someone I follow on the bird app just announced they're starting a very exclusive private fic server because they and a bunch of other people want to talk about how much they love the fics they're reading, and as an author can I just say that a really great place to talk about a fic you love is in the comments for that fic
I understand that people are trying to create safe spaces, but as the number of comments that I get on my fics dwindles with each passing year, knowing these spaces exist where my fics are being discussed, places that I am excluded from, makes me want to write fic LESS
I mean I guess who cares, right, because if I stop writing, there's 10,000 other people that will continue...but if you participate in a fic "book club" server and you say nice things there about a fic you loved, maybe copy and paste that into a comment on AO3?
the only thing fanfic writers are asking for in return for hours of hard work is attention. please don't rob us of the one thing that we hope for when we hit "post"

Just know in another universe instead of Percy Jackson and the Olympians it's Jason Grace and the Dii Consentes.
Im very curious to what the books could be about in that universe though. Heroes of Olympus is probably the same except Son of Neptune would be first and that would be called The Lost Hero and then The Lost Hero would be the second book and probably titled Son of Zeus.
But here are some ideas about the books the first books.
Book 1: the wolf house
this book starts off with him being young and it's him being Peak feral wolf boy Jason learning everything from Lupa and this book is pretty much just his journey of getting to camp because if it was as chaotic as it was for Percy with the curse of Achilles at 16 imagine what it was like for baby Jason all alone without a curse to help
The next three books are just about him rising to become leader with this strange looming threat of the titans except there is an even bigger shroud of mystery around it because he doesn't have the Insight Percy did. An interesting twist that could be interesting is that since he's the champion of Juno, they could have Juno in such a highlighted as having this motherly/mentor position towards him like he respects her like his mother and he prays to her just as much as he does his father but then everything in Heroes of Olympus happens where Hera is portrayed as a villain and it would be a nice switch between the two books and this audience that has spent the past five books have seeing Jason have a respectable relationship with Juno just see everything thrown in the trash because she had to sacrifice to save the world .
The last book is him fighting and defeating krios and something interesting they could do is hint towards the emperors because they themselves are roman maybe a throw away line like, "beware the beast." And Jason takes it as litteral and thinks a monster would come for him. Another angle could even be that in Heroes of Olympus when Percy comes to Camp instead of them describing him as this otherworldly Godlike figure they refer to him as like a beast or wild/feral so the readers are tricked in into thinking he is the beast, add that to the fact that Jason's missing and that they think he's a Son of Neptune and it can really explain why they were so strongly distrusting of Percy.
Trials of Apollo also would be the same except people would probably be destroyed and even more shocked when Jason died in that Universe and hey he did die in water so technically they were right to be wary of a Son of Neptune because their leader died in his father's domain.
Also Imagine the entire five books Jason has his memories of Thalia and he talks about her in such a fond tone and the readers are led to believe that she's dead only for the absolute shock of him walking into the Zeus cabin and seeing a picture of her.

