me. I really don't care about class B. I only care about a handful of the class A kids and Shinsou is cool, he's part of 1A to me since i started watching the series. Anyway, reading the class 1A vs class 1B battles is a different experience from watching them animated. It should be more exciting because it's in motion, but I think because I read the chapters wayyy back in like ??? 2019, after season 5 hit 2 years later, I was like okay. My best friend had to SIT ME DOWN to watch the first 7 episodes because I couldn't commit to the series. So now I have committed myself to watch an episode a day and I'm finally on season 5. So I'm watching each episode slowly and I'm enjoying them because they're 24 minutes long and then it's over. The thing I love about this season is the OP, we get Izuku and Shouto having a full conversation while everyone else is just stretching or whatever. Nobody else matters except these 2 angels. No little glances from other characters compare to the full conversation they are having LMFAO. Best thing in that part of the season. I am watching for black whip and Izuku and Shouto talking after the battles. And both their battles. But that's really it. One of the things that bothers me is that none of the recommendation students won their battles. They either lost or ended with a draw (?) I think, which is so stupid because they're supposed to be better than the others yet they don't win. Bullshit. Horikoshi just hates women and doesn't want Shouto to win. Momo and Setsuna should have won. I can handle Mud man losing, he's not my favorite. Like you can't have Shouto hype up Momo and have her LOSE. Horikoshi what's that even about??? What was the POINT? Hype her up to WIN. Prove Shouto's point that she's excellent. And then he has Shouto reaching these insane temperatures ....for his battle to be a draw. WOW. AMAZING. That's so anticlimactic. He could have 3 class 1A groups win in a row, and then have Bakugou lose, that would have been interesting. Humble him more. And then have Izuku win, that was good. No complaints about him. He even got black whip. I'm ignoring everything else that happened in that fight, but black whip was cool (I love that quirk, leave me ALONE). Idc if his favoritism for class 1A would have shown, I wanted my kids to win. They got hyped and did not get rewarded. Don't hype them up then! Or put them in the same team so they can ALL win at the same time IDK. He could have taken so many directions with this arc. I just think it sucks. It's salvaged, in my opinion, by the individual characters and what they bring to the table, Shinsou does a great job, the OP giving me crumbs, Momo, Shouto, and Izuku looking really cool, black whip, and the talk between my favorite boys. I'm not hate watching, I'm honestly watching because I want to know what's going on, since it's been YEARS after I read the manga and also years since I watched the 7 episodes I watched with my bestie before I went to do my master's. I really am interested. I just think the arc, to me, is boring.

Y'know I really wish I knew more furries/otherkin personally. Like some of my friends are furries, but to my knowledge no one I know is otherkin, and I just wish I had someone like this around me. Maybe someone I know online is, but idk. My best friend who I love more than anything is a human and I mentioned to her a few times that I kinda vibe with the therian label, but I never went too deep into that. Honestly I'm just too embarrassed to talk about it with her, and that's the main reason why I go to Tumblr to talk about that.
