Would it matter?

The thought came to his mind amongst the whirling gears and pounding pistons of machina. It is enough to give him pause. The machinist crossing his arms as he stopped to ponder it.

They were causing a lot of noise lately...

Those two.

How long had it been since they were together? They used to be a team. He had come to consider them his friends. That had gone to hell in the end though. Now the world plunged itself ever closer to war. A war he didn't care to have any part in.

Let New Yevon and The Youth League tear themselves apart.

The Al Bhed had seen enough of the horrors that came with war. A thousand years of persecution and hate. All because of Yevon and it's teachings. After the fall of old Yevon, his people had been scattered to the wind, with no place to call home. Cid was content to do nothing. To try and turn the ruins of Zanarkand into an amusement park.

Even Gippal thought that a rather insensitive and foolish idea.

Too many people had given their lives in that nightmarish place for it to be turned into some kind of carnival attraction.

It wasn't his place though.

His place was here now. The Machine Faction. He was just as guilty of the blasphemy as Cid. They moved into an old temple and started peddling machina to the masses. He had good intentions really. At least that's what he believed. He had given a handful of Al Bhed a purpose again.

He really was trying to make Spira a better place.

"Puo ur puo."

The words leave his lips softly, as he uncrossed his arms and returned his attention to his work.

In truth, he missed them.

His friends.

A shame he was too proud to admit it.

I get that calling white lotus lbh a sticky little 'sheep' is a canon translation and stuck in the fandom now anyway, but I do feel the intended spirit of the original word wasn't the sheeple/dumb herd animal that's more common in the western world, but instead something actually conveying sweetness, innocence, purity and youth - lamb.

Famous for being utterly adorable and following around their mothers, gambolling in sunny meadows, curly white wool shining.

And NOW we can talk about black sheep/wolf in sheep's clothing metaphors.

#Picturing Sqq sweetly calling lbh a little lamb 🥺#Him calling lbh a sheep never felt quite right but LAMB???#And lbh following him around all bright and gangly and moon eyed ToT #Did you know the phrase originates from the wool of black sheep being much harder to dye and thus being undesirable in the wool industry?#That's why sheep are white and not like. Tan or brown or w/e like more natural colours.#But the black fur gene still pops up sometimes so you get white wool parents and siblings and a tiny black lamb trotting along #Who's wool you can never sell and who can't risk having offspring of their own #Also where the baa baa black sheep rhyme comes from! That's Right #lackadaisy #WHICH i have been reading since at least '07 when i was thirteen my god b/c this animation is based on the ongoing webcomic #like does its influence show up Directly in some Discrete way i can point to in my art? not very easily probably. And Yet.#the inspiration....i wasn't able to be Regularly Only for at least another year / art done Nonprofessionally Online was novel to me #like wow ppl can make & post fanart of w/e they love huh....didn't know webcomics were a thing & i never really read that many since but.#good god the quality of Lackadaisy at its onset is like this is superb?? this person putting in all their talent and effort???#and Then you get years & years more art and i don't even know what superlatives to throw out abt its quality as it evolves. obsessed w/it..#if i see a new lackadaisy comic page i Will be acting out. obviously this animation is a delight & also stunning. and fascinating to also #juxtapose as a Translation / Interpretation of the comic in a different medium & standalone snippet of Story #and that we're not even quite there in the comic timeline; Taking Notes abt character info we get distilledly here....genuinely love like #take it back to '07 i'm like oh boy can't wait for the dream team to assemble. then a decade later when it did? shiv's motivations for voting to pass the gojo deal are so layered and i don't think they should be dismissed in favour of any one interpretation. shiv desperately grabbed on to a lifeline for her relationship with tom. shiv was the deciding vote and she couldn't bear to hold the crown only for a moment just to place it atop her brother's head. shiv knew she would have more influence as wife of CEO rather than sister of CEO. shiv absolutely hated seeing kendall crystallize into logan before her eyes, especially when he made roman bleed ("and if we did kill him we get to go to bed") -- succession has always been about siblings so of course she tried to free her brothers before her child. shiv still thinks she can raise her child with all the material benefits of being the daughter of waystar CEO while doing better by her, whatever that means. and all of those things are true

Maybe the problem with Christian fiction is that it's non-denominational. People are just "Christian", with no effort put into showing what practicing that religion looks like for them specifically. No indication that there are other Christians who could have different beliefs. No wrestling with differing ideas and the struggle of how one should live out their Christian faith. And that makes it unrealistic and unrelatable.

#me reading any christian historical fiction set in england: why are none of these gentry anglican??#they ARE all anglican and if they are not it is extremely plot and character relevant you can't just have them using evangelical buzzwords #but i'm also thinking of this because i started another charlotte yonge book #that is by far my favorite of the things of hers that i've read #because it has characters who have different upbringings and religious opinions #instead of just 'here's a bunch of high church anglicans judging people who don't live up to their victorian standard'#you have the very high church anglican rector whose wife is worldly but still a very good person #the girl raised in a very strict protestant family who is more scrupulous than the anglicans but is still recognized as a good person #you have people who are trying to work out the nuances of different issues #and that makes it so much more realistic and so much easier to integrate into the story #(the politics though are hilarious)#(most of the classics that survive are the ones that were 'ahead of their time' in politics)#(so it's equally fascinating and refreshing and a bit infuriating to see one that is very very of its time with regards to women's rights)#('why did this woman get up at the meeting and explain her very good ideas for rebuilding after the fire? she should have had a man do it')#(meanwhile i'm just screaming 'why on earth SHOULDN'T she???')#(it's almost enough to make a feminist of me)

does anyone else get so upset when you think about all the things that happened to your f/o... all the things they went through? all the things they haven't healed from? the pain that they may still be enduring? how you can do your best to help them but you can't protect them from everything. so you just love them the ways they needed before, how they deserved. and you see them happy because they finally accept, at least in some ways, that they do deserve it. they deserve love like all beings do

#i get so upset when i think about it for too long; i'm there for them now but there was nothing i could do; wanna go back and protect them #i'm like this with everyone i care about (real and fictional) and sometimes it's hard #it's about hans this time. i just can't believe all the things that happened to him #no wonder he's terrible! no one cared about him! why should he care! all he knows is pain and neglect! except from me!#i know why he sees everyone else as worthless because that's exactly how everyone he knew saw him first; he was supposed to be loved #they all used him up til he was nothing and that's all he knows #i can't even read certain parts of a frozen heart again because i just cried so much the first time... he didn't deserve that #no one does #and then the comics detailing it all even FURTHER #he was like any other innocent kid and seeing that progression hurt so much. i could get into the details but ugh #hux's age of resistance comic did the same thing. i can't even look at the first 2 pages; it's too much. i just want to hold him #anyway... i'm fine :') i've made a post like this before but i'm feeling it so hard right now #self ship

i don't know if someone brought this up already or if it's too obvious but can we talk about Loop's wish?

Loop (Siffrin) wished for someone (anyone) to help them (to help Siffrin) so that the loops would be over but the Universe's help was not to just yank Loop out of their timeline and throw into another Siffrin's as they said, no, that's not what happened

we know that Wish Craft doesn't grant wishes per se, it gives you something so that your wish can be fulfilled and this is exactly what happened

the Universe fulfilled Siffrin's wish, it helped Siffrin by giving them someone who can help them stop the loops and that brings us to the conclusion that Loop helped themselves and fulfilled their own wish