One day there’s a prophecy that is for “the demigod prince of the old gods.” Jason (he’s not dead if I don’t read that chapter.) is obviously the one everyone thinks it’s for. He’s the only son of Jupiter the king of the gods. The doors to the labyrinth can finally be sealed. Hurray!
But Jason tries and fails to seal the doors. In fact the doors burn his hands.
So Percy steps forward. He sighs tiredly and tells the others that this stay between them. As he pushes the doors closed a black stone crown appears on his head.
Because like it or not he’s the prince of the true eldest gods.
PJO AU
Ancient history professor Sally Jackson
The reason Poseidon fell in love with Sally in canon wasn’t very clear she had no connection to any of Poseidon’s domains. Where other mortal parents have some connection to the domains of the gods that carry favor with, Annabeth’s father was a professor, Piper’s father was handsome, and he was object of desire, Leo’s mother was a mechanic Frank’s mother, who was a soldier, wills mother was a musician, so why does Sally whose only connection to the ocean other is the vacation house in Montauk and she doesn’t have any connection to his Earthshaker title.
So in this AU Sally is a researcher in Mycenaean mythology and she didn’t have Percy with the Hellenic Poseidon but his Mycenaean form.
Disclaimer The Mycenaean name for Poseidon, the is not entirely clear as the Mycenaean civilization is older than then the Ancient Greece we are familiar with and not a lot of the myths survived the Bronze Age collapse. Some scholars believe that the Mycenaean name for Poseidon was "Potinues," which appears on inscriptions found at the Palace of Pylos in southern Greece. Other possible Mycenaean names for Poseidon include "Posedaon" or "Poseidaon" based on the later Greek name for the god. So I’m going to use Pontiues as that is different enough from Poseidon to be to distinguish the two.
Sally wrote her dissertation for her doctorate in history and mythology about the differences between the Hellenized Greek Gods and the older Mycenaean Gods and how the Mycenaean culture focuses mostly on chthonic gods meaning gods relating to the earth and underworld. Pontiues’ earth shaker title makes him a chthonic god and because of this Pontiues was the chief deity and king of the gods. Because Zeus is a sky god the Mycenaean mythology didn’t really view Zeus as an important god. Pontiues is still the god of the sea but he has more emphasis on his earth shaker title and lord of earthquakes. After the gods were Hellenized during the Greek dark ages where ther are little records Zeus was somehow supplanted as king of the Gods. When Pontiues was Hellenized into Poseidon he became more of an ocean god and his role of lord of earthquakes is greatly diminished.
Zeus doesn’t like to be reminded that he wasn’t always king. He forbids the gods from taking their Mycenaean forms. Pontiues naturally hates this.
When Sally publicly published her dissertation it caught the eye of Poseidon or rather Pontiues who was happy to finally have someone respect and acknowledge his time as the king of the gods.
Sally basically professionally insulted Zeus and Pontiues was immediately smitten.
Rather than meeting Sally at the beach in Montauk Pontiues attended some of Sally’s lectures at Columbia University
Pontiues is impressed by Sally’s knowledge of Mycenaean history and culture
Pontiues is even more impressed when Sally confronts him about being a god
Pontiues had Percy two months (as per canon because Rick can’t count) later and left Sally with a celestial bronze sword and instructions to pretend Percy is a son of Poseidon
This is why she delayed sending Percy to camp for so long.
Sally never really ended her relationship with Pontiues. She built a small shrine to Pontiues in her apartment (no smelly Gabe she figured out how to hide Percy’s smell by herself) and she raises Percy with full knowledge of his father’s divinity
Percy’s eyes are never calm sea green. They are perpetually raging seas.
Percy has shark teeth. Not in the literal sense but in the sense that he is always growing more teeth.
Sometimes when Percy has a strong emotion the ground shakes.
Sea creatures don’t call him lord. They call him prince Percy or when nobody else is around they call him prince of the gods. He hates it.
Percy’s personality is the same he is just freaks people out more.
Percy sensed Kronos’s aura around Luke he just didn’t think Kronos was bad. So he was still friends with Luke until Luke tried to kill him.
The first time anyone suspected that Percy might not be a Hellenistic demigod is when Percy met mr. D. When Mr. D with Percy alone for the first time something in Mr. D regresses to his Mycenaean form. Horns grow out of his head. Mr. D doesn’t mention it.
The first time Clarisse tells Percy about how the Ares cabin thinks she is weaker because she’s a girl Percy drags her to Sally who tells Clarisse about the most famous of Ares’s daughters the Amazons.
Percy knows about most of the gods because of his mother’s work. He goes to her for help when he doesn’t know what to do. Sally gives him a rundown of how the monster or quest was originally defeated in the myths. She is constantly looking for loopholes in prophecies.
Annabeth is surprised that Percy dumbass Jackson is the son of a professor.
Athena is the first god to figure out that Percy is the son of Pontiues. She finds Sally’s dissertation.
Oracle: a half blood of the elder gods…
Percy remembers the Mycenaean gods are older the Hellenized gods:

