how often do you mean what you say? how often do you say what you mean? it’s all a contradiction, don’t you agree? saying yes when you mean no,
no when you mean yes. and then there’s maybe, that tragic in between.
it’s okay. i do it, too. everyday. my affirmation is never confirmation. it’s all a contradiction, but for what? for who?
for me, it’s you.
do you know who you are?
wanted to say it, but i couldn’t. you wouldn’t believe me anyway. so i nodded on and made a bad joke, watched you lean back, laugh, and i swear i saw sunshine for the first time. felt my insides take flight. i’m connecting dots with invisible lines.
you and i.

forgive me / you’re everywhere / in the street lights / on each stepping stone / the only face i’ve ever known / day 2,922 / of searching for your eyes / in every room.

tell me the truth
or something boring
whichever is fine
i’ll listen either way
as long as
you’re the one speaking

i could tell you now
or bite my tongue
until it bleeds
and hide you in between
the lines of my poetry

I’m writing to the wind
The dust settling on my skin
I’m sorry for wallowing
I love you, but the end is near
This song is a dream I listen to
On the way home
Black dress, spinning
I never lie
But that doesn’t mean
I’m not a liar
The world is on fire
And here I am
Writing to you
—i love you, but the end is near

oh!
it’s for you—
to you,
because of you,
in hope of you.

he holds love
in the pockets of his jeans
tossing it out for free
to anyone who might believe in it
the same way he does
he’s a lover boy
“risk it all”
“i think she’s the one”
boy
so cool, so cool
how he moves through the night
boy
intricate ink
his arms, his chest
“hoping for the best”
boy
has trouble sleeping alone
boy
it’s lust, not love
boy
(i know you’re lonely, boy)

The window pane is 20 knives, all cutting through my fragile life. Someone new peeking through the room. I fear the name you whispered is mine, I’ll know it soon. I’m headless, I’m just limbs. I think they’re coming in. I already died, so this is extra time. I already died, so now I see it open eyed. I already died, so I am justified. I already died. There’s nothing you can say to change my mind.
