The Good Ones
To myself and to you:
Let go of your need to be One Of The Good Ones. The world will not end if you find out that, despite your best intentions, you haven’t been. Keep listening. Be willing to adjust how you act according to new information. Never assume that your good intentions protect you from accountability. Never assume that you have landed solidly in The Land Of The Good Ones, even if someone else tells you that you have. No such land exists. Keep growing forever. Which requires that you take as a given that you’re always smaller than you could be, and that’s okay. You’re gonna screw up. Apologize when necessary but don’t make your apology someone else’s burden, forcing someone else to comfort you for your guilt. Move forward. It’s okay.

Trans day of visibility
Today is trans day of visibility, so I would like to post a few reminders:
*Trans people need support all year long. *This holiday is to celebrate trans people. *Trans people are wonderful. *Outing people without consent? DON’T! *Appreciate trans people for who we are. *Remember that we are human beings. *A trans person being an asshole, although that needs to be called out, is no excuse for misgendering or deadnaming someone. *There’s no excuse for misgendering or deadnaming, except if the trans person is closeted and not ready to come out to certain people. *Don’t confuse fetishization with love. *Even trans people have internalized transphobia, therefore do listen when called out, and do consciously fight against it. *Transphobia is structural, there’s no equivalent for cis people because they don’t face this kind of oppression. *Remember that transphobia, and also transmisogyny, can intersect with other forms of oppression, like racism or ableism. *If you have cis privilege use it to support trans people. *Correct pronouns and name are equally important whether or not the trans person is there to listen. *Reblog our selfies if you can? That’d be nice. *Do listen to trans people and do your learning. *Google is a wonderful tool so use it. *Trans people are amazing. *Thank you for existing.

Me any time I see any news reports about Drumpf and his continued efforts to bring our country into the shitty pits of hell - then realize that people actually believe what he is saying and are going to vote for him. smh.

Or you can just be a cat whisperer. That works too.
How to befriend most cats
A lot of people have the misconception that the best way to attract a cat is to make wierd noises and motion for the cat to come closer. In most cases, this is the polar opposite of what should be done. Never provoke a cat or try to do what they do on TV and movies to attract a cat (HERE KITTY KITTY!!!!!!). Unless the cat is deliberately trying to avoid you for some reason, the following procedure should work a lot of the time to gain the trust of any cat.
Approach it gently and make no threatening movements. A lot of the time, cats know the intentions of any person approaching them, and if you even hint that you want to grab them, they will run.
The cat will probably start to move away from you because it doesn’t know you. Don’t worry. Just keep gently approaching it and maybe hold out your hand. Having some treats at this point will greatly expedite the process.
Wait for it to sit down somewhere. This is crucial - its guard is by no means down, but if you can gain its trust here, you’re in good shape.
Once it sits down, go up (very gently, of course), and start scratching its scruff (the fluffy neck area). Scratch it hard. Often times, the cat will get very into it and demand you to scratch other places. Reason for this is because that’s the one area they really can’t scratch themselves and they love it when a human scratches it for them.
If it goes away after a bit, don’t chase it. It remembers you now, and probably he won’t be as frightened around you. If he sticks around your general vicinity and is ok with you being next to him and petting him, it’s alright to try to pick him up (gently, and watch out for claws). If you fail however and he bolts away, you’re essentially screwed, and you probably wont be able to regain its trust for a while.
The cat will remember you, and if you ever see it again (especially if you gave it treats), he will likely approach you and ask for another rub.
IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER: If you provide a cat with food, especially raw meat or treats, you can skip this whole guide essentially. Plus you can mess with the cat and play with it and he won’t run away. Just give it small treats.
Hopefully this cleared up some stuff. Good luck! Also, owning a cat is extremely rewarding - try it out.
BONUS TIP: Slowly hold out your hand the first time meeting a cat, and let them sniff it before trying to pet them. Cats rely on the sense of smell quite a bit to learn about their environment, so letting them smell you gives them information about you and can help put them at ease.