Whenever Percy is around a Hellenized god they get a mild headache. They didn’t notice until after the Roman and Greek demigods united because they were already getting headaches from the whole Jason and Thalia situation.
Paul doesn’t exist in this au but after the war with Gaea Sally has a newborn daughter and is regularly seen with a man who looks suspiciously like Percy
Apollo shows up at the Jackson family apartment sees the ancient king of the gods with a baby girl in his arms and decides that maybe he doesn’t need Percy’s help

On the lower back of Percy Jackson, the place where his Achilles heel used to be, a magnificent shodo is tattooed with a 青木 [Aoki] blue tree.
When people see his tattoo for the first time, Percy laughs and says that his love for the color blue has reached a new level and he always wanted an idiotic tattoo With Asian characters.
Only Annabeth, Rachel and Jason know the truth.
The tattoo was designed by Rachel. Percy Ethan and Rachel were all curled up in Rachel’s room, with Percy squishing himself into Ethan’s arms. Rachel furiously sketched out various designs with Ethan correcting when stylization makes the character have a different meaning. The tattoo is stylized with water imagery to add another layer of secrecy. Of course Percy has a water stylized tattoo pertaining to the color blue.
Ethan wouldn’t live to see the tattoo on Percy’s skin.
Annabeth holds Percy’s hand as he lays down while he gets the tattoo. Percy was too broken up to handle anything other than just laying there. Annabeth handled Ethan’s ashes and the process of getting the tattoo parlor to agree to add the ashes to the ink. Annabeth is Percy’s best friend and she’ll always be there for him so all Percy needs to is grieve.
But Nemesis knows her own son’s name. (Surprisingly)
So Percy is only half surprised when the goddess of retribution comes into his room at night and offers him the closest thing to retribution for her son’s death. Protection.
Not for Percy but his and Ethan’s daughter.
The protection of a goddess especially one like Nemesis would be invaluable, so Percy agrees on the condition that there are no strings attached. Nemesis says that she wants the child to sleep in the Nemesis cabin when she is old enough for camp. Percy agrees.
But Percy is a selfish father and he wants all the time he can get with his daughter. So he lies about his daughter’s birth. Keeping her hidden away from camp for years. Jason and him marry and they love each other but nothing could replace the relationship that they lost. Percy with Ethan and Jason with Leo. The only difference is Leo is still alive but is in love with someone else.
And thus years later Percy is introducing his little girl to to her aunts and uncles in the nemesis cabin. Jason is right there with him easing her into the newly revealed family.

My understanding of the attractiveness of every son of the big three.
Jason, - pretty boy, In style, the most popular boy in high school.
Perfect golden hair, bright blue eyes, an infectious laugh and an athletic build, - he handsome in a simple and understandable sense of the word.
Nico, - lovely little angel.
He has big eyes, silky wavy curls, soft voice, pale skin and sharp but cute facial features. him want to kiss on the cheek and squeeze him.
Percy, - beautiful young man.his beauty is shocking and makes you freeze in place for a couple of minutes stupidly looking at him.
He looks like an antique statue or a supermodel - he is too perfectly built, regal grace permeates his every movement, even a slight smile fascinates, his stunning beauty attracts and scares at the same time, he is like a siren.
The big three kids reflect their father’s domain in their appearance.
Jason is attractive in the way the sky is pretty. A soft face with striking eyes that look like painful blue morning sky’s and hair that looks like a gold cloud at sunset. Bright clear blue skies and sunsets. Simple universal beauty.
Thalia is attractive in way thunderstorms are mesmerizing. A sharp face with a subtle softness. Scary in a way that you can’t stop looking.
Nico is attractive like death. Smooth features paired with dark hair and eyes. Both scary and tempting to just relax into.
Hazel is pretty both like a gemstone and comforting like warm soil. Clear shiny concentrated beauty that stands out while not being super intense. Absolutely welcoming and just all around huggable.

