You have probably already answered something like this and I just couldn't find it, but would you mind pointing me in the direction of your animation tutorial? Or on the offchance you don't have one, would you make one?

I love your edits and I love seeing the little manhua/manga stills animated and want to give it a try myself.

I've already answered similar asks yes but it's been a while! I don't have animation tutorials exactly, I replied to some questions in the past and tried to explain how I animate but I don't think those can be considered "tutorials", seeing those replies now they're probably difficult to follow (for example these two: 1 , 2 ). I had considered making some basic tutorials but there'd be a looot to cover and found the thought overwhelming, I'm not very good at explaining things also so I don't think my tutorials would be of help..? I feel like I don't have much to offer, this is why I usually link tutorials from YT, there are plenty of useful and well-made tutorials already without me trying to make more... I could say "I'll try and make something" anyway but, no promises _(:3 」∠)_

To give you some directions though!

- My only experience is with After Effects so I can only recommend this program to animate, there are other options (apps?) but I don't know much about these, if they're easier to learn? Easier to animate with? So, After Effects. I use the CS6 version, a bit old but it does the job

- To start you should learn some basics first, following tutorials like this one (X) will help you learn how the program works and how to move around the main functions.

- To animate you should look into the masking tool (🔴), the puppet tool (🔵) to move parts of a character/scan, and also the drawing tools (🟢) to redraw backgrounds and parts of a character/scan when needed. (I use the drawing tools because I do everything in After Effects but many editors use editing softwares such as Photoshop first to clean a scan and divide it into the parts you intend to animate, they basically clean and organize the scan in levels first and then import everything in After Effects. Different editors different ways to animate, there are no wrong ways really)

- If you type “how to animate manga After Effects” on YT you can find many videos/tutorials that explain how to animate manga scans/stills, some for beginners and others a bit more advanced. For example these ones (A , B , C , D) show how the overall process is.

My favourite is this one I think

I always prefer making perfectly looped animations and this was a bit of a challenge, at the end I managed to make the movements subtle but visible and natural enough (I think). I like how the coloring came out as well, it has this sort of glow-y atmosphere, it's such a soft moment between them and I hope my animation does it justice.
