okay quick moonpaw redesign. i have some thoughts also.

split face markings are pretty common in non-chimera tortie cats, and her ginger tabby markings would blend with her black tortie markings. basically her canon description is really nothing special.

instead i made her a shorthaired solid lilac and longhaired gray-and-cream tortie chimera. this color combination is pretty unusual, and i think it would attract special attention from her clanmates.

also i couldn't give her the split face marking. in my heart, that belongs to half moon. i'll change it if moonpaw ends up having anything to do with half moon.

as far as misconceptions go, split face equals chimera is pretty harmless. but if they want moonpaw's appearance to be a big deal, they have to make it a big deal!!!

canon chimera cat with canon heterochromia alluding to a duality motif and a unique prefix specifically denoting how special her parents think she is... ok sounds fun sounds like they're actually leaning into the camp of the premise don't fuck it up please

Knowing that Moonpaw is actually a chimera makes me wish they didn't choose a pattern that is just...a regular tortoiseshell pattern. Like split face torties are already cool without being chimeras. And with chimeras, you could really just mix and match a lot of colours. I would have loved a grey and black tortie Moonpaw.

I know that the Erins don't care about cat genetics and that I'm being nitpicky but it still feels a bit like a missed opportunity

i think she's not canonically torbie! she's described as a "mottled cream and brown tabby", which is slightly more interesting than just brown tabby, but not explicitly tortie either. i definitely see her as torbie though!

there's a pretty specific picture out there that captures what i think she looks like, but this one (not my picture) is pretty close.

my design is also inspired by wayne mcloughlin's art of her.

and in her graphic novels, she's brown tabby with white!