The "forgotten" demigods of the Olympians, those for whom it was clear whose children they were, but who remained without the attention of their divine parent... are products of rape.
Why remember a mortal who was so stupid and arrogant that he dared to refuse the courtship of a deity and who then still had the audacity to suffer and not thank them for their favor?
realism of this headcannon scares me myself.
Hot take but I think Ares would steal these kids. He is the defender of women and is all around anti rape in a very pro rape culture. Like they get his blessing and are moved into the Ares cabin under a title like “chosen of combat” or something.
A small kid arrives at camp knowing full well how he was conceived is just angry. He knows damn well what his father did. So when he gets claimed by Ares he’s bitter and angry.
Ares would usually be proud of the kid’s justified anger but after dinner, Ares pulls the kid aside to carefully tell the kid that while he isn’t the kid’s father he’ll be his patron and protect the kid’s mother.

AU where Percy got pregnant by Luke and Poseidon decided for once not to be a slacker and offers Percy his help - he will hide the child in his possessions and protect him, she [a girl, too few original girl children] will be looked after by nymphs, and Percy will be able to visit his daughter whenever he wants.
Percy accepts the offer.
When Luke dies, Percy gently takes his hand and says, "This is a girl, her name is Amphibia Lucile Jackson-Castelli, she is the most wonderful child that ever existed and she is ours."
Luke with a smile on his face and regret that he would never meet her.

~Percy's wrists stings from being tied to the bed post. However, he enjoys the sting. It keeps him from completely floating away from all the pleasure he's feeling right now. His kissed brused mouth opens in a silent moan, as his body moves back and fourth across the bed. All from the force of the thrusts enetering him. Tears fill up in his ocean eyes, making his vision blurry. However, he can still see him hovering over him. For this one moment, his whole entire world is him. Blonde hair, golden skin. Sky blue eyes that dont ever leave his. And that scar. The red claw mark scar that stands out over his face. Luke is the only thing thats keeping him on the ground. Luke smirks at him, 'Percy.' Luke murmurs, like a siren song. It echos in Percy's head.~
Percy wakes up, Lukes voice still echoing in his head. For a few seconds, Percy lies still in a curled up fetal position on his bed, letting the memories from his dream flash like a movie inside his mind. He wants to stay in his memories for a little while, before the world comes crashing back in(he knows its useless). So for a few precious moments its just Percy and his memories, the moring light from his window keeping him warm. Just Percy and Luke.
Than hes hit with a queasy feeling in his stomach. Something thats been familiar to him for the past month. Percy covering his mouth, leaps from the safe haven of the bed and runs to the tiny bathroom. The white porcelain of the toilet is another thing hes been familiar with for the past month.
Puking is obviously gross, though imagine having to do it almost everyday for a month. Percy has honestly become numb to it. But not to the indication of what 'it' might mean. Percy does not want to think about it. But it's almost been a month and he has to at this point. As his head his getting reacquainted with the toliet, he feels his mom come up behind him and gently rub his back.
"We have contacted your father at this point Percy, you know that."
Percy in between dry heaving into the toilet nods his head. When he's finally finished (cleaning his mouth with the back of his hand) he looks at his mom. She looks back at him sadly. Percy is hit with the realization that history is repeating itself. His mother is a mirror of himself in this moment. Tears appearing in his ocean eyes( which he hates, but he can't help it). Percy says, "I didn't mean for this to happen mom. I didn't."
Saying that, he starts fully crying.
"Oh baby, I know. I know." She brings Percy into her arms, holding him close. Percy just keeps crying, his arm shielding his stomach.

