"Every scrap of paper was gone, and with it all my notes, my memoranda, relating to railways and travel, my letter of credit, in fact all that might be useful to me were I once outside the castle."
Dracula is really a master of psychological abuse - on the one hand he reinforces the bars of his prison, on the other hand he lets Jonathan feel his power even more because he dared to fight and so his hopes get crushed in a most cruel way.
Once again, this day by day-approach makes this entry bone-chilling.

There, it is all out, Mina, we have told all our secrets to each other since we were children. We have slept together and eaten together, and laughed and cried together, and now, though I have spoken, I would like to speak more.
Oh, Mina, couldn’t you guess? I LOVE HIM!
-Lucy Westenra, May 11th
More dumb little sketches, how fancy!
She’s just so adorable, I love Lucy so much. I can imagine her writing so fast at that last part, her letter sounds so excited

Jonathan Harker is the only wifeguy that's actually a wifeguy. if you took a shot every time he mentions Mina you'd be out before getting halfway through the book... he's obsessed with her and I love him for it

Man these days of nothing only broken up by short entries of Jonathan going ‘more terrible stuff happening’ are so harrowing. He didn’t even write down any theories about when the Count took his things or what he might use them for; it’s like he’s purposely not dwelling on the bad stuff, just noting them down for posterity/to retain his sanity.
He’s given up on documenting anything but the unusual-for-this-situation while he waits for any chance to plan an escape. Maybe he even restricts himself to writing down only that which directly affects his means of escape… What use is anything else now?

I'm catching up on Dracula today and in Lucy's entry on May 24th the line jumped out to me that she's turning 20 in September.
In. September.
How did I never notice that before?

The suit in which I had travelled was gone, and also my overcoat and rug; I could find no trace of them anywhere. This looked like some new scheme of villainy...
It's understandably not a priority for Jonathan right now relative to all the other implications of the theft, but a suit in 1888 cost £2 and an overcoat £1 15s. I'd guess the rug (a travelling rug) is cheaper but probably at least 5s. So Dracula has taken clothing worth about £4 from Jonathan, equivalent to hundreds of pounds today.
