“Thousands of Sudanese refugees are currently stranded in the Olala forests in Northern Ethiopia after a collective walk-out from the Olala UN camp. This was after repeated pleas to the UNHCR and Ethiopian government demanding protection due to the inhumane conditions at the camp. The instability of the region due to the existing violent tensions deemed the refugees at risk for repeated assaults, looting and harassment by local militiamen.

Contacts from the camp confirmed the unavailability of basic needs like food, water, proper shelter and most importantly, safety, since their arrival on the 1st of May.

6,080 refugees are now stranded in the forests, undergoing a mass hunger strike in a desperate bid to draw international attention to their plight.

The situation is growing bleaker by the second, with many of the refugees, including vulnerable populations such as children, the elderly, and pregnant women, facing severe health risks.

Seriously if you can’t financially help or go to protests wrt palestine the second best thing you can do is learn history and talking points by heart and be ready to bring it up with people you know. There’s never “nothing you can do”. There’s no shortage of books and documentaries made by Palestinians you can find for free on the internet you have no excuse to not educate yourself especially if you actually want to help

i love in we are lady parts s2 episode 5 saira is trying to sing about issues affecting the Muslim community but the story itself, the show itself, censors her and the censorship is portrayed as physical force from beyond the narrative but also inherent to it. when marginalised people are given platforms, the usually white people who own those platforms will not let marginalised people use them to openly speak about issues that aren't palatable or marketable. these talented Muslim women are inherently political, but what they make cannot be seen to be in an obvious way. on a totally unrelated note, I love that season 2 of we are lady parts heavily features the music of Palestinian artist, Rasha Nahas who also appeared in the finale and you should go listen to her music ❤️🇵🇸

I think the part that I love the most about interview with a vampire is that nobody in this story is reliable. Louis can't count on his memory, Claudia's diary contradicts itself occasionally, and we already know Armand/Lestat won't tell the whole truth either. And because Daniel is writing based on them his book won't be accurate either.

It's very interesting that at any moment a reveal can be made that shatters the whole image of the story. Truth and memory bends and twists over time and this show is the perfect example of that.

#right i love that everything needs to be taken with a grain of salt #and as someone who hasn't read the books i tend to take the show at face value at first watch but then look back and see the facade of it #like this last episode of armand's past like LOL he was basically telling a telenovela like daniel mentioned #but it's not like the truth isn't present even with the lies #but what i love the most about the show is that louis is TRYING to get the memory correct - he wants the truth even if it hurts #iwtv