"Who is the other father?"
"I'm not telling you that." The little sea prince says with defiance in his voice to his ocean god father.
The ocean god replies back, questioning, "Why not?!"
"Because they'll kill him. And I'm not having my kid lose another parent over all of their petty egos."
"So it is an enemy of the gods?" Poseidon questions.
Percy just glares up at his father. Silent yet defiant.
"That stubbornness. Definitely all from me." Poseidon tries to joke.
Percy finally snaps, his emotions are running high. He throws his hands up in anger. Which causes a big wave to crash angrily on the sands of Montauk beach.
"I don't care Dad! Will you help me?! Please." Percy sounds desperate. He has unshed tears in his eyes. Thats what finally hits Poseidon of the seriousness of the situation. He is a god yes. But also he realizes he's a father in this moment. And his son (his favorite son) is in a bit of trouble. His son is here begging for his fathers help. What else can he do for his and Sally's child.
Poseidon gently cups Percy's face, Percy leans into the touch. A tear spills out of Percy's eye. Percy face though is still filled with defiance and protective anger.
"Alright, I'll take care of it Percy. I'll take care of everything."
"She. It's a girl." Which finally causes Percy to smile. He places a smile on his stomach. His baggy clothes hiding the already forming bump.
"A girl? Well I'll definitely keep her safe." Poseidon says.

Later than night back in his room, Percy can't sleep. He doesn't want to sleep. Between dreams of Luke's past, and others of just that night of him and Luke together. For Percy sleep is the last thing on his mind. Its raining hard outside. Luckily theres no thunder, so Zeus must be in a good mood.
'Or he's fighting some titians somewhere else.' Thinks Percy darkly.
This whole situation makes Percy moody. He just wishes things could be calm. Percy continues to mindlessly stare at the ceiling where his fish mobile hangs. His mother had found it on a trip to a flea market when he was little. He stubbornly kept it up ever since despite certain smelly assholes saying he was too young to be having that baby shit hanging up. Maybe when the baby's born. She'll like it too. Percy thinks as he lays a hand on his stomach. The bump still small but growing.
The music keeps his dark mood at bay. He's been listening to his playlist on his phone for over an hour. Ironically Luke made this playlist for him. Another song starts to play on his "my sea prince" playlist. It made him blush and laugh when Luke sent it to him, with a picture of a clownfish with a crown on its head. Benson Boone voice sings passionately in his ears.

Percy who had closed his eyes to get lost in the music, hears a loud and persistent tapping on his window. It causes his eyes to go wide in fear. Not because it's an enemy or a monster. Because he has a pretty good guess who it is. Only one person who would risk coming to see him in the rain like this.
The tapping continues. Percy wants to run to the window. He also wants to pull the sheets over his head and hide. Unfortunately he can't ignore him. Percy really couldn't ever ignore him.
Pulling out his headphones, Percy looks to the window where the fire escape is. He sees a blonde head drenched in rain.
"Luke" Percy says. Luke can't hear him, but he can see him mouth his name back at him. He gets up and goes to the window. Doesn't even hesitate to open it, the rain blowing in right with Luke.
Luke who pushes his way into Percy's room. (Into Percy's life, his heart, and now his body. Percy thinks with a laugh.)
Luke drags Percy close.
"Where have you been Minow? You haven't been answering my calls."
"Doing stuff I can't talk to you about."
Luke nods because that was the agreement to their relationship. They both agreed. Anything having to do with the war, neither could ask. Fair is fair.
As Luke starts kissing him and pulling up his shirt, one his hands touches his stomach. Unknowingly touching his child. Luke doesn't notices his flinch. Just keep on kissing him.
'Thank the gods he doesn't notice.' If Luke does question it later, he can lie about gaining some weight. For now though he allows himself to get lost in the moment. He gets lost in looks touches. In his kisses, in him fucking Percy on his bed.
And later when after they're both spent, with Luke fast asleep. Percy will watch him. Will whisper quietly in his ear, while gently bringing his hand to his stomach.
Percy will say, "It's a girl and I'm naming her May."
